6. cxd4 isn't a bad move, but the computer prefers taking the knight with the bishop, the stats show that cxd4 has a lower win rate for Black, and it's not the main line.
Trench warfare.... French Psychology. Italian chess is same behaviors in Italians football. Russians love methodical technique and Americans love aggressiveness.
After king bishop to Knight 5....white Queen Bishop to Q2 counters the absolute pin.... creates luft.. space on whites first rank... develops the Queen Bishop. Bishop to Q2 first then pawn to Q rook 3?...that is .....in response to the absolute pin.
Mistake: At 3:32, you said that white has a good position; you were supposed to say black. Mistake: At 6:55, you said "take the knight here" when you meant to say "take the pawn here". Despite the mistake you made, your content is excellent and it has helped me play chess significantly.
That's exactly why I play it. I want to hear an audible groan the moment e6 hits the board. That's right we're doing this and you can't stop it. However, it's really funny to me how aggressive minded beginners frequently play directly in to the exchange variation, unknowingly entering the most boring and dry line the french has. If white wants a more imbalanced tactical game the exchange is the last thing they should do.
0:34 you don't explain a3, it seems to lose a pawn for white. At 3:02 nf3 seems to lose a pawn on c3, why wouldn't black just take this? Stopped watching afterwards, too many unexplained variations.
after white plays a3 then black takes the knight with the pawn, white plays Qg4 attacking ur g and e pawns. usually black plays Nf6, then after white takes the g pawn, black plays Rg8 which leaves you down a pawn but with counterplay as the queen is in an awkward spot and ur ahead in development
0:00 Intro and how to handle sidelines

7:27 Pawn Advance (dxc5)
8:40 Exchange Variation
11:35 Ne2 Variation
14:25 Bd3 Variation
16:07 Bd2 Variation
You are awesome. I've added this to the description as well.
3:00 I think Qxd3 is the best forking the king and rook if white decides to capture said pawn.
At 4:20 why not take bishop with pawn on a3 and then if the pawn at c3 does capture pawn at b2 the bishop can take it out
Please make a video on the Catalan opening.
Very good video, thanks for going into great detail of this variation!
literally about to search for "chess website frenchdefence" lol ty x
Good video! The chess board is a lot closer now! Keep this up my man!
Glad you liked it.
3:07 before nc6 you can just take the pawn on c3 if you are afraid of queen traps just go back at least you gained a pawn

Surely at 3:03 after White Nf3 - Black's move would be Qxc3 for the fork? Am I missing something?
Orlando Harrison Qxc3+ Bd2 no more fork white is ahead in dev
@@TueurSacrit yes, thank you.
Nice variations!
At 3:50, why not instead Queen takes in d4?
It's a playable line that's answered with Nc6
Very instructive video.
Video on Fort Knox variation?
Welcome back!
Thank you!!!

I really like the French defence, it will help me a lot
5:42 not really an ‘outpost’ because black is not casting queenside so white can play g4 and castle queenside
finally a video

Who's here after giri's course?

You are an idiot
6:55 Kevin maybe meant to say take with the knight here
I'm not going to lie, French defense bores me insanely

Beginner opening, but I caught some people off guard with this
