In this video, I will describe and explain the cons of living in Austin as well as some of the ways these could be pros (depending on who you are and why you're thinking about moving to Austin or Texas in general). I agree I think the people here are nice. I diversity isn’t a big deal to me as long as people are kind and respectful I don’t care what color they are 🤷🏽‍♀️

    You are correct from every angle. I lived there from 2017 - 2023 and the lack of diversity and cost of living is the absolute truth. I lived in Round Rock and when I got hired on my first job, I was the only African American of about 200 others in the building. That was a shocker for me coming from the Atlanta area to Austin. Thanks so much for the video.

    I was the one who asked you about making this video last week. Thank you so much for making it. I have literally been waiting all week for this video. I checked in the morning and in the afternoon. lol This was a great video. After watching both your pros and cons videos, I might reconsider Austin. The place doesn't seem bad, but it seems the high cost of living is really the killer. It seems you need to be making some really GOOD money to live there. Not only that, it also seems that you would have to keep making sure you get increases because I know the cost of living there has to keep rising due to all the people moving there. This leads me to the other thing you mentioned about the crowds. Crowds can be cool, but they can get played out after awhile. The long lines and packs of people for anything as simple as grocery shopping would annoy me eventually. Austin seems like a place that would wear on you after awhile and then you would want to move on like you are doing. Thanks again for making this video. I really appreciate it.

      I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and I’m happy that I could shed some light on the pros and cons of living here in Austin! I absolutely agree that it is very expensive here and the crowds are something I didn’t expect. It is a great place to start after college if you are in the media or tech field but after 2 years here, I’m definitely ready to move 😅 thanks again for watching and I appreciate you putting the fire under me to deliver! 🙌🙏🏾

    Being from Atlanta saying austin is crowded is crazy. I went to Atlanta last year and going again in July and i swear going to the coca cola museum(only 6 miles away from my hotel) took a hour! I was in Austin(georgetown to go get a car at roger Beasley) in December and driving, compared to Atlanta was sooooo much more fluid and fast paced. Nothing about Austin felt crowded compared to Atlanta and Houston.

    As someone who moved from East Texas to Austin in the past several years, I just started really learning about the history of the city and why the population is so heavily white. In the early 1900s the city was segregated, if you look at a map of Austin I35 runs directly through the city and the east side was heavily subjected to redlining, as well as other tactics used in segregation. When Austin started being looked at by companies and corporations wanting to move here to get tax breaks they of course bought up properties on the east side, inflating the market and driving people from their homes due to property taxes skyrocketing. Microsoft and Tesla are currently on the east side and Samsung is in the process of building a location in Taylor, which is north east of Austin and a darling little community that happens to house a lot of low income families. And as you would expect, these companies coming in pushed people out of their homes, forcing them to the suburbs or making them leave the city altogether. I truly hate how corporations have ruined a place that used to be a refuge for the weird black sheeps of the family to convalesce. Now we’re just another city who have become servants of capitalism 💀

    Wanted to move to Texas but the only turn off I saw was the cost of living, is San Antonio cheaper?

    • @rodneyarceneaux116
      @rodneyarceneaux116 3 месяца назад +1

      Much cheaper. Literally the same new build house is 100k less in San Antonio than in Austin. I compared the "Lincoln" build by Centex. Its 396k in Austin but 296k in San Antonio. Yeah I'm going with SA lol

    • @ant.8635
      @ant.8635 2 месяца назад

      San Antonio is cheaper by FAR but imo fun to visit but not to live. Houston would be a great middle ground between being affordable and fun to live in long term while still having quick access to Austin, San Antonio and Galveston if you want a lil fun quick get away.

    The cost of living in Austin Texas it's getting worse. And with me working a low paying job where I am just getting paid 1,000 for 2 weeks it's not cutting it. I am looking into changing careers hopefully I'll be able to make above 1,000 dollars with working in health care. And after that I will be glad to leave Austin, TX for good.

    Only one reason needed to not live in or near Austin: it is New California.
