    Good video. You crack me up on those shingle roof flashings for flat roof penetrations. Here we have to use covered pitch pans on any flat roof penetrations and they sell them at the supply houses. They have even started to use them on pitched shingle roofs too. Pop the cover off, fill with spray foam, seal with polyurethane roofing caulk, then put the cover back on and done.

    What a nasty system! Wires running through bare metal openings with no grommets, holes rubbed through the cables, lines floating in the wind, smoked capacitors, ratty looking wiring, an uneven roof with low spots everywhere, electric shorts all over the place, service valve problems, nasty looking attic, coaxing a fan to work that says "eat my dust" all documented on video makes for very entertaining New Year's Eve viewing. Wonderful job of sizing up the situation, keeping the customer in the loop, and a quality install in the end. A super video that shows how and why you earn every cent you make. Very well done video and quality work!

    Wow a nightmare from Elm St. Great video on the removal and install. Lots of tech don't well some don't know you have to bring conduit through the roof to a work box then sealtight to the equipment. No matter the equipment. Nice on the temp power and made sure the electrican knows what you like to do. Great find on the vavle partially closed. Neat install, clean and very considerate on equipment placement on the roof away from potential safety hazzards. Nice follow up on the start up too. I enjoy your time, videos, and your knowledge of the trade. As always be safe, slow down and Look at The Big Picture. Thanks Chris.

    Makes me chuckle a little bit. I always loved the look in the customer's face when I'd say: "It's the unit, that's the trouble." Hehe. I'd let 'em off the hook after a while and explain what the hell 'unit' means. Love it. The word 'unit' scares customers. I don't even know what that word means most of the time. Let me call the parts house and see if they have a 'unit' in stock. Lol

    The internal bypass inside the compressor didn't close following excessive high head pressure due to the condenser fan failure. That causes the pressures to nearly equalize and it rapidly overheats the compressor. They will reclose a few times, but eventually they fail open.

    Good video Chris . Russell condensing units are pretty solid . Evaporator coils are not in my opinion. I’ve done Russell condensing units with Heatcraft Evaporator coils . Good thing Russell is using Sporlan Expansion valves , multivolt solenoid coils . Over the past years I’ve found several leaks on Russell condensing units . Leaks were at the liquid rotolock coming out of the receiver . Also found few high peanut style pressure switches failing to close .

    Glad to that you have luck with your job. At March 2020 I lost my career as maritime electrician. I did have multiple trips to hospital passed out and with seizures. Diagnosed epilepsy so no more maritime work and goodbye for my lorry license, I hopefully get my car license back at next March. I really don't know yet what to do next. I'm still on sick leave. I hope I get some job as electrician but it's pain in the butt. So many electric company's had gone bankruptcy at Finland.

    I'm surprised you broke out the rosebud. That torch tip is highly underrated. That's how I sweat all my reversing valves.

      Yep , That’s Why they make Safety glasses ! I Wear Prescription Glasses & They Have saved My butt a Few times ! 2 Times From acid being blown into my face ! Once from De-Scaler solution while de-scaling a Water cooled condenser. ( Buffered hydrocloric acid solution ) & once a Hood makeup air blowing nu-brite at my face while degreasing a ice machine condenser. Safety Glasses - Use Them ! It’s Worth it !

      Old old panel no fuses in the panel it's over load then contactor stupid design but what you want.

    Shocked to hear you say “you are really impressed with Russel”
    We installed those for years and are thrilled to be NOT installing those anymore. Several issues after minimal time in service. Hoping you have better luck than us....

      The evap coils aren't the best but the condensing unit seems to be much better than the heatcraft units. But the Heatcraft evap coils are better in my opinion, I just wish heatcraft would use all sporlan stuff instead of the cheap components they are using

    • @HardKnocks101
      @HardKnocks101 3 года назад +1

      I did see in your video that condensing unit was different than the ones we used to install. Simple things like screws stripping easily for the panels was aggravating and non-adjustable packing nuts/stems that leaked and unable to change leaking service ports without replacing entire receiver, etc.
      Agreed with your thoughts on Bohn evaps too.
      Like Dave says, “got boned by Bohn again”

      I was about to comment the same thing. My company installs Russell/Witt and the condensers are fine. The EVAPS just rattle and seem cheap. Only thing good is the sporlan valves. The ecm motors suck FYI.
