I would shorten the yellow pleated fabric at the top since if the cutting isn’t perfect it wouldn’t be as noticeable once you add the elastic waistband
It is so lovely to have you back.I hope your daughter starts to feel better soon. With the pleated fabric I would cut it from the waist.. The way I alter it is to measure the amount you want to be cut off and using lots of pins I mark it by pinning the pleat and the space between. Once I am sure of the length I then steam iron the pleats out above the cutting line. You then cut the excess off and the pleats will spring back. If your worried you could cover the fabric not to be cut with a cloth to ensure you don't steam the pleats out that you want left. When turning to make a waistband for the elastic I ,again, pin the pleat and space before sewing. You have bought such fab fabrics I am looking forward to seeing them made up.
Sam from Sew Lets Sparkle with Sam and Rachael from The French Seams just did a colab for the Tamarack Jacket that would be perfect for that beautiful quilted fabric.
Oh, Liz! It's so good to have heard from you again! How nice to have such a nice, long, bumper crop of fabrics and patterns! I sure hope the very best for recovery in the coming months! What a brave, strong girl! Thank you for making a video! ❤
Lovely to see you and sending a big hug to you , Ruby , Lola and hubbie( so sorry don’t know his name) it is a time of huge adjustment for you all so please don’t feel you have to post but when you do we will be delighted ❤️
Lovely to see you back on RUclips Liz! Wonderful fabric haul 😍 I hope you get plenty of time for sewing this month - would love for you to join in with Sew Fruity! Lots of your New Craft House fabrics are fruity colours so you could enter those makes too!
Great to see you back Liz. Glad to hear that Ruby is on the mend. I love that yellow pleated fabric. I would cut from the top. I could also see that as a pair of wide legged, swishy trousers - it's just fabulous x
Great to see you back! And wishing a very speedy recovery to Ruby! A very tough time for your family! As always amazing fabric and such cool patter choices xx
Wow Liz, now that was a haul, 🤗 So many makes I look forward to seeing. My heart goes out to Ruby, you and your family. I’m recovering from surgery as well and it’s really a journey, isn’t it. I pray Ruby’s recovery goes as smoothly as possible. It’s great to see you back and I look forward to your next video, whenever it works for you. 💕
Welcome back Liz..glad your daughter is on the mend. With your pleated fabric you would cut from the top (as it's going to be sewn) and leave the bottom hem as it is. It doesn't need hemmed.
Lovely selection of fabrics. For the vegan metallic leather, I would suggest lightly dusting with talcum powder before sewing. Trial a scrap first as it may make the fabric resist staying together. I used a pounce pad and just did the seam allowances as I sewed. A make up brush also works well, as does using cornflour instead of the talc. There should be no problems with removing any excess powder but do check on scraps first to be sure. Different colours and fabric may react differently to what I used. Good luck and enjoy all your projects
Sooo lovely to see you again Liz 😍 you have been missed! Good to hear about Ruby, wishing them all the best. Beautiful fabrics as always and lovely video xx
It's lovely to see you back again, and to hear that Ruby is recovering. One of my colleagues tore his Achilles and that's been a full year of recovery but he is back now playing sport. The time passes quicker than you think, especially once past those difficult early stages. Sewing and creativity are so good for one's mental health at these times. You have lots of lovely patterns and fabrics. That Ruby Star one would make a fab oversized shirt and could then be paired with lots of different garments so you'd get a lot of wear from it. As a dress, maybe that Cocowawa one with the little bows - is it the Anna dress?
For the quilted fabric I would recommend Grainline studio's Tamara's Jacket. I cut up an old quilt last week and made the jacket out of it. I just added Bias binding on the inside to cover the seams. A lovely relaxed jacket. Lovely to see you back and that Ruby's recovery is well under way. Xx
I think the three ginghams or any other fabric you have that matches would look so good as the Robert’s wood Elysia dress! Twirly with patchwork pieces and a puff sleeve
Lovely to see you again Liz, you have been missed. Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful fabrics and plans. Best wishes to Ruby on her recovery, ❤❤
Those neon gingham fabrics are gorgeous. Matchy matchy sewing club has several dresses that work well with color blocking, like the collage gather dress. Can't wait to see what you do!
Glad to see you back and to hear that your daughter is doing well! Love your fabric. The yellow pleated fabric would look so amazing as the Wild Seed Pattern Amahle. I keep meaning to make one but have not found the exact fabric I would like. Yours is beautiful!
Wow❤ so much excellent fabric. I love that you buy some with your students in mind. I have to go fabric shopping now😂 As a mom whose daughter was in the hospital, I am so happy that yours is recovering. The stress of that deserves some special, quiet sewing time. I have just made the Elodie Wrap dress. It’s a lovely pattern for flowy fabric.
So glad to hear Ruby is on the recovery road and I wish her all the best ❤ Ivy was great to see you back again with all the new fabrics and patterns. xx
Yay you're back!! So glad Tuby is on the mend. You always pick such beautiful fabrics. Your style is helping me broaden my horizons. I was always picking very floral so its nice to see something I might of passed by and see how lovely other choices are.
Hi Liz. It's great to see you back! I'm sending lots of healing energy to the whole family as Ruby continues her recovery. For your quilted fabric, you might be able to use the Helen's closet pattern for the Moss Jacket. You're going to have a beautiful tropical sunset capsule wardrobe with all the lovely pinks and yellows of your new fabrics, Antonia
Welcome back. 🫶. I was just thinking of reaching out to you as I was hoping things were going well. I hope the previous issues are now sorted and real recovery can begin. Pain management is a biggie, keep that under control and healing goes so much better. Your fabrics are a color explosion and I can’t wait to see all the makes. Looks like you have enough projects to keep yourself busy for quite awhile. Happy sewing and I wish you and your family all the best. 😊
Good to see you back, I always enjoy your videos, you are so enthusiastic about sewing. Glad your daughter is doing okay. Looking forward to seeing all your makes
Welcome back. The quilted jacket would be lovely as the Absolu jacket from Atelier Scammit, I have made several from pre quilted fabric, they are a perfect light jacket or cardigan. The rickrack style fabric would look lovely in the tammy handmade mila jumper, or a cardigan maybe the harper cardigan from Sinclair patterns
great to see you back Liz, hope Ruby continues to improve and they are back to their activities very soon, fabulous patterns and fabrics, cant wait to see what you make xx
Hi liz I was shown when wanting to shorten fabric straight is to sew a line of stitching using your guide on the machine then cut along that stitch line . You may need to do it a few times as I think the guide on the machine plate is only so long and not long enough for your 50cm . It works and gives a nice straight line xx x ps kind of like when you add guide lines for sleeves before you gather x x
I personally love Noodlehead for any bag pattern. I can’t wait to see your makes! Love the pink fabric with green scribbles and the sage striped one too!!
Would your gingham not make a lovely mariposa? I think you should use the cut edge of your pre pleated fabric for the waistband. What about using a rotary cutter? Can’t wait to see your Eleanoras! And good to see you back!
What I would say about the pleated fabric is to make sure to let it hang before you trim it as it will definitely drop. All your fabrics are gorgeous. Oh and for the quilted fabric - what about the tamarack by Grainline Studio?
My advice would be to not shorten the yellow from the bottom shorten from the top where it is going to go into your waistband. It will be very difficult to get the bottom as perfect as it is now.
My first thought when you showed the lovely red crepe fabric, was that it would make a great Rebecca Page Summer Maxi, but then I remembered that she sold her company to You Make Patterns, who only have an Etsy shop now, but it's listed there as the Emma Halter Top and Maxi Dress. It would be stunning in your fabric though.
Actually, I made a mistake. It's still called Summer Maxi Dress and has Rebecca Page's name above the image. The dress is a long way down the listings of patterns on their site and is like green. That being said though, the Emma Halter dress would be equally stunning in it.
I recently made a vest using prequilted fabric using Love Notions ClefCoat pattern. It was very fast and easy as a sleeveless option that's not in the line drawings. But turned out great. The only thing I did different on the second fleece version is I cut the width of the neck piece down ½". Or was uncomfortably high in the first version. Other than that I love the pattern. First version with a hem-band sewn on Barreto method second version just a straight hem
Shorten the pleated skirt from the top, as you put in the waistband casing 😊
Welcome back!! For the quilted fabric you could do the atelier scammit Absolu jacket!! 😊
I would shorten the yellow pleated fabric at the top since if the cutting isn’t perfect it wouldn’t be as noticeable once you add the elastic waistband
I would trim the yellow plisée fabric from the top. You are putting it into a waistband anyway and then you can keep your perfect hem edge.
So lovely to see you. Wishing Ruby all the best. Fab fabric haul and i love your dress. ❤
The pleeated fabric is beautiful.
So lovely to see and your enthusiasm for the future best wishes for your daughter's recovery 😊😊😊❤
Really enjoyed watching your latest video. So glad you are back and hope the recovery goes very well.
Welcome back Liz - great fabrics and patterns! All the best to Ruby and enjoy your birthday! 🎈 ❤ xx

Glad to see you are back! The Chalk & Notch fringe dress is a great pattern!

Great to see you back Liz. Glad to hear that Ruby is on the mend. I love that yellow pleated fabric. I would cut from the top. I could also see that as a pair of wide legged, swishy trousers - it's just fabulous x
Definitely trim from the top end for any length adjustments since it is already well hemmed. 😊
Great to see you back! And wishing a very speedy recovery to Ruby! A very tough time for your family! As always amazing fabric and such cool patter choices xx

Great to see you back, some fabulous fabric. You might need a teflon foot to sew that amazing coating fabric. X
Glad to see you back and to hear that your daughter is doing well! Love your fabric. The yellow pleated fabric would look so amazing as the Wild Seed Pattern Amahle. I keep meaning to make one but have not found the exact fabric I would like. Yours is beautiful!
Hi Liz - lovely to see you!!! Fantastic fabric and patterns.
Yikes, feel badly for Ruby. It's surprising how resilient young people are. Sending warm, healing thoughts her way. Love your fabrics. Happy sewing!

Glade your back. Praying that Ruby's recovery improves daily.
So excited to see you back.. Love all your fabric.. The yellow stripe might make a nice t shirt to wear with your pleated skirt..
I thought the same thing!

You can cut the yellow fabric at the top, fold over for the waist and keep the straight edge at the bottom.
Good to see you back, I always enjoy your videos, you are so enthusiastic about sewing. Glad your daughter is doing okay. Looking forward to seeing all your makes
Welcome back Liz you have been missed .Sending all the best for Ruby’s recovery xxx Robyn

Two patterns for quilted fabric, Helen's Closet Gilbert vest and jacket, Tamarack jacket Grainline Studio

Good to see you back, Liz. Beautiful fabrics. looking forward to your makes. Thank you for sharing.
I think I would shorten the pleated fabric from the top and leave the hem finished
I am so glad you are back and glad your daughter is on the mend
Lovely to see you back Liz 😊
I made a tamarack jacket using pre quilted fabric
I personally love Noodlehead for any bag pattern. I can’t wait to see your makes!
Love the pink fabric with green scribbles and the sage striped one too!!
Pleased to see you back ! Xx
Great to see you back - lovely fabrics and plans - take care 😊
It's wonderful to see you back Liz. Loved the video!
Would your gingham not make a lovely mariposa? I think you should use the cut edge of your pre pleated fabric for the waistband. What about using a rotary cutter? Can’t wait to see your Eleanoras! And good to see you back!
Good to see you back - lovely fabrics and ideas
Shorten the yellow pleated fabric at the waist where you put the elastic
I have just watched French seams. She has made a lovely jacket out of a quilted blanket. It is the tamarack jacket.
I made both with a zipper closure.
I would shorten the fabric from the top so that you keep the bottom edge as is.
Would it be better to lose the length on that yellow pleated fabric at the waist end rather than the hem end welcome back
Silicone presser foot
Have you made the Thea trousers? Will you do a toile?
HEY GIRL. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL~~~ if I were to take a drink for every time you said "stunning" i would be very drunk🤭. love all your plans and fabric!!!
Hi Liz, I’m after a pre quilted fabric in blue/white floral. Have you seen any anywhere? X
NO! Leave the bottom of the pleat fabric alone. Shorten from the top.
