In the ‘70’s and early ‘80’s, Peter Appleyard would come into a sporting goods store I ran with my father in Toronto (Scarborough). I was aware he was a musician, but unaware of how good he was or who he played with. Dammit……….I would have loved to chat him up, especially regarding his collaboration with Benny Goodman. I also play clarinet and on the subject of good clarinet players, Warren’s brother Allen is no slouch. He can get over a great deal of music and his upper register (altissimo) is a thing to behold. So much talent.
but what a song, Warren Vache !! An "exciting" trumpet, imaginative, driving, amazing, which makes you "peel" by the applause. Listening to it is a real pleasure for jazz lovers, an "icon" of the Great Artists of the musical firmament. The song, however, is beautiful, beautifully executed, arranged and also interpreted by all those other jazz artists who have accompanied him in this amazing "kermesse", to which my sincere congratulations go. c.castellano, Italy
Greatest swing cornet player, IMO.
Have mercy, Mr. Vache!! What great playing in every sense!!
That's my trumpet teacher!

Ya gotta know the history to build on it. I think it's likely
0:39 - 1:20 oof
Love it!
