The Definition of a Sport Tour...FJR1300. I’ve ridden everything available in the US from Aprillia to Zero electric. I’ve owned my gen 1 FJR for 19 years and 80k flawless miles now. It’s watched several other bikes come and go in my garage over the years. I’ve never once considered selling or trading this bike off. It’s as reliable as the sun and it’s extremely easy and inexpensive to do maintenance on. I’m also not a fan of any bike that has a chain to maintain while out crushing big miles.

Two REALLY stand out this year. The Guzzi and the Suzuk - heart or head? - are the picks by far. Just impatiently waiting for the pricing on the Guzzi. And hard not to like the FJR.

    Good video, thanks.
l hope if you ever do this again you would include the fuel capacity and range. At the end of the day if you are touring especially in some places where garages (fuel stations) are few and far between, its a very important consideration which can break or make a roadtrip.

    A great vid as usual.
It's good to see a gentle resurgence of the sports-tourer after a few years in exile. I don't have an issue with adventure bikes, like I do with SUVs, but it is obvious that the tall bikes did push out the pure road machines for a while.
I think that for traditional sports-touring, with the emphasis on sports, it would have to be the new Suzuki GT or the Kawasaki SX GT.
Personally, I like things a little bit different, so it would be the MG V100 or the BMW RS.
I think that people can be a bit silly, the RT is the kitchen sink tourer in the R lineup.
Thanks again, for another great video.

But if I was to get rid of it, my first pick would be the Multistrada V2S Travel... great looking bike, comfy riding position, excellent build quality, plenty of performance, and almost as many goodies as the RT. Pricier than the competition, but well worth it in my book.

Had the DCT. That is a tricky one. It is really cool - and first time out, you quickly think, this is where it is at. And for many, they continue to feel that way. For me, I came to hate it after a month. Always in the wrong gear, never liked how it approached / slowed down / stop lights. But I think it is a brilliant implementation and I can see why some are so sold on it.

I never thought I would see the day when a motorcycle would be designed purposely to operate a cell phone that cemented my view LOL I already knew it, that cell phones are like toilets they're not going anywhere soon. Excellent video! Sport touring bikes are my favorite category of bikes but it seems like this segment doesn't really exist anymore or it has vastly changed. But, the bikes presented here the ones that I would check out are the Triumph Tiger, Suzuki and the motoguzzi. The Moto guzzi is the one that I really like and I am waiting on it to come out. I would like to see you do a ride and review or present that when it comes out maybe even compare it to the Triumph 900 and Suzuki that you presented in this video. I use to have a Ducati ST4 and a BMW R 1110 RS I think was the number. Those to me were sport tourers it seems like adventure bikes or something has taken over this segment. What do you think and what bikes do you like in this segment? Thanks

It appears the DCT is the coming thing. My question is a standard regular good old clutch and transmission going to always be an option for motorcycle riders and which motorcycles have lean angle sensors that's fairly new isn't it? If you convert pounds to dollars and liters to gallons you would probably pick up more subscribers just my opinion

Thanks Gary, fair comments and its always a toss up as to how much detail to include without going over the top and bombarding the viewer with facts. In my standalone bike reviews I tend to offer both metric and imperial measurements, but I don’t convert the prices as thats not a fair reflection. The bike are priced differently by market and a straightforward currency conversion wouldn’t be correct in most cases. I assume that anyone really interested in a particular bike will go away an look at the website anyway. Thanks for the subscribe, its very much appreciated.

It shouldn’t have broken down anyway. I’ve bought lots of Chinese products from HiFi bits, to machines and kitchen equipment and CCTV. They have a long way to go to rival anything made in Japan and are nowhere near the same level of safety. I’ve worked in China. Ten years I’d say for the basic products. I took out a Benelli TRK502 and it was just itching to rust as well as riding very poorly. I’d advise the public to stick to Japanese bikes and let the third world test out Chinese bikes first

@@mancavemoto I completely agree...there aren't a lot of bike for us that came from RR bikes that just want somenting to go for some trips to have fun! also agree that you went more the tradicional way on your 2021 round up.

my pick of sports tourer - a road bike with panniers(?) designed to be easier on the legs for grandad? would be the busa and a credit card. and ruck sack. So no need for panniers and ugly boxes a wallet and credit card and off we go. travel light.. or speed of light what ever gets you there. wishing everyone a seasons greetings, or merry Christmas and may the life treat you well

Living in the USA it be great to have the NT1100 come here but the dealers here not want as there is no market for it. The market is the high powered sport bikes for curves that not for long rides. I am using my AT with street type tires. And my CB500X tricked out as adventure bike. Will not ride an European bike as if parts are available they are very expensive. NT1100 market is only for Europe.

While I agree the BMW R1200RT is more of a touring than a sport-touring motorcycle, you should have included the BMW R1200RS which is without a doubt a sport-touring motorcycle and one of the best.

Looks like Honda have made the same mistake with the cruise control on the right hand side bar like the gen one KTM superduke gt. I have one of these and trying to operate it is impossible to do smoothly as you have to take your grip off the throttle, try doing that at any time especially with a pillion and you’ll see why KTM switched it to the left hand side for the gen two 😩😩😩😩

@@mancavemoto it was more about trying to press the set button at the current speed without altering that set speed by moving the throttle as you did so. Not a major biggy but it makes sense to position on the left if you can.

@@mancavemoto You can't call the RT a full dresser when there is the Goldwing, HD Ultra and the K1600. Those bikes outweigh the RT by 200 lbs.(90kg.) at least. I live on the west slope the Rocky Mountains. The RT keeps pace when the roads get twisty. Peace.
