Dude! I am so impressed with the quality of your videos! They get better every time. I really liked how you showed the whole process of replacing the struts. Can't wait to see it with the new wheels!
I think it's worth mentioning for those who maybe don't have much knowledge of suspension, NEVER EVER EVER EVER touch the middle bolt while removing the top part of the strut under the hood. there's a reason they call them widow makers. great vid 👌
You can also just switch the top strut mounts on the rear struts. Use the Impreza strut mounts that match the body with the Forester strut/spring. No drilling required, but you do need to compress the springs.
Great video but even tho you feel the alignment is right you won’t know for sure until you end up with bald tires. You should always get your alignment checked after suspension work.
I found one exactly like this, serviced, pretty cheap, I'm saving up currently.I really want a Subaru :) It had rust fixed, but in turn the paint was removed, the car is bare.I want to have it painted blue, with the wheels of course painted gold for that authentic Subaru color scheme :D
Just got me the same one but is a 95 with only 64000 miles in great condition like yours paint and the inside is also in great condition I want to make it look like yours great job man thanks for sharing

Subbed! #301 and I'm looking forward to learning a bunch from watching you do this. I've got a Forester, and am jealous that your garage looks like it's got more floorspace than my house ha
Thanks for the video; it is well done. I have a Forester 2002 with 200000 miles in it, and in need of the same things. I might suggest to use anti seize in those bolts... for the future!.
Bro, so glad to see you got the wagon back!!! Where did you get the rain guards?????? I'm building/ "restoring" a 97 OBS currently, as soon as I get it back from my mechanic I'll post a video of it. Having the timing/ oil puking problem fixed right now, don't have a garage so I can only do limited work myself.
Looking at doing this to my 2.0l S same body, don’t want more than a 2.0 /2.5 lift as don’t want the CV angle to be under stress in off road, issue with sanding and shock stroke on full compression, would have been sweet to get a look at that CV angle before and afterwards, but because it’s Suby for Suby mid change guessing it stays that same, which is about right for anything under 3.0” lift right?, agree with others really well don’t vid mate, cheers 🤙 Just a tip for growing your channel and attracting sponsors, link where ya get your parts from to help us guys and girls out, just saves allot of guess work and helps if comparing, cheers again.🤟
So there are extended sway bar mounts needed, or do you grab those from the Forester as well? I have a 2002 outback I am wanting to stuff forester struts in, or even better yet, get the KYB struts and king springs in install that.

Hey Alex, Thanks for reaching out. I actually made a video about reconnecting the sway bars already. You should be able to find it. I think it's episode 7? Can't remember off the top of my head. You will need to use extended sway bar end links to run the sway bars again. But if you are in a pinch, you can still drive the car without sway bars with it being lifted. Just be easy when taking corners and drive at your own risk. As for the struts, those came off of a 2004 Subaru Forester. That will give you desired lift that you are looking for. 03-08 struts will fit your car (which is a GD chassis). If you have any other questions, I'd really suggest joining the Bugeye Impreza Facebook group and those folks can help you out as well. Best of luck on your build! -Z
Sweet video! Did you ever reconnect the sway bar links? I just lifted the front of my 07, now I've gotta try to find end links that are gonna fit. Any suggestions?
They do wear the front axles a little quicker. I’ve had the car for 4 years and had to replace the front cv’s once. But I have other cars so this isn’t being driven constantly.
Hey bro! Thanks so much for the rad video!! I have the exact same impreza (mine is an 01) so it was fun to watch. Like it was my own car! I had a question: lots of people are saying you need trailing arms or at least TA-spacers to make it fit... It doesn't seem like you did? Did you need to extend anything to make it work?
So I finally got the struts and I’m about to put them on with the arm spacers for the rear. Do i need any arm spacers in the front so that the wheel won’t move ? Or is it just the rear wheel that moves? Thanks for helping out

That's a valid concern to have. Another way to do this is swap the top hats from the Impreza struts and use them on the Forester struts. You will need spring compressors to get the top hats but it means you wouldn't have to file down the rear of the chassis. But as long as you measure correctly, you shouldn't have any sort of issues. You need a large light bar on the roof , that will set it off just right .

97 Impreza with struts off a 2004 Forester.

It helps when doing the lift. You will need extended end links to run the sway bars again
Nice reviews
Just curious how much was this car after all the Copart fees and stuff
Bendaga's Garage wow that’s still incredible, thanks for the reply
Awesome. I want to lift my 2009 Impreza 2.5i. Would 2009 Forester struts fit the Impreza?
Good question. I’m not sure about anything past the GD series chassis but I’m sure you could find info online. Wish I knew, sorry man.
The filing of the rear strut point worries me if you did it off wouldn’t that make it uneven at the rear
That's a valid concern to have. Another way to do this is swap the top hats from the Impreza struts and use them on the Forester struts. You will need spring compressors to get the top hats but it means you wouldn't have to file down the rear of the chassis.

Do you still have the wagon?
That Subaru looks brand new you should see the Subaru’s from Michigan
Guess we are pretty spoiled out here 🤷🏽♂️
Is there any down side to just throwing forester struts in there?
If you plan to run larger tires, you will run into clearance issues in the rear without trailing arm spacers.
I have an 02 Impreza OBS, do you know what year forester struts would fit on it? 03-08? and is it as simple as changing the rear top hats only?
98-08 should work. But 03-08 forester struts will be slightly taller.
Great job
Thank you
Would forester struts also give the car more suspension travel?
Yes. The strut assembly is larger so you will have a little more travel, in comparison to something like lift spacers.
you still have the Subi ? mine has same oil leaks would a leak blocker oil additive work at all ?
I wouldn’t advise doing that. Better to find the source if the leak and then go from there.
If I put a half inch saggy butt spacer on the rear forester strut, will I need to get anything else besides the trailing arm spacer?
It all depends on what tire size you plan to run. You should be fine though.
