Great fun writing the bill , just gets bigger and bigger and bigger ! Might have been easier to price a new outdoor unit !! Great job done in the end all the same ! Love ur videos keep up the great work !
As usual, I was cemented in place until the end of this video. Your ability to express your investigative thought process is a great bonus to your videos. Your analytical process and deductions based on gauge readings are thorough and insightful, something I'm able to recognize at this point is a must-have skill. I appreciate the time spent without comment on soldering your joints and the inspection time. I think the point was made that taking your time will save on backtracking, and preventive measures to protect components during brazing is non-negotiable. Finally, the operating analysis, after all repairs were made is a great bonus to your videos. Thanks for bringing us along. Never a wasted moment.
Legend. I'm 2yrs deep (mostly residential) and I've been running commercial for 3 months. Just saw my first molitron on call yesterday. Entire career has been trial by fire to this point, but I'm still here. I've watched many of your videos, but this is exceptionally beautiful. Workflow, procedure, troubleshooting, it's all here. You're a true professional. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I finally got a day off and watching this video is the most productive thing I will probably do today. The editing on this video is perfect and the number of topics you discussed is absolutely mind boggling, and yet, you make it seem almost effortless. As a green guy cutting their teeth in the field finding reliable mentors is a joke, so I am writing this to express my sincere gratitude for taking the time and putting in the effort to create such an enriching educational experience. You are the best! Thank you!

Very good video for a HVAC tech who dabbles with refrigeration. I do commercial building hvac and automation, but ive done a few refrigeration calls in my career. You've explained ordered of operation, troubleshooting and performed a detailed service repair all in one. Im subscribed now. On the refer calls, I used to get them going without fully understanding what caused these failure in the first place. Its cool to see how its done the right way.
I got no idea how to repair any of this stuff, but I find it nice watching things get fixed. Good job dude. You surely are one of the people that do their job properly and don't do shortcuts all the time. Good job
I like your overall explanation on the subjects and like that you are thorough on the issue. I will have to say thank you for being a person that like helping people and show the issues that can be met out there , that can be face with. I just started this field of work and by your videos makes it easier for me to learn this subject, so thank you and may God bless you!!!!!
Always fun finding those multiple offender units. It is not too surprising that the contacter had died from the short cycling with who knows how long that had been going and then the possible condenser fan failure. Another great video.

It's awesome to see you run through issues using deductive reasoning. That is what makes a great engine tuner as well. Probably 80% of the time i get a vehicle in that "just needs a tune" i have to fix issues that guys thought i could just "tune out." What most people lack is the overall understanding of the entire process, whether it be AC systems, engines, electronics, you can't run through and diagnose issues if you don't understand how the entire system works as a whole. Just to give some context of My night, it started with my water heater leaking and i went looking for info on a Tankless one and somehow ended up here lol. I will say i'm glad i found your channel as i've already learned a ton more about refrigerant systems and i will use it in the future on cars.
Thanks for your videos. You are the man. I appreciate your ability to problem solve and use your skills to complete the job. I like how you explain what you’re doing and why. Thanks again and keep doing what you are doing.
Nice long video.. Long but not to long.. Some youtubers have long videos, but most of the video is just them removing screws and looking at diagrams for 10min.. But this one is perfect👍

I have been retired about 10 years and never upgraded to those "Fieldpiece" gauges as they were pretty new at the time. Sure wish I had sprung for the superior tools. Walking up and down from the roof to the evap section sure became a pain in the ass.
Another great video !!! Great fix and trouble shooting skills. Thanks again and keep up the good work ! Since it is so hot on the roof and your enviroment you work in, I have seen these cooling vests. Some vests use ice others use a blatter that you cool in cold water and it keeps cool to 62 farh. for 4 hrs then swap out with spare blatters. You still have the movement and some are very light 4 pounds.
Try unbolting the old compressor first then sweat the lines out of it. Can wiggle the compressor with heat on the joint to break it loose. Good video for the new comers in the field 🤘
I watch alot of you videos and enjoy them, often jealous at how much room you have to work in with alot of these units just by pulling a one piece cover off etc, too often I've gone to to this sort of job too often I've been to replace compressors etc and the entire unit I'm working on would just about fit into the space you've got around the compressor alone, especially the temperzone and carrier units I've delt with
thank you for giving me these videos that i never knew i wanted! this is a subject you would never ask for, but there is a LOT going on here. this is very interesting stuff to see this side of the coin when your walk-in takes a shite lol
Nice job on everything. I like watching young people in this field, when they discover the process of troubleshooting and the somewhat instant gratification it gives. Nothing is better than solving a puzzle no one else can solve. It's better than drugs, because you can get your "fix", simply by going to work, being thorough, and doing a good professional job. BTW, you may want to put some of that heat-sink on the liquid line service valve in the future, it has teflon and o-ring seals in it. Just saying. :D Great job! Keep doing these vids and posting them. You're going to find new ways of doing things as you get older and better at this job. Keep sharing them. Good luck and keep up the good work!
You reminded me of that one time I turned off the breaker on a condenser, I disconnected the wires and got a nice jolt. ALWAYS double check with your meter. Turns out they labeled the breaker wrong.

God job. Just a little tip. Move the buld into a horisontel posisiton. The liquid in it will work better when it is in contact with the kapillär, Sorray for my bad english. Greatings from Sweden.
HVACR VIDEOS my boss does not do anything right. He replaced a compressor with me and there was a WHOLE BUNCH of fried wires and he just said “leave it” he also throws away the filter covers for ac units. He’s very bad
paul beenis how about you mind your own business. I have no idea why YOU would care you low life. Leave me alone you hater. I did nothing wrong. I’m talking with somebody else NOT including you. And your the one that’s pity. You dummy. I would do things better then you would any day.

Safety glasses while brazing my friend. Only have one set off peepers. In Alberta when brazing we need to use a shaded safety glass due to the ultra violet from the flame. Applies to a air acetylene b-tank also.
Customers just want whatever it is to do whatever it's supposed to do. They don't want to be bothered with fans or filters or anything else. As long as it's as cold as it should be, they're happy.

Bypass will close once pressure is lowered and compressor will pump fine . Have had lots bypass due to bad fan motors and they always work once cooled down

always good to verify no voltage as a stab could be stuck and the other 2 pull out. working in the mines ive seen several times where a stab didnt pull out or the actual linkage in the breaker box was broken. thats why we always try out equipment before work
If the system was designed to be a freezer , but customer runs it as a chiller . I would have fitted a crank case regulator. Also taken the opportunity to replace the compressor for a rotor lock version. I am sure you had gauges on when you diagnosed the HP switch problem. I am never to keen to bypass a safety control. However good job you did , else if you just had to order one and come back another day to fit it. You would have to make another vist again, once you diagnosed the compressor pumping problem. Most likely valve reads or snapped piston rod. This most likely liquid flooding back. Lots of parts in the system needed attention. Well done for bringing it back from the dead.
You were concerned about overcharging this unit, yet you have a receiver that at 80% max fill capacity there would be plenty of room to add 2# over full charge. My guess that system could handle 10#+. On headmaster controlled units in cold environments, I usually charge @ 80% receiver capacity. I too put my hat in the ring for StayBrite 8 on liquid lines and suction lines. I reserve braze for discharge lines only. I’ve never had any issues. I’m more concerned about damaging components from overheating them than reaching any burst points. You can usually skip the nitrogen flow too with solder. Curious on your thoughts.
Chris, not being a pest and by lord I'm far less than perfect, I made it to retirement with my eyesight intact. Please be vigilant about your safety glasses usage. Your family will appreciate it.

I was always taught to cut out filter driers (unbrazing drives moisture back into system). If tubing too short I will cut filter body and remove beads or core then umbrage ends.
I always preferred c cutting out the drier too prevent releasing any moisture they might have in them . Back long long time ago we used to reuse the d 48 core driers and put them in a oven heating them up release the moisture lots of drier cores used on grocery store start ups foundunits that high pressure problems have realeased some moisture and it freezes in the expansion valve and the vox tep raises up to 3233 degrees and starts operating again until freezes in txv again when you change the compressor and do it properly you remove the moisture and any non condensables that may have entered system from lowrefrigerant leaks on the low side failed low pressure switch
The discharge pressure always blows my mind. Our ambient never gets near what you have there. Average hot days here are low 80s. Anything above that and systems are struggling here.

Hmmm. @41:00 you seem to be confusing ounces avoirdupois (that is, the weight) with fluid ounces (that is, volume). Liquids are almost always measured via their volume; solids are usually measured via weight. "Ounce" can refer to either measurement system, but they are not the same. So, saying that the mfgr specs "40 ounces" of a liquid (volume) doesn't mean that you can compare that to the weight of 35 oz. of oil. Bear in mind, phase-change refrigerants _are_ measured by weight, so you're used to thinking in that metric.
6:00: So how is the bad discharge valve tripping the high-pressure control on the discharge line? 11:35: Doesn't the line to the recovery tank need to be purged?
Haven’t watched it yet but I know it’s gonna be great !!! Can’t wait to explore with you Chris !!!

thank you for giving me these videos that i never knew i wanted! this is a subject you would never ask for, but there is a LOT going on here. this is very interesting stuff to see this side of the coin when your walk-in takes a shite lol
Appreciate the your workmanship.
Good luck and keep up the good work!
i'm super impressed with you working on roofs all the time. i'm in texas, but i'm only on a roof for an AC unit a few times per year.
You reminded me of that one time I turned off the breaker on a condenser, I disconnected the wires and got a nice jolt. ALWAYS double check with your meter. Turns out they labeled the breaker wrong.

Test, don't guess!!
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that checks power even with the exop down. Getting electrocuted scares the crap out of me.
This guy is worth every penny
God job. Just a little tip. Move the buld into a horisontel posisiton. The liquid in it will work better when it is in contact with the kapillär, Sorray for my bad english. Greatings from Sweden.
Should be bulb - not buld......; )
Excellent video! I always learn as I watch your trouble shooting process. Thanks.
I do really love your videos especially the long ones.
Cheers for making them their awesome.
I love how he does everything right. Unlike MY boss
I'm not perfect
HVACR VIDEOS my boss does not do anything right. He replaced a compressor with me and there was a WHOLE BUNCH of fried wires and he just said “leave it” he also throws away the filter covers for ac units. He’s very bad
paul beenis how about you mind your own business. I have no idea why YOU would care you low life. Leave me alone you hater. I did nothing wrong. I’m talking with somebody else NOT including you. And your the one that’s pity. You dummy. I would do things better then you would any day.
@@dandfgarage986 no you would not
PLASMA chicken yeah the fuck I would.
The way you bent your soldering wire in an angle is pretty clever!

Awesome video master thanks for taking the time for showing step by step your the one of the best teacher
Your work and your tools are amazing. Huge respect. Subscribed. Thanks for sharing.
Ah, the sound of a screaming compressor
A sound you never forget
very good training video for hvac technician ,thanks for the hard good works
Always good to have a timedelay before the contactor!
I really enjoy watching your work and thought processes. Very good!
Good work in guesstimating. That was funny. Thank you for your videos. Learning a lot.
I am in the process of starting my own HVAC maintenance and service business, I can only hope to be as half as professional as you!
Binge watching the older videos here.... another walk in cooler that's not walkin' :)
Yes, the walk-in cooler.
Good job in explaining everything in detail. Thanks for the L.E.
Amazing work, and you take the time to put in new wiring. Keep up the great work brother.👍

It’s so interesting watching your videos. Your skill level is top notch. Thank you for making these videos 👍
thanks bud
HVACR VIDEOS My late father was a sheet metal AC installer back in the 70’s and 80’s. My old man passed in 1991. Watching your awesome videos reminds me of his trade and makes me smile. So I owe you a great deal of thanks.

Love your videos, just started into service and I’ve learned lots from your videos.
Would be cool to go to a service call with you and see the processes in person.
Liking the longer format.
Well like my ole pal Steve Lav , your also like Picasso with your torch ... Lol ... Nice neat job end to end ... Good info ...

Very well done video! Calm explanation of operation and nice visual aids. Kudos.
Bypass will close once pressure is lowered and compressor will pump fine . Have had lots bypass due to bad fan motors and they always work once cooled down
What pressure does the compressor usually bypass at?
@@HVACRVIDEOS depends on ref type .
Doug this one had 404a, so I'm trying to figure out when the compressor will bypass. How high does the head pressure have to be for it to bypass?
@@HVACRVIDEOS not sure of all the settings but we'll above a reasonable conditions temp.
Condensing temp

Lastly, you have all the fun, I got a few tons of bedding pellets in the barn and cleaned the chicken coop this weekend. 🐔💩
always good to verify no voltage as a stab could be stuck and the other 2 pull out. working in the mines ive seen several times where a stab didnt pull out or the actual linkage in the breaker box was broken. thats why we always try out equipment before work
That bad compressor sounded like a sci-fi horror movie scene.
Kinda reminds me of a Warp Core Breech on USS Voyager.
I am a air conditioning technician I live in Turkey thank you.
Great vid, thank you for your time to teach us , i'm from Chihuahua Mex.
Nice piping job.I love it you use nitro when you braze.

I'm with you on contactor labels. I hate opening a cabinet and seeing components up-side-down.
that stuff doesn't bother me any, I can read any direction good. now if my typing skills and writing skills would just catch up lol...

"Just stretch things out a bit here" legend has it that to this day the apprentice is still looking for the pipe stretcher.
I wanna see it too

I was always taught to cut out filter driers (unbrazing drives moisture back into system). If tubing too short I will cut filter body and remove beads or core then umbrage ends.
I will discuss this on my Livestream this evening 4/19/21 @ 5:PM (pacific) come check it out ruclips.net/video/_Sj8XRrpgGA/видео.html
I understand it's sun protection, but if i saw a guy dressed like that on a roof with a torch i wouldn't presume he is repairing something 😄
Great video Chris. You seem to find multiple offenders quite often. Great work.

Lol love the “some peoples kids “ hahahahaha
Just what I needed a sleeve hung compressor to fall asleep to. Makes me laugh
Some times auto correct is mean
55 min = pure awsomenes
