I spent many happy hours listening to SA's away test matches on the national broadcaster's radio station in the Graeme Smith era, and Andrew Sampson was the stats man, always beavering away in the background digging up something interesting. Made it all the way to the BBC i say! If you see him Adam say howzit or howzat from a former avid listener from Gqeberha. Peace.

Jamie Smith does surprise me a bit, I must say. We arguably didn't win the last Ashes due to picking a WK who couldn't really keep wicket, and Foakes showed in India how good his glovework is. I get we want a strong batter who can also keep wicket, but then why not pick Durham's Ollie Robinson who's been unplayable with the bat in County this season?
Even then you got rob key talking like foakes can’t hold a bat, which is just wrong the lad has test hundreds to his name and has rescued England from some pretty deep wells. My concern by picking Smith your saying if we are 60-5 or 60-6 we will smash our way to a big total, which won’t always work. I felt Foakes should’ve kept the gloves, best keeper in Britain and has a FC average of 38 which isn’t awful. But if you want to change I agree with you. Ollie Robinson has been keeping wicket to a good level all season and has at times been brutal with bat in hand, so can’t work it out. Guess Key, Stokes and Mcullum never learned from the ashes that you need a proper keeper to win.
P.S no Foakes or Robinson in the Squad so in another big mistake I’m going to assume if Smith is injured they will make the error of throwing the Gloves to an out of form Ollie Pope. Ridiculous

Don't care much about the Robinson drop, it was always on the cards, being seen as an injury liability and not exactly an endearing character.
But now that the perennially angry Bairstow has been dropped, who will provide the drama and laughs 😉
