The sense of interconnectedness described by mystics and NDE experiencers is consistent with pre-Industrial Age worldviews that sustained our ancestors and current indigenous peoples. E.g., the “web of Wryd.” Yes - cause for optimism that if more people came to embrace that perspective, we might have a chance of saving ourselves and the planet.

The main reason for pollution, droughts, and deforestation is animal agriculture. About 85% of antibiotics (which are synthetic ones that destroy good bacteria too) go to animal agriculture. It's all connected and we are slowly getting there. Unfortunately western religion uses FEAR and FEAR is counter productive to every aspect of learning and growth. It keeps one, in the same place with little to no growth. My opinion.

Life on Earth is an ebb and flow of learning and advancement. The 20th century medicine made huge strides in disease control, anesthesia and surgery. These advances were nessacarry, now we can move to the mind body connection. We must always be mindful that when advancement are made in one arena other areas will be stunted.

Don't share your optimism, 20 th century is dark age of human race by any means, despite some meager successes in science, medicine etc.. Much darker than real dark age. Spreading of "science", materialism , gread, capitalism and anglo-amerikanisation of world shall have huge negative consequences for earth and humanity in generations to came, if not disastrous. When I was attending my first class on physiological psychology in university, which was on my first semester and first year in university, the lecturer told us about his field of research which was the brain and how our thoughts, feelings etc. can be traced to brain activity, at the end of the lecture he gave us time for questions. I remember asking him something that came intuitively to me - I asked him, but how do you know that the brain is not an expression or an interface (I don't remember the exact word I used) of something else, meaning of a soul or something like that. He answered in a way that was rather dismissive and said - I don't deal with anything I can't measure. That was more than 30 years ago. I still remember it.
Yup. I think he might have also saying 'I don't deal with anything I can't wrap my brain around.' Whatever they are measuring, is only partially working.

I have heard from other NDE'rs and researchers, that it may be our mindset of beliefs, whether it's a conscious thought or deep down fear...when we pass, we literally create that experience, till they realize they have 'Free Will' to choose a hell or the path to the light. Still a lot of unknowns though. To me, that makes perfect sense!

The receiver idea is too dualistic. Better to say the brain is a reflection of consciousness. This way you can keep it more simple and without conjuring a substance consciousness with another substance material.
Yes and well said. A receiver. I believe there is a Brain consciousness and a Soul consciousness and in a NDE, both are connected and things happens. @@moesypittounikos Either the brain produces consciousness, or it merely affects it in various ways. There is no 3rd option. The brain "being a reflection of consciousness" doesn't alter the fact that the brain modifies, attenuates, our consciousness in various ways.
If we can receive data from the world around us in order for us to construct reality it is easy to also understand that we receive data that allows us to construct our 'self', our consciousness. Our brains are literally the instrument. Our consciousness is the musician that's breathes life into the instrument. This cannot happen there other way around.
These experiences seem to have almost no place in this world. Even if people come the long way around to accepting the possibility of NDE's, it is still a far greater jump to altering our actions, developing more appropriate language, and meaningful conversations that include the reality that your average NDE'r is left with. These experiences are significantly personal BECAUSE the world does not share in this shortcut to the light. Just accepting a little bit of this reality instantly turns the entire world upside down and inside out.
Might NDE's actually be recapitulations of near birth experiences? Birth canal being dark tunnel. Blinding light being lamps of delivery room. And feelings of love being Obs/Gyne staff and/or parents/siblings reception?
PS I hasten to add that I'm fully signed up to NDE's (and have already booked my own!) And remember my own Dad's death with certain uncanny experiences (ie "death bed visitors" (Fenwick).
Interesting. But the experiences outside the body and the visuals one experiences are compelling. Might have allot to do with our present lives. Anxieties, Phobias, Obsessive compulsive disorders...Good point though.
I just have a comment about one thing that was mentioned more than once about NDEs. Dr. Kelly said they were mostly a positive and transformative experience for people, but if I remember correctly, they're also not very good for marriages. The person who underwent the NDE experience comes away from the experience a different person. Even if this is a good thing personally, interpersonally this may become a problem. He or she starts to value things differently than their marriage partner, s/he becomes less materialistic, possibly less career driven, and more spiritual while their spouse remains compatible, at best, with their personality prior the experience. I don't think the benefits should be discussed without mentioning the costs to personal relationships, especially when children may be affected. If anything, I would hope this would be an incentive for others to fund research into NDEs because, of course, we would like to benefit from a positive experience so long as the experiencer is able to prevent it from ending their marriage and adversely affecting other relationships with friends & family.
Oddly enough...this morning I had a dream that I only recall a fragment of- someone telling a gentleman in my dream (a big man whom I felt I did not know, but felt an affinity for in the dream), and a rather sinister man telling this other man that his 'tests were in' - and 'just as we THOUGHT(!)...you have a FAT THALAMUS! ( I had forgotten about this dream fragment, but suddenly recalled it just now when Ed Kelly mentioned the thalamus😂) ...AND, as far as the thalamus being mentioned by Ed Kelly in this interview...idk- what was his point? I thought he mentioned writing a paper on the thalamus (?) Also, I watched an interview of Dr. Eben Alexander last night, on this channel. In the interview Dr. Alexander mentioned Ed Kelly and referenced one of his books. I searched for and reserved the book Online at my library last night. Then I have this weird dream about the thalamus! I do think the man I felt an affinity for in my dream was Ed Kelly (but have never seen him before today) - I only recall that he was a big man (not 'heavy', but a large frame), and was wearing glasses. I tuned into this interview today because Eben Alexander mentioned Kelly & his writings, in his interview.

Have you or Dr Kelly read the book, "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramahansa Yogananda? Any thoughts. Yogananda's body days after his passing remained intact without decay as most bodies do within hours. This is well documented. I just watched a lecture before watching this about remote viewing & I was wondering about what Ingo Swann saw on the Dark side of the Moon, interestingly also the song, Brain Damage & the album cover of a Pink Floyd album! Upon looking up Ingo Swann, I found the name Uri Geller & also looked him up! How very bizarre this Is! Mr. Edward Kelly has rightly recognized that the approach to Reality must be made from „the opposite end”, so from the „Beginning of all beings and things”, but the same cause seems to have blocked him from accepting wholly the notion of „spirit”, which the intellect, the earthly tool of the spiritual being, cannot comprehend, as in his correct observation that artificial intelligence will never be able to understand human speech for accurate translation, because it lacks „self-awareness”, is insensitive, devoid of life! As in any discussion between two mature people who want to discover the Truth, Mr. Jens Rohrbeck could have helped with his knowledge not only his guest, but also many in the audience, if he had not kept it to himself! The most likely mechanism for this is the transverse Hall effect, which effects the slower moving "Holes" in the analogue Glial network, as described in Robert Becker's "The Body Electric". I tend to think that Glial operating on neurons is voluntary attention, & neurons operating on Glial to be involentary attention.
Regarding mystical experiences, I'm interested in the indirect consequences of them, as if they are self-delusional, we would expect other cognitive delusions to occur, but if authentic we would expect greater cognitive functioning, greater creativity etc.

The receiver idea is too dualistic. Better to say the brain is a reflection of consciousness. This way you can keep it more simple and without conjuring a substance consciousness with another substance material.
Yes and well said. A receiver. I believe there is a Brain consciousness and a Soul consciousness and in a NDE, both are connected and things happens. We are enlightened and changed because of this experience. Maybe this should be the New Science of connecting the two, without having to have an NDE. @@moesypittounikos Either the brain produces consciousness, or it merely affects it in various ways. There is no 3rd option. The brain "being a reflection of consciousness" doesn't alter the fact that the brain modifies, attenuates, our consciousness in various ways.
If we can receive data from the world around us in order for us to construct reality it is easy to also understand that we receive data that allows us to construct our 'self', our consciousness. Our brains are literally the instrument. Our consciousness is the musician that's breathes life into the instrument. This cannot happen there other way around.
These experiences seem to have almost no place in this world. Even if people come the long way around to accepting the possibility of NDE's, it is still a far greater jump to altering our actions, developing more appropriate language, and meaningful conversations that include the reality that your average NDE'r is left with.
These experiences are significantly personal BECAUSE the world does not share in this shortcut to the light. Just accepting a little bit of this reality instantly turns the entire world upside down and inside out.

Might NDE's actually be recapitulations of near birth experiences? Birth canal being dark tunnel. Blinding light being lamps of delivery room. And feelings of love being Obs/Gyne staff and/or parents/siblings reception?
PS I hasten to add that I'm fully signed up to NDE's (and have already booked my own!) And remember my own Dad's death with certain uncanny experiences (ie "death bed visitors" (Fenwick).
Interesting. But the experiences outside the body and the visuals one experiences are compelling. Might have allot to do with our present lives. Anxieties, Phobias, Obsessive compulsive disorders...Good point though.

I just have a comment about one thing that was mentioned more than once about NDEs. Dr. Kelly said they were mostly a positive and transformative experience for people, but if I remember correctly, they're also not very good for marriages. The person who underwent the NDE experience comes away from the experience a different person. Even if this is a good thing personally, interpersonally this may become a problem. He or she starts to value things differently than their marriage partner, s/he becomes less materialistic, possibly less career driven, and more spiritual while their spouse remains compatible, at best, with their personality prior the experience. I don't think the benefits should be discussed without mentioning the costs to personal relationships, especially when children may be affected. If anything, I would hope this would be an incentive for others to fund research into NDEs because, of course, we would like to benefit from a positive experience so long as the experiencer is able to prevent it from ending their marriage and adversely affecting other relationships with friends & family.
Oddly enough...this morning I had a dream that I only recall a fragment of- someone telling a gentleman in my dream (a big man whom I felt I did not know, but felt an affinity for in the dream), and a rather sinister man telling this other man that his 'tests were in' - and 'just as we THOUGHT(!)...you have a FAT THALAMUS! ( I had forgotten about this dream fragment, but suddenly recalled it just now when Ed Kelly mentioned the thalamus😂)
...AND, as far as the thalamus being mentioned by Ed Kelly in this interview...idk- what was his point? I thought he mentioned writing a paper on the thalamus (?)
Also, I watched an interview of Dr. Eben Alexander last night, on this channel. In the interview Dr. Alexander mentioned Ed Kelly and referenced one of his books. I searched for and reserved the book Online at my library last night. Then I have this weird dream about the thalamus! I do think the man I felt an affinity for in my dream was Ed Kelly (but have never seen him before today) - I only recall that he was a big man (not 'heavy', but a large frame), and was wearing glasses.
I tuned into this interview today because Eben Alexander mentioned Kelly & his writings, in his interview.

Have you or Dr Kelly read the book, "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramahansa Yogananda? Any thoughts. Yogananda's body days after his passing remained intact without decay as most bodies do within hours. This is well documented. He also passed away consciously infront of hundreds of attendees at a talk by him including the governor of CA, and the Ambassador of India to the U.S.A.
I just watched a lecture before watching this about remote viewing & I was wondering about what Ingo Swann saw on the Dark side of the Moon, interestingly also the song, Brain Damage & the album cover of a Pink Floyd album! Upon looking up Ingo Swann, I found the name Uri Geller & also looked him up! How very bizarre this Is! There is a lot of information, good to know, about the state of human knowledge today. Mr. Edward Kelly has rightly recognized that the approach to Reality must be made from „the opposite end”, so from the „Beginning of all beings and things”, but the same cause seems to have blocked him from accepting wholly the notion of „spirit”, which the intellect, the earthly tool of the spiritual being, cannot comprehend, as in his correct observation that artificial intelligence will never be able to understand human speech for accurate translation, because it lacks „self-awareness”, is insensitive, devoid of life!
As in any discussion between two mature people who want to discover the Truth, Mr. Jens Rohrbeck could have helped with his knowledge not only his guest, but also many in the audience, if he had not kept it to himself!
