About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

David Bowie was one of the coolest people ever to walk this Earth... He was a scholar and gentleman and and amazing in every way
Oh the irony. Top 10 one of the best humans ever, not even human.
I can confirm that my fellow Alien brother is not human like me
Very well put and I couldn't agree with you more!
He was a true life artist. So much more than a performer.
Quite a character. Seemed a bit tormented though.
I personally met David Bowie last year (2023) in a dream I had. He shook my hand twice, while I told him of all the respect I had felt for him since I was a child. I saw him smile and even bow his head in gratitude. A year earlier I had prayed to the Lord for him.

Years ago, when he was still alive, I had a dream about him also. Him and my mom were dating and I was casually hanging out with him while out running errands. Strange dream, made me laugh, but it was cool at the same time.

I remember hearing this song on the radio. I was thinking: "Wow, that new Bowie is really sounding like Pet Shop Boys!" And then Neil's voice comes in. I still get goosebumps when I hear it.

The Pet Shop Boys loved this song on the album and asked Bowie to do the single and the video version together.
I wasn't born yet at that time but yeah first time i heard it i thought the same, Vocally and lyrics you can hear it's a Bowie song but the melody is so Pet Shop Boys in the 80's era

It is said from the ones connected & closest to him that a psychic back in the 60's or 70's told Bowie the day he was going to die. Makes sense when you consider the date of the release of Blackstar was the day after his death. I really like the Major Tom twist of words coming on strong with The Pet Shop Boys in the 2nd verse. I don't think that Bowie ever created anything by happenstance. He was one of the greatest minds & planners & the most straight up down to earth person you could ever meet.
He's still with us!
I remember the day he passed, VH1 classic played non-stopped DB music. What an honor to live and walk on same planet with him

Another great song from a magnificent album. Space video. Fantastic Pet Shop Boys. ✨🚀✨
Love the additional verse introduced on lyric by Pet Shop Boys, using fragments from Bowie's song "Space Oddity".
"Ground to Major, bye bye Tom
(This chaos is killing me)
Dead the circuit, countdown's wrong
(This chaos is killing me)
Planet Earth, is control on?"
Rumor is that Bowie was very uncomfortable with that, and a lot of other aspects of this song, at least until he heard the produced/mixed version.

Pet Shop Boys go back to the mid 80s, and Bowie released Space Oddity in 1969!
Both created a lot of great stuff after the 90s too. In fact, Pet Shop Boys are still writing, recording, and performing.
Гениальный дуэт, гениальнейшая тема! Впервые услышал её случайно по ТВ в середине 90, пацаном ещё был, и до сих пор мурашки по коже.
На все времена!
He shared his birthday with Elvis Presley.
However, David is for me the greatest of the two. He was a universal artist.
This was my childhood, had it on cd and introduced me to Bowie and the pet shop boys
Yes, indeed. David Bowie still lives on and continues to entertain and inspire us 🙏through his music and his art. He lived for his art. Thank you!
David your music truly lives on !
Embedded in our DNA
Stardust in side our hearts 💕
King David and the Pet Shop Boys singing together "do you like girls or boys? It's confusing these days" makes me wanna scream. In a super good way.
Bowie was enthralled with freddie mercury and vive versa. If I'm not mistaken, they had an affair. I think bowie was morphing all the time and most likely pansexual. He defined his own life which is why I loved and respected him so much. AND we shared a birthday. Big deal right?
@@margochristensen7440 to be fair, Bowie was in literally everyone's pants.
@@MarceloKatayama so what? Most rock musicians did. He had looks, charisma, charm and attraction. I dont know of many men in that position who didn't do the same. @@margochristensen7440 No need to get upset. @@danielwood4808 Whatever people say about David's music being okay, thinking he's only made few good songs and few good albums they can go to hell lol.
I really don't like 'old' music, I never got to like Beatles (i did listen to all of their albums) but David's music is something else entirely.
There are some songs of his that feel like the decade they were written in but most of his songs are contemporary. I loved everything he has made. He was a really great musician and an even better performer.
@@zajkoo For a couple of decades now I’ve been saying that Bowie was/is THE most important Musician in Contemporary Music - and I’m a massive Prince fan since the early 80’s first and foremost, so that’s really not something I say lightly! His influence and reach across music, fashion, video, art and so many other genres is unparalleled.
Of course, this is not to belittle or demean other artists/acts like Prince, Elvis, the Beatles etc - but as impactful and incredible as they all were in their own way thru their own contributions, none of them (I feel) match Bowie for his impact on the cultural zeitgeist.
Have always loved this song, one of my favourites. Love PSB too. And those shoes😍
That lyric “Do you like Boys or Girls?” Is THE moment when I knew it was time to come out. Thank you David and Pet Shop Boys! And…. I saw this video for the first time in a gay bar back in 1999(At the old Revolver club in Weho)

Your comment regarding the collaboration of Bowie and The Pet Shop Boys brought back memories of how many artists over his career that he collaborated with. So Diversified in nature setting the tone for how varied and versatile David Bowie was. I remember when I was a kid seeing him and Bing Crosby on TV performing Little Drummer /Peace on Earth together. It was pretty cool and pleasantly surprising.
@@chazvalvo2840
Bing's & Bowie's "Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth" is my absolute favorite version of that song.
It took indeed everybody by surprise.
It introduced young 'uns to the charm of an old crooner, and parents who up till then had been a tad scandalized by this weird androgynous artist, were astounded by a handsome well-spoken young man with a beautiful singing voice... and we all were and are delighted by how wonderful they sound together.
And it was done without hardly any preparations at all.
A Christmas masterpiece.

Love this song since it's release! Two of my favorite artists!
Certainly are ... David is so inspiring and Bowie fans so kind ... I'm glad to connect with him on my YT Channel ... its a real privilege to perform his songs.
Damn, 90’s Bowie was underrated as f*ck... every internet biography, competent or not, is like ”the last ’great record’ he made was the 1980 Scary Monsters... aanyway, he died in 2016 after releasing Blackstar and went out with a bang like a star he was...” I mean, feels like everyone skips the 90’s when talking about Bowie’s career. Yeah, he didn’t make hits that blew up the world like back in the 70’s, but despite that, he made so much good music that could be played in any nightclub today. He didn’t need to make hits, but instead he renewed his interest in innovating and experimenting with sounds, particularly in the field of electronic music. Say what you will, but I think Bowie’s music from the 90’s beats almost every edm-track that’s released today. There, I said it, and it’s only my opinion. But hey, everyone’s got one, eh?
RIP the Master of reinvention. Nice that we can atleast have remastered music videos and interviews from the past to enjoy this, arguebly more sad, Bowie-less present
I think Bowie's 90s music wasn't defined for being good for play on nightclubs. It was more so defined by being an anthology of an artistically prolific period. The 90s for Bowie were great artistically. I mean, outside? Only he and Eno would have the balls of releasing such a weird record, with such a weird background story and even weirder recording sessions. Black Tie White Noise was also an artistically valued record and a complete experiment dealing with another genre. The same could be said about Tin Machine and Earthling. Hours was also pretty great, even though people say it's boring, it's general melancholic and introspective tone makes it a lot more appealing that one first listen might suggest. So, yeah. I do think the 90s were great and sadly get misrepresented because it isn't as much of a mess as the 80s or because it didn't have the same sales and reach as the golden age Bowie. The same could be said about his 2000s records, which, in my opinion, are all better than even a lot of the stuff he released back on the 70s. The 2000s were just so good, but I digress.
It gets ridiculous how Bowie's early albums, good as they are, get deified while his later material is ignored. "Scary Monsters" is more like his FIRST great cohesive album, in my opinion, with Let's Dance, Heathen, Black Tie White Noise, Outside, Reality, Blackstar and many others still to come.
@@waterspout8 The Next day is also great
I've been a fan for many years. His music, all of it is fan tactic. As we age our out look on life changes and what ment one thing 10 yrs ago can change 10 yrs later. For instance at 17 I loved metal. At 60 I like metal but not with the anger. Bowies music has always fascinated me in how it brings out so much emotion. In 76 I sat in total awe at the Station to Station Concert. And been to 4 more Bowie concerts over the years. FASCINATION! MISS MY FRIEND DEARLY. TIME TO REST MY FRIEND

As a huge Bowie fan I had the most amazing experience to this. It was at Roseland Ballroom NYC 1996 around 8am.
