Of course, there are better router tables and routers on the market. But it is hard to beat that price for what you get with this combo. You don’t need the guide pin if you’re using a template because you’re using a guide bushing. Also, watch your directions when running around your template. Back and forth scrubbing isn’t safe.
It seems like it could be acceptable for a first time router! I’m in the market for one and for my specialized use this should be fine, given the bit height doesn’t change while using it. That loctite tip is invaluable, too.
I would agree. This product is not for everyone. But if you want a table router on a budget, and do not want to make one yourself, this might be a good fit. Thanks for watching!
Just bought this to replace an old craftsman similar size. I took your advice and used the thread locker. Only thing I see I don't like so far is the throat plate insert is about 1/32 lower than the table and I build board cut slingshots and that's gonna be a problem due to the small size of the material getting snagged with each pass. Any suggestions. Clear acrylic to cover it maybe?
That's a good question. The only thing that comes to mind right now is a layer of wax so that pieces dont snag as they are being processed. A custom made piece of acrylic could work too, but I don't know anyone who makes those for this setup. I will look to see what others have done and let you know if I find a better solution. @@jkwwoodworks Thanks for the reply. I was looking underneath and I see the black round inset that the red throat inserts are placed has three screws coming up from the bottom holding it. I may remove the router tomorrow and see if it’s possible to loosen them and make some really thin washers to shim it upwards a tad. If that isn’t feasible I may just try to fasten a thin sheet of acrylic to make it flush. I don’t imagine many people will have this issue due to most are probably going to be dealing with longer materials which is probably what it’s designed for.

Your video is 8 month# old, but Amazon just put it on sale again for $159 in May of 24. I grabbed it, and it just showed up. Unfortunately there was a big ding right on the front edge of the table that messed up the laminate surface interfering with the function of the table. There was another ding in the edge of the table that did not interfere with function. Other RUclips videos have pointed out that this is a common problem, which is disappointing. I was just getting my confidence back in Skill Tools, but I was highly disappointed that this router table was damaged with multiple dings right our of the box, and getting it packed back up is nearly impossible as it is packed like an origami jigsaw puzzle. Pay attention to how all that cardboard is folded, because there’s a good chance you’ll have to pack it back up and send it back. Apparently Quality Control is still lacking at Skill.
I'm sorry to hear that. The one I got didn't have that problem. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. As far as the tool itself, I have had it almost a year and it still works well. I guess as long as you get it delivered in one piece, it will last.
@@jkwwoodworks Thanks! Amazon is sending me a replacement. I really want to like this tool. I bought the Skill table saw, and couldn’t love it more. Skill knocked it out of the park with that saw, and at about half price of other job site saws, and everything I’ve seen indicates the router table will do a good job on most routing jobs, but not so much as a jointer, but I don’t intend to use it for that. Was hoping to build some simple cabinets for my garage with raised panel doors. Since they’ll be in the garage, the project will be a good opportunity to hone my skill (pun intended) with too much worry of screwing them up.

Could you explain what “very unique” is?
In the video, we discuss making unique projects. Projects that aren't common and one of kind. Using patterns to trace designs is something this router table allows you to do without breaking your budget. We have tried to do this with a jig saw with some success. However, we get better results with the router table especially when we are using patterns with curves. The jig saw leaves jagged edges where the router leaves smooth edges. No sir, but it's comparable to the harbor freight price. The router is better quality than the router available at harbor freight.
I got mine at Woodcraft Supply 200.00 and no, Skil has been around for many years.

I didn't get pass 1 min of your video. Anyone that has that many Ryobi tools hanging on a wall obviously doesn't have a good sense of what a good quality tool is .
Well, we appreciate you watching the first minute. Ryobi is not the best tool brand on the market. However, their price point is unbeatable. Anyone starting out should consider ryobi. For the price of one or two dewalt tools, you can get 6 or 7 ryobi tools. Feel free to donate to us so that we can purchase new dewalt tools. Thanks

I'm sorry to hear that. This isn't for everyone. Like you said, it is small but I also have a small work space so it works for me. Hopefully everything else goes well for you and your shop.
