Hey Bud, I really enjoyed your long video, lol. I feel your pain with escorts, I have enjoyed the same joys with them. I am pleased that you were understanding and cooperative with her as everyone starts somewhere. Like you I did 23 oversize loads last summer to Alaska I like to say I sure trained some good ones. Too bad they were not trained for me. After the first 10 trips up I decided to train my daughters and use them as escorts. Was both financially rewarding and a whole lotta fun.
Cheers and keep up the good work,
    Capital Jay from Yukon

I love seeing someone like you that will take a step back and realize that the problem with your escort was her training. Helping her learn and not making her feel stupid makes you a great man. I don't know either of you. But, what I seen makes me know you're the kind of guy I'd like to call a friend. Great job brother.

I drive super loads grossing between 140K and 200K. I am always wide and tall. The front door is the most important aspect of driving those loads. Your patience is a virtue. Most states the escort is overall responsible for the safety of the load, doing it right is key. Drive hard brother. Love the vids. Truck looks great.

I really like the way you did this show. Showing the whole week trip in 1 episode.
Safety safety safety. I think it's great to show the truckers and the general public how heavy hauling truckers think about everyone's safety.
    Great show....

What aggravates me is we have this wonderful interstate system that seems to me would be the perfect place for oversized loads. (Wide lanes, large shoulders, multiple lanes in each direction,no power lines and tall overpasses. Making it quite safe.) But no they make you drive two lane narrow twisty back roads. Absolutely madness, all because they “can” ! Enjoy your videos man! Thanks

love the attitude of helping and training people in the right thing to do. This just shows that if the person is willing to be trained than they will listen and learn. Credit to your pilot to for taking on board what you have been showing her. Look how much she developed in one day. Great work.. watching from Australia

She should be fired or know this beforehand there is no excuse on something this big to not know. They make plenty of money. Just because she is a woman she gets a free pass.

Thank you for your videos! And I so very much appreciate that you film the entire trip....doesn't matter to me if it's 20 minutes, 30 minutes or a full hour. I find them interesting, I learn a lot (and I'm just a grandmother...so I really don't "need" the info, but hey - I love driving, thus, the more info I have, the better I am at staying out of ya'lls way, and if I see a way I can help, I do), and I love the scenery of the roads. I understand the frustration you felt with a poorly-trained escort, but I can also appreciate their frustration at having paid for an education that was not complete. You did well to teach and improve, rather than replacing her. Good for you! Thankful for your safe delivery, keep up the god work, and thank you for sharing!

The trooper pulled me over and said it was sunset and I told him it was still enough sun to get out of the state he said he did not care that the weatherman said it was sunset. I've pulled loads of cables for Prysmian Group which I delivered to their facility in Brockville, Ontario, Canada. But I did it in a regular 53ft trailer so I didn't have to worry about oversize issues, tarping, escorts or anything else like that. I tried the six axle covered wagons for about a year, pulling slabs and coils of steel but i found that wasn't for me. Too much waiting time is what ruined it for me. So I went back to reefers and dry vans and I've been a regular freight hauler for a very long time now, but I do enjoy watching videos of the 'real' truckers pulling all those oversize, overlength, overheight and overwidth and overweight permit loads. Thanks for all your great videos.

I've sure noticed the lack of training in pilot cars aswell! I run pilot car in B.C, Canada, and I see a lot of people who just get thrown in a truck or come over from other provinces & try to do the job out here. There is a whole lot more than people seem to think & quite a few times I've grabbed the radio to "kindly" remind them about how to do their job. The boss at my company is very, very picky about how we do our jobs & it shows, constantly I have guys talk about the not so experienced, tardy, etc. pilots they have & how much they love when we're on their list for the day, because they know it's getting done Right.

See that's one of the reasons I watch you you've been doing it for a while you're an awesome teacher from what I can see you help your fellow truckers you help the people with the pole and it's just nice to have a driver that understands some people are going to tell you the truth and say hey I don't know how to do the job it was just good money and I wanted to learn it's good that you teach them the right way because who knows you may get them again and you can teach him a little bit more or maybe they can teach you something that's why I watch you is because you are an awesome person and if I was doing it and I didn't know something you would be the first one I would ask you're awesome thank you Chad

as for pilot services, yes a person has to start somewhere, but by day 2 you should have all the kinks worked out. it can't be that difficult to run pole-car, step 1 measure accurately. step 2 know the planned route for the day ( planned because situations change like not making it as far as intended ). step 3 if the pole taps or an accident ahead notify. step 4 have a back-up communication plan.
oh and have the semi driver want to call you when they have a load in the area or spread the word so there are request for you to do more runs.
as for GPS a person can set custom routes if they have the correct system ( pilot service companies should have them in all vehicles in my opinion )

I can probably put that together! I have a buddy that runs escort and he is pretty good at his job but he’s only one person and me and a bunch of people are always calling him! But if he’s available I will get a video showing how he communicates everything because he does a great job!

I agree with the pilot car say i do a lot of heavy hauling being wide tall heavy and long but the company my company normally gets me the ones I request and will only give me there best if they aren't available. Doing this types of load you need to work as a team and as one

You have what it takes to start your side business which sounds like a fantastic plan.
Seems like you would be a great teacher for your own business.

That’s a good way to check the height. Having the pole vehicle double check against the load makes measuring fool proof. I work as a grade foreman for an excavation company and can say first hand “numbers can get messed up easily” lol
