I remember this game like it was yesterday and I have never watched a game where there was so much tension and let's be brutally honest, Hatred between two teams , the French were convinced that they would win and this England team was full of bloody minded characters who said that you won't, I know one thing there were some serious rugby players on both sides and they gave everything they had , there have been better games but nothing matches the electric atmosphere of that afternoon, it was primeval.
I remember this game very well! How much faster and free flowing than todays game. So much more exciting !

That French team was loaded with sheer genius and talent. I’d pick Guscott and a couple of other English players to get on a combined team of the two.
