All these years later I still can't believe Flowers played the game again, and the police didn't investigate it for assault. Crazy to see that now.
Was it reported to the Police as an assault?
@@georgepatterson3428you know the police can investigate a crime regardless if it is reported?
I still think Ben Flower was lucky not to be prosecuted, compare that to the Terry Butcher prosecution for Rangers
Terry Butcher prosecution at Rangers? What did he do?
@@mikemurphy2880 Look it up in google or youtube but,in short,he pushed Frank McAvennie in the chest in a Rangers/Celtic match
A few of the tackles at the end were legal, just monstrous hits
Ben Flowers should have done time in prison.
The Flower incident t was assault
It's a pity that in most sports they have the stance of "What happens on the field, stays on the field". Although it can be dealt with by a judiciary, there must be a line that if crossed, it goes to the police.
A clear cut case of assault is assault, and should go to the police, and not allowed to play again until all court proceedings are over. Even if it takes a year.
Nope...Ben Flower did what he should have done...The other guy took him out off the ball, if you look at the whole play. Flower was baited and look what happens when you bait the wrong person...f#$& around and find out
@@RobHawthorn Flower acted like a cowardly thug
@@fireskycam9889 Nah it was just how the game was played back then. It's a lot different now. If you think that was vicious, you should have seen what players in that era did to each other in training
Ben Flower basically ended Lance Hohaia’s playing career after that assault on him. Hohaia had to retire not long after that match because of the recurring concussion symptoms.
Love the way
they look so shocked to be sent off
A dirty play presentation without Farrell in it is not complete. The dirtiest player in rugby.
Really? Look back at the 1970s Lions Tour to South Africa. The dirtiest tournament in history, just ask Graham Price.
@@redsidebiker As I said, it was a tough tour, but that was well before Farrell started playing rugby.
@@Ehm593 Nobody mentioned when our sport was amateur (or in several clubs worldwide, including mine, shamatuer). A comment mentioned Farrell. He'd have been minced meat in the amatuer era in the Southern Hemisphere.
Dumb comment. Some of these are actual assaults on prone players. Farrell just hits a bit high with questionable arm wrap.
A few were simply great tackles though like Courtney Lawes near the end.
I was just thinking that
The 4:04 neck roll is probably one of the worst things I've witnessed on the pitch. Everytime that clips crops up it makes me feel sick.
Just shy of 10 mins left to watch so not sure if anything quite tops that one yet...
I've been watching rugby for over 50 years. Two fouls stand out for me.
1/ Steve Finnanes' sucker punch on Graham Price which shatttered Price's jaw.
2/ The kick that shattered Doddie Weir's knee.
Both were cowardly assaults that should have resulted in police charges.
Some of these go on so long and have so little to do with the game that they're just assaults. Never mind the disciplinary panel, they ought to be prosecuted.
Agree
Kudos for the Ref's and You Rugby Drive! All hail to the viewers too! Great video, hands down!
Calum Clark chickenwing arm-breaking Rob Hawkins needs in there. That was a ridiculous cheap shot.
Will include it in the next one brother☝️
Seemed to remember raking used to be allowed if player was offside and ref wouldn’t protect you as a result.
Barratt's foot in the face was not as intentional as others who have put their foot up when catching a ball.
Very True
I think his red card was changed to a yellow at judiciary. He was able to prove his leg went up like that for ballance.
@@11happychap Thanks for the clarification. I think I heard that it happened but wasn't quiet sure. I have seen a couple of really nasty boots to the face though, and they appeared intentional.
Barrett's should have been a yellow against Koroibete, player in the air is supposed to be protected, this was far and away the worst card I have ever seen. Vulnerable player taken in the air and gets red carded.
@@sqwazareThe hell are you smoking? Koroibete was in a position to take Barrett as he landed, not in the air. Barrett led with his studs into the opposing player's face, and that's the primary contact in that exchange. While the player in the air generally has more protection under the rules, that doesn't give them the right to make reckless and aggressive actions in midair, no matter their justifications after the fact. That's a clear red card no matter what sport you're playing.
Still amazes me how some of the players given red look confused about their marching orders. What a bunch of palookas.
You could dedicate 10 min of cheap shots just by owen farrel
To be fair if i looked like Ste from Hollyoaks id be pissed off all the time too....
😂
True 🤣
Ooo yes. Owen
Still crying about him (playing 10)smashing your big, hard-hitting, no.12….for the win?’
Smashed your boy.
Cry more.
You missed out the “star” of foul play Richard Lowe form NZ
Remember him training us at Ohaupo Rugby Club back in the 80's. It was a great experience 👍🏼
Loe by name, low by nature
Agree, he’ll never live that one down either although we’ve seen much worse from the South Africans, the French and English players.
Duncan McRae on Ronan O'Gara; the quintessential cheap shot.
About 10 of them...
DAVE Wilson, quite agree, should have been prosecuted, the only good thing was the fact it shut O'Garas mouth for a time
How some players aren't banned for life and sued is shocking.
Annoying music. Sound off.
Would help if the poster knew the difference between Rugby and Rugby League
And yet you never shown the tirade of punches on ROG or the double spear tackle on O'Driscoll
Horrendous background repetitious sound track...deserves a red card!
Fair Enough, noted
My mother once asked my dads mate who both played amateur rugby league years ago on Sunday mornings what he got out of it. His reply ." I can get away with committing GBH"😂
LMAO
Still have to give credit to Ashton for taking 3 big hits from Tualagi and stay standing.
great video enjoyed watching but can you please include in the next vide some clips from the neath v south africa match that went down in local folk law has the battle of the gnoll
Some of the footage was League. When I think of Rugby, it Rugby Rugby, not Rugby League
And when league players and fans think of rugby we often think about how snotty, arrogant and pathetically angry w***kers like you get because of the mere exsistance of rugby league. Same attitude that made a very large middle aged man verbally attack a 10 year old boy in the changing room at a union club because he and his friends played league and one of them was keeping his public schoolboy son out of the team.
"You're nothing but common filth and you don't belong here!"
I'll remember that to my last breath.
We went back to our league clubs where we were treated with respect and like the kids we were.
I can watch and enjoy both for what they are because I'm not a hate filled snob
I agree!! There is Rugby, then there is this other stupid sport called League that has nothing to do with World Rugby! It’s like a hardcore version of soccer at best.
@@CarkCark-u9j Ones Rugby Union, ones Rugby League. Both start with the word Rugby, so no prob
@@groovedohg it’s still not rugby though. Don’t care what you try to call it. Just like American Football and European Football aren’t both soccer…
@@CarkCark-u9j Tad ignorant,& snobbish
The Ben Flower one was a disgrace
That Courtney Lawes tackle at the end, was not a dirty tackle! He didn’t get carded. It remains one of the most brutal…LEGAL, tackles of all time.
Not keen on some of the recent developments in our game but the shocking footage is well in the past. Some of the incidents were not foul play they were assault worthy of a criminal offence in day to day life. It’s a tough game and I loved it, we respected each other.
Great video spoiled by very annoying background musak
It’s a pity that some footage of incredibly dirty play has been buried by time, poor memory and old technology. Otherwise it’s only come out later.
I remember some particularly dirty incidents like Drikus Hattingh kicking I think it was a Hurricanes or Highlanders player in the head right in front of the ref and getting an immediate red card in the late 1990’s in a Super Rugby game. The other player was left unconscious.
Oddly enough Drikus Hattingh was later tormenting a younger player in a Pretoria club rugby game. He received a huge blow to the face and a broken jaw.
I remember how in 1993 Balie Swart was left unconscious from NZ rucking and how Francois Pienaar had to be carried from the field in a tour game from the same NZ tour after one ruck.
There was also Burger Geldemhuys of then Northern Transvaal breaking the jaw of a NZ Cavaliers player in a 1986 game.
Johan Le Roux was a serial biter. There was the time he bit the ear of Fitzpatrick and got rightly banned for that. Little known was that years before he bit Adrian Garvey of the Natal Sharks in the face harshly while playing for Transvaal in the early 1990’s. Somehow the Ref was clueless.
I also remember the eye gouging of the French players against Australia in the 1999 RWC final. I think the ref at one point called the captains together, pointed to John Eales’ eyes and said to the French captain ‘No more. Go talk to your players.’ It later emerged the French forwards were also striking there Australian forwards in the testicles.
The dirtiest of all you never showed. Two New Zealand players nearly ended BOD career with the spear tackle. All because people were calling him as good as Richie McCaw. Guess they didn't like that. I have seen worse tackles than you have shown. There are better pics out there
Please add a link to your video, considering you can do better.
@maalijedda2156 it was absolutely disgusting! You should be ashamed to call yourself a rugby supporter!
@@maalijedda2156 I am not the one putting them up, but if I did you can be sure it would be better than yours
@@scottaskew8408 enlighten me, Why should I be ashamed to call myself a rugby supporter
@@PatrickKelly-hj4qm my apologies, I misinterpreted your comment!
Should've shown some from the 60s 70s 80s
10:00
Thats called a torpedo tackle. No arms. High up. Excessive force. Nowhere near the ball. The most unnecessary and most reckless piece of thuggery ive ever seen on a rugby field
That neck twisting was attempted murder in my book. Should have been put in prison for that.
Manual Tuilagi proving that not all the Tuilagi brothers are hard
O'Driscoll broken collar bone playing against NZ for Lions
I was thinking that myself.😂
Sonny Bill Williams' shoulder charge on Anthony ??? during the B&I Lions' tour of New Zealand.
Richard Lowe's forearm across the nose of a Australian player after the Ozzie scored a tri.
Choosen not to show any of Owen Farrell cheap shots or are you planning a video dedicated just to him?
Have a 30 minute video dedicated to Owen Farrell 🤣
“In History”?? I guess history only started in 2000
You could have added the Peter O’mahony hit on Stuart Hogg which gave him that injury he had to retire from. Think it was 2018? Or the Rob Kearney one on Stuart Hogg in the 2016 Pro14 final where he gets knocked out in the air? Absolutely brutal couple a ones.
He came out of retirement...so
nearly rips another man's head off xD damn red card what did I do.. it didn't even come off
The worst one was league, its not rugby mate
i miss the good ol’ days when someone would throw a head punch and the commentators would say “that could be 10 in the bin”
hahahah fair play to ya
The good old days of fat amateurs thug with inadequatecy issues are thankfully long gone rugby not thuggery.
Surely the Manu Tuilagi hit on Chris Ashton was assualt???
Why have you put Courtney Lawes tackle on Plisson - ref literally said good timing
Holy shit these make Bakkies Botha look like a saint. 🤣
As sad as it is to say, Hohaia F’d around and found out
A red card is insufficient when there is a deliberate attempt to injure another player. Court action with jail time and/or heavy fines should be possible. Perhaps players should be required to carry "malpractice" insurance.
And not one Owen Farrell special
😂😂😂😂😂 I thought this was a reel dedicated to him when I read the title!
That could be a full video
Some of these are common assault and need sending to the police, I don’t know about a card!
Sheesh 🤣
@@rugbydrive ?
Wasn’t a Gloucester rugby player tried and convicted of assault and battery in the 1990’s?
Some of these be straight up attempted murder!
Ouch
Some of these fouls should be prosecuted by the police not red carded.
Great comment specifically "mentality". Professionally we keep it to topic, not personalities. Perhaps a learning. Thank you.
Thanks!
Absolutely!
What about Mendez v Ackford talk about a cheap shot
To True
@@rugbydrive That's b****ocks!
The South African spectator who assaulted Dave McHugh, the Irish referee in the 2002 test against the All Blacks was as bad as any in an actual game.
Do all you rugby channels share each others content as I've seen all of these many many times.??
I thought rugby players were 'real' men, but every one of these clips is a cheap shot or blind side attack. Not as tough as they think they are obviously.🙄
That's because it's a compilation of "Dirtiest fouls" not sure I've seen many dirty fouls that came with any sense of fair play and commardary. There's plenty of fair play/accidental red card clips out there too but they're not really dirty.
So a compilation of dirty fouls is full of fouls? WHO COULD HAVE PREDICTED THAT?!? 🙄
Tuillaghi brothers leading the way
The sly punches and stamps don't gain you an advantage, just get you sent off and your team then has to cope with one less player
Yessir
Is this really a sport? Obvious assault charges should be filed
Some of these tackles are perfect. What a soft game.
My Grandad walked from the soccer field for the last time ( he played for Middlesbrough in 1899 ) after he decked the ref.
These arent the worst the worst was back in the amateur days
Tana Umaga spear tackle on O'Driscoll....how on earth did he not get sent off !
I remember that stormers v Leinster game and I don't think anything happened to number eight for head but. I could be wrong but definitely think I am right. He got away with one
At 6:12. Was only the yellow-shirt player given a card? He had an elbow in his face the whole time.
Should've been both
I wish you would explain each clip!
Noted!
Missed Paul accord getting poleaxed by that young Argentinian
Try to keep league and union separate. Thank you.
damn bro I didn't realize you get to decide what this youtube channel is allowed to post or not
From now on try to keep yourself and your rotten brain separate from the rest of the world. Thank you.
Thugby at its' best...one clip is from an NRL game (MEL / WST) and another from a GB/AUS RL Test match.
To think that Rugby was once played by "educated gentlemen"..some of these blokes can't decipher the difference between a head and the ball.
You obviously don't know your sport. The sport played at 8:06 is NOT union. It's league.
The same with 9:25
It said "rugby" it didn't specify which code
Some good rugby clips but the music was annoying as - uck
The last couple of plays was just hard hits not dirty. What are you smoking
Why are leicester players such thugs.. Richards and Johnson both too handy with their fists, and tualagi is just a thug who should never even be allowed on a rugby ground
Morley is just a fool.
Of course the worst ones are league. Nothing but angry Australians 😂
Does any one know if the kid at 12:28 survived?
That was a legal tackle......no head contact, and he wrapped his arms
Can someone explain the incident at 3.47? Punching and kneeing an unconscious player? Who was that?
Think that's Andy Hazell
He had received loads of cheap shots and nothing had happened. The last straw was the player had stuck his fingers in his eyes and he’s reacted
@@saffamatt8612 Just read he had a 14 week ban. Also retired due to concussion sideeffects. Wonder how he's doing now?
His supporters have some story about him being provoked into doing it, but even years after the incident not one bit of footage backing that up has ever come out. So it looks like he just flipped and then tried to justify it afterwards.
A tu6., 😂Slide clipboard items to delete them😮
Please make it clear when including league clips. Different sports
ben flowers should be sent to damn jail
Sturar hogg red at 2:47 is absolutely ridiculous
Rugby without the homicidal behaviour is boring actually
Couple hits a day keeps the doctor away
😂funny
It was very disappointing not to see NZ's double spear tackle on BOD during the Lion's tour. If ever there was a foul of all fouls, it must be this incident
This is not a sport.
🤔
Faut vraiment être con pour agir comme ça sachant que tout est filmé
95% of them, i would be d**d
AFL all the way...
Hmmm nah
1:30 Want to tell me Mcaw is not offside there?
Give blood, play rugby.
🙏🏻
Soft
No simpathy for Richie McCaw, he's as dirty as they come, rucking out should be brought back
Absolute garbage. Paying to the limits of the law is not dirty, and he never committed the violence that was committed against him, the cowardly and cheap shots. Making claims that have no basis in fact is dishonest. Prove where he was dirty? These assaults on him were the dirty ones.
@@Carlo42 🤣🤣🤣🤣 aye ok mate...
@@Carlo42 bang on.McCaw's real crime was he was too good, and the AB captain. The thuggish acts v McCaw were only tolerated because they had to find a way to take McCaw out of the game.

Dylan Hartley's assault on Sean O'Brien should be in this list. ruclips.net/video/TGUUW7NeiUQ/видео.html
Okay video; but you could make a better one with just All Blacks. No Richard Loe or John Ashworth?
2:13 NZ players always look so shocked when they get red 🟥🤣
