Welsh people just seem to neutrally have beautiful effortless voices. CZJ killed it in Chicago. JOJ is a top 3 JVJ and Phantom.

@@Bowling_Dude Oh yes! Quick change crews are something else. When I was in Billy Elliot we had all hands on deck for the finale as we all have to quick change into tutus and tap shoes. Now for most of my run I had this one main lady that looked after me, she was lovely and so gentle. She never missed a beat. Then one night comes and she's got the night off, she's in the audience with her daughter watching the show. I have forgotten this by the end of the show, and go to my quick change station to be met by this gruff old man who prepped my tutu, looked me in the eye and said "sorry mate" then hoisted my tutu up with such speed and power I damn near lifted on the ground! I could barely breathe, let alone sing and dance once I was back onstage. Best part was, my usual quick change guru new exactly what had happened the moment I came back onstage :P They are an integral piece of theatre!
After seeing the Phantom performance with Nicole Sherzinger just the other day, John instantly grabbed my attention. A (new) huge fan, and the fact that he listens to metal before a performance, well that just amazing.
John Owen-Jones is my all-time favorite Valjean (and Phantom)! His voice is just perfection! I *_SO_* want to see him play Valjean someday! Hopefully, I will see him before he gets too old to play the character...
John is so wonderful and talented. He is also so kind.

I got to meet him on his second to last performance this year at Les Mis on Broadway. He was one of the most centered and kindest men you will ever meet. Such a blessing

WELSH ACTORS REPRESENT
What a joke!! the guy does not mention or discuss the character he is playing!! just a selfish git who spends 3 minutes saying how he made it!! THIS IS NOT A CHARACTER STUDY!! ITS THE BIOGRAPHY OF JOHN OWEN JONES
He discusses the character and musical for the first 43 seconds of this video. Besides there are so many other actors and online studies that provide an in-depth analysis of the character - there's no reason for him to not be different and offer insight into his own life.
And when does he say he "made" the character? He goes on to explain how much he enjoys the role and how he has learned from the character over the years as well as how his personal life has influenced his portrayal.
If you've seen any interviews of him or even met him you would know he is down to earth and kindhearted.
And besides, he is one talented performer - easily one of, if not _the_ best Valjean's AND Phantoms.
