I’m looking at doing this for my CJ8. I’m upgrading to 1 tons, will be using the Ford Dana 60 front axle which is a driver side drop. How has your experience been with the new Behemoth flip kit after a year?
I was just comparing differences with the old kit to the new one. I still have the old one in my Jeep. I’m actually pulling my case out this weekend to have a look inside-having an issue I don’t think I’d be having with the new flip kit, it’s not shifting the front output like it should. It feels like the shifter moves the appropriate distance but it doesn’t actually engage high, and when I can get it into low, it will kick it out on deceleration. So the shifter internally isn’t throwing correctly
That’s cool. My transfer case has started making a lot of noise in 4hi, but I think I’ll just rebuild the 231 with possibly a few upgraded parts and be content with that. I’d love to put in something twin stick but I just can’t justify the cost.
Yeah rebuild it with 6 pinion planetaries and a wide chain if you can! You can get one of the benefits of twin stick by leaving your hubs unlocked and using 2 low! But then you gotta hop out and lock them in whenever you actually need 4x4. Just gotta make sure you bring your brothers with you for “automatic” locking function 😝
@@DirtRoadTherapy yup I had heard of those upgrades in my research. Just need to source the parts. Also I’ll probably grab a transfer case from the junkyard to rebuild and swap in so my jeep isn’t down too long.
Wow! Great explanation of a flip kit and the apparent updates to the Behemoth product. V1 seems to be working well for you. Did you install v2 in the spoolbus?
If I remember correctly That’s the one on the tail shaft housing. I used a 1/8” NPT plug, but it’s not a tapered hole so I also used a pile of RTV to seal it, and it’s stayed dry
I was not actually swapping the old one out for the new one, I just asked them to send me the new one so I could do this comparison while I had my T case apart! The whole D300 may be for sale in the near future when I upgrade to the Behemoth Colossus 300 case!

Great explanation of the flip kit and good comparison of the new and old parts.
Glad to have you come by the shop and thanks for the shout out!
Thanks dude!
That twin stick kit is pure awesomeness !
I love it!
Very cool. I bought an NP235 mated to a Dana 300 with an Advance Adapter. It’s supposed to go into a 74 CJ5. Thanks for the inspiration!
That’s cool! You’re welcome
Thanks for sharing the info here; easy to understand!
Glad it was helpful!
Glad to see you online again Jon, followed your TDI build on the other channel, used a lot of your designs on my TDI. Great content!
Thank you! I plan to do a consolidated single video episode of the build, as soon as I have some time
Great vid! thanks for the deep dive. I'm getting a DIY strongbox from them for my Colorado
You’re welcome. That’s Awesome! Don’t forget about the dirt road therapy discount code when you order!

are you running JK axles or wheel adapters?
Just wheel adapters right now

No, V1 works great for me and I’ll be moving to one of their billet Colossus cases. I just wanted to get hands on with one of their revised products!
Great video!
Thanks Jacob! Glad you enjoyed it
What’s the low low set up?
Behemoth Drivetrain Strongbox in front of the transfer case. 2.73:1 low range multiplied by whatever range the D300 case is in
Jon how did you plug your vent after flipping your Dana 300?

@@DirtRoadTherapy thanks for the reply I was thinking the same but wasn’t sure.
You’ll never need it again, so you could always TIG weld it closed or try JB weld
Wanna sell the old flip kit? I have an LS swapped Wagoneer with a Dana 300 and it would make swapping tons way easier. Thanks

@@DirtRoadTherapy thanks! I’m the guy that commented on Facebook too… 😂
@@MissionRestomod I figured as much. I try to respond to every comment here so I did anyway
You gotta have deep pockets to justify putting one of these in a Shitbox...😂😂👍👍
🥺 it’s my 💩 📦 and I like it and my 💩 📦 likes me too 😅
I want to do a triple-stick 4-speed case so bad. This video is not helping. LoL
Buy my case when I upgrade!
@@DirtRoadTherapy I’m holding out for an Atlas for behind the LS. 🥸
Is that really a red potato for a shift knob? lmao
It’s a Russet get it right!
