Can You Beat Borderlands 2 as a Normal Person?

  • For all of its ups and downs, I adore Borderlands. I've come back to it year after year. More recently to take on various challenges of which there are apparently opportunities galore. And as much as I've enjoyed it, it's been even better to share that passion with so many wonderful people, so... thank you for coming along for the ride. I really hope that it's been worth the fare.
While normality is relative, I thought it'd be fun to take on the game as a fairly unnoteworthy individual. And might I just say, I didn't think common guns were so inaccurate. I've used them when they came around for ages, but dang...
The specific rules are as follows:
    1. No using skill points.
    2. No gear of a rarity uncommon or higher.
    3. No class mods/relics.
    4. No elemental weapons. Yes, this includes explosive launchers/Tediore. The only exceptions are grenades.
    5. No using shields that do damage/grenades that do anything other than blow up.
    6. No melee within combat, nor bouncing upon thine enemies heads.
    7. No buying healing...

I think we all go through things that we don't want to in an effort to avoid things we want even less. Brushing your teeth kinda sucks, but you should do it to avoid tooth decay. On Pandora, sometimes ya gotta cause some possibly severe injuries to avoid lethal ones.

With the industry being as vast as it is, I think it's just a matter of time. I think it comes with a combination of it being a really fun game to play and the sheer variety that the game has available. I am still hoping that the looter shooter genre could get something that's both sizable and offline compatible in the near future though. Too many live service games for my taste.

It's the "if they can" that's the key there. Luck is weird. In this run for instance, I'm fairly sure I found more uncommons than commons, which is more or less exactly in line with how RNG tends to go for me. Always exactly the thing I can't have/don't want.

Shields make sense because they are just the equivalent of protective armor which are I guess pretty normal to wear in combat situations
Skillpoints, I mean....some are alright like , gun accuracy or critical would just mean that you gained more experience in that type of gun which is normal to be more skillful in a gun you use more often

I'm sorry to hear it, but I hope that you're doing alright. The healing process is usually a rather painful one, but by the end of it, you should ideally be stronger for it with a better vision of your future. Learning experiences can often be absolutely agonizing, but I would hope that you can one day look back on it and see it as just that. In the meantime, I'm rooting for you. One step at a time until you can wear a smile as bright as the happiness that you deserve.

So far, I've only gone through it once, so I'm not super familiar with some of the facets of it. Do you mean the Lucky Dice or something like the Die-Vergent? I don't know if there are other weapons that function similarly, but I enjoy the idea of both runs conceptually.

    • @aluminunfalcon9370

@SpuddyCube Yes, the lucky dice. There is only a limited amount of them scattered across the map, and literally rolling the dice on whether or not you get anything good sounds so horrible that It might be fun. I also believe you can't save/reload those dice rolls.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I hope that the healing process feels more like healing and less like a process. I'm really glad that you could stop to enjoy something, and that I could have that kind of effect. Always remember that it's okay to feel, and grief really doesn't have a time limit.
I can't speak for your personal life or those around you, but I believe you owe it to yourself to take all of the time you need to go through the things you need to. It's not about getting back to who you were before such a major change. It's about finding the person that you'll be after.

White-label Jakobs revolvers are the only ones that are top-break. Since they're also single-action (unless you're Sal and you're zerking), that makes them basically similar to the Smith & Wesson Schofield.
11:11 Dahl Double Tap. Tragically underrated. When fired while aiming, it fires a 4-round burst in a 2x2 configuration.
18:29 Bandit shotguns and rocket launchers are alright as long as they're level-appropriate and green or better. If it's a shotgun, it'll be fine as long at it has a Bandit or Torgue barrel. If it has a Torgue barrel, it'll be blue or better.
18:54 Why's she referred to as a "child?" This is five years after BL1. She'd have to have had been in her 20s by this point.
21:58 Brick isn't just a pugilist. He's also a demoman. Mordy isn't just a sniper-falconer. He's also a pistoleer-swordsman. The Torgue Cobra from BL1 was better on Brick than it was on Mordy despite it being a "sniper" rifle (technically a "payload" rifle).
22:01 Why does he bother carrying Sledge's hammer on his back if he doesn't use it? Sledge's helmet is muh fave head for Sal, mostly for nostalgia.
22:26 If you were doing greens-only, that could be a good enough shield-breaker against Jack. Body, barrel, and grip are all Maliwan. Exhaust port is Tediore which adds neither bonus nor penalty if I recall. Not sure about the scope, but it looks like it could be Vladof. I forget what that does. Scopes alter one or more stats on launchers, right? It's subtle and doesn't make enough difference to prioritize over other details. Personally, I prefer Torgue sights on all launchers.

I still stand by handsome Jack isn't evil at least not fully poor angel

    • @SpuddyCube
      @SpuddyCube  Год назад

Based on his character across the games, I feel like he's arguably very evil. The Pre Sequel paints a picture of a fairly average guy who has historically had to cope with a lot of really horrible events. He was powerless to deal with things like his upbringing, the kidnapping of his daughter, the loss of his wife...
The tables turned later in his life. He lost a lot of humanity on/around Elpis. He became a lot more powerful in terms of economics and politics within the company. As he became more confident, it became more apparent that he was held back by societal expectations rather than an inner sense of morality. When there were no consequences for his actions, he went pretty wild.
Regardless of how he started though, he became quickly and thoroughly corrupted by power. As the saying goes, you can tell a lot about a person based on how they treat those beneath them rather than their equals. When Borderlands two came along, everyone was beneath him, and...
I think he used to love his daughter. Before her passing, I think he was more in love with the idea of her. The mild mannered well behaved doll of a person that she just... wasn't. He was actively forcing her into a mold of the person he wanted, which is fundamentally bad parenting. With such quotes in combat as , "my Angel was happy!" He didn't know who she actually was, and I would argue that he didn't love her at all anymore. Simply the version of her that he created in his head.
