I live in Killeen and I have slept with my door unlocked several times. I came from Houston and for me, crime rate is not a problem for me. Heat, again, I'm from the Htown area, and everywhere in Texas is hot. I will agree on jobs....just work remotely. I made 6 figures working from home.
I'm from houston and moving to temple possibly soon. The crime rate is all i know about the area and it is pushing me off. I hear nice things about the metro area but i hope temple is at least a safer option
I arrived to Killeen in 1999 because of the Army. I still live here and have no issues if I compare it to Puerto Rico. I work for BSW Hospital in Temple and my wife for KISD. We bought a Duplex (Townhouse) 2 yrs ago for extra income.
I’ve lived here since here since 2000 in several neighborhoods, and I have I’ve only had an issue with property theft on the Southside Long Branch. However my car or house has NEVER been stolen or broken into.
HIGH crime rate ??? HUH. I grew-up in Philly during the 90s,Killeen is like Smallville by comparison. I looked at the murders per year in Killeen,one yr Killeen had 8 murders one yr and they had 2 murders unsolved.In Philly during the 90s there were 50 murders per month,for me this place is very quiet.I feel safe here,unlike Philly where I had my head on a swivel.And there's a bus system that goes all around Killeen.
i have a friend that lives in killeen hes trying to convince me to move from jersey to killeen but man people keep saying that heat is wild out there ☀️ not sure if i should or not
I came from Jersey 7 years ago. People say killeen is bad, that's a joke compared to Newark lol but as for the heat yea it's hot but it's not bad at all housing is so much cheaper and way more decent than what you get in Jersy. Make the move.
You’re selling in the area and the title says “Avoid”…? How about allow me to “help” you with some things you should know about… The state of Texas is a whole problem. Crime is random. Grew up here since 1990 moving from Brooklyn, and only had a bike stolen when I lived in LB. Left Killeen for 15yrs, came back and still quiet and chill where I live. And crime is senseless and minimal. Ft CAV is def nothing like FT Hood was pre-Iraq war.(wild Wild West, high divorce and std rates) The schools have average ratings because of lazy parents. KISD is a good district w/ lots to offer. Pay attention to your kid and the school.🤷🏽♀️ Killeen has 100% jogger-ability!
That is not for all. i live here and no allergies. Crime rate???? What part??? Some like it hot you should not discourage. Now that is the truth cant get a job here.YEP killeen ids SUCKS!!! We have no issues with health care and we watch our usage for our electricity you have to do that anywhere. WHAT! I walk and see people walking everywhere. Now i agree u need a car but if not u will walk a long way and the bus system sucks as well. Still a nice place to reside. The bad thing that sticks out is the bus system they really SUCK!!

Killeens only hot from February to December. A good paying job in Killeen is home repair/AC repair... You will never have any time off.

It’s so hot in the summer lol you have to do all of your outdoor activities early morning or In the evening
