    If that game was played this year, there would have been at least 10 red cards and several more yellows.

    A lot more entertaining than a post-2010 test match. The match today has more TV recalls and stoppages than anybody deserves.
    Love Gibbs and Guscott as a centre pairing

    I wouldn't call it violent I would call it tough but fair. A credit to both teams. I watched the last test series bootathon between these two it was simply awful. The game has definitely regressed.

      @@fazertace6837 haha “part time rugby fan”. Class comment. I was there at that game my friend, and a few other Lion’s matches to boot! What I meant, for what it’s worth, is that you don’t often see Gibbs up there on the list of best centres very often, which I think he was. Never ceases to amaze me how social media emboldens people to make snide comments without actually knowing the first thing about the person. All the best.

    • @fazertace6837

      @@edwardstroud8245 Scott Gibbs was only underrated because he was welsh. Welsh people never thought of him as underrated. Or rugby experts. One thing that really gets my back up is when individuals say that certain players are “underrated” unless they come from england or the southern hemisphere. So its a typical reaction. Maybe not from a part time rugby fan, but certainly from a one eyed rugby fan.

    • @edwardstroud8245
      @edwardstroud8245 Год назад +1

      @@fazertace6837 again, you’re making a judgment with knowing anything about me. Mate, I grew up admiring all the Welsh greats from their golden era - Barry John, Edwards, JPR, JJ Williams etc etc, and the best side stepper of all Phil Bennet. Rugby is a global sport anyway, so yeah the Welsh may have always put Gibbs up there, but not on the global stage, despite that 1997 tour. Fair enough if you have a differing opinion, but no need for the disparaging remarks like ‘part time fan’ or ‘one eyed fan’.

  • @markdyer2155
    @markdyer2155 Год назад +2

    That was a hard match, but not violent. For that look at 1991 RWC quarterfinal ruclips.net/video/lAjm4hgIyhQ/видео.html where Eng went out to kick France off every ball - and they succeeded. Hurrah.
    The prize though must go to any match where Colin Meads played - the man was an animal and I don't mean that as a compliment - he nearly pulled a leg off someone who was in a ruck and spent most of his lines-out treading on feet and elbowing into ribs.
