An issue with dubbing companies is that they always seem very localised. So any character that appears on screen will have that obvious English American voice and when they attempt to do an accent it doesn't work very well. I feel like a lot of dubs would sound way better if they just had someone from the country of the character's origin say the lines in English. Not just that but I feel like a lot of English voice actors don't put emotion into their lines. A lot of it feels like reading the lines like you're reading a book. The VA for Joseph here did a great job though and the polite and cunning voice he has is amazing. I think the VA's for JJBA Dub are all great at their job as well.

He is hilarious, charming, badass, cunning, and wacky all at the same time. Not to mention adding that British accent on top of it all was just the cherry on top.
Yeah. The accents in Battle Tendency really fit so well with the characters whether it's Stroheim's German, Caesar's and Suzi Q's Italian, or Joseph's and Lisa Lisa's British. The voice actors did a great job with the accents. They should have just kept them for Stardust Crusaders and Golden Wind.

I think I might be in the low minority that actually prefers the dubs of Parts 1,2 and 3 over the Japanese. Don't get me wrong the Japanese sub is really good,but the something about the accents and how much the actors were trying to put in a genuinely gripping performance leads to the characters being far more memorable. Whenever I think of someone like Von Stroheim I'd immediately have his dub German accent come screeching into my head,or with another character like Speedwagon it's his thick British accent that plays in my head whenever I go back and read the manga
Honestly, I see the dub as nearly equal to the sub. Tbh the only issue is the fact that they gotta use the Censored/Localisation names but the actors are talented so it’s sad it gets over-hated like it does
I agree, I love all the dubbings and it's a shame that others hate on it so frequently. It's also great for people who can't read as fast as the Japanese VA's speak, like myself
Im dyslexic so subtitles (especially fast subtitles like in Jojo) give me a lot of trouble and I can't read them fast enough so I usually watch dubs. Jojo's dub is one of the best ones I've watched and I loved it. Imo the dub makes Jojo 5× funnier, especially in part 3. It works for a show like Jojo for the dub to be goofy.
Joseph remains my top favorite Jojo in the old continuity! 😂 He’s Hilarious! The best part about the tequila scene (aside from the guards shouting ouchies when cast aside I think) is the fact Joseph takes both their uniforms😂
Benjamin Diskin’s Joseph voice is just straight up canon. Johnny Yong Bosch’s Jonathan is good but nothing incredible Matt Mercer’s Jotaro is also really good (bonus points for him previously having been a fan of the manga and for throwing in an Overwatch reference in the final fight with DIO) but also not 100% perfect Josuke (rest in peace Billy Kametz, fuck cancer), Giorno, and Jolyne fall into this boat as well but absolutely none of them beat Ben’s (and by extension Richard Epcar’s) Joseph Joestar

Watching this years later. Both versions are top notch. As a lover of Codename Kid Next Door I loved the fact that Numbah 1 plays Joseph lol it’s just so good! Both versions kick ass!!

Honestly, I see the dub as nearly equal to the sub. Tbh the only issue is the fact that they gotta use the Censored/Localisation names but the actors are talented so it’s sad it gets over-hated like it does

I agree, I love all the dubbings and it's a shame that others hate on it so frequently. It's also great for people who can't read as fast as the Japanese VA's speak, like myself
Im dyslexic so subtitles (especially fast subtitles like in Jojo) give me a lot of trouble and I can't read them fast enough so I usually watch dubs. Jojo's dub is one of the best ones I've watched and I loved it. Imo the dub makes Jojo 5× funnier, especially in part 3. It works for a show like Jojo for the dub to be goofy.

Honestly watching this after finishing what's yet of the anime is super weird. The art style has changed A LOT. And Araki's writing style has also changed a lot
