  • Montgomery Mall is a struggling, now dying mall in the outer reaches of the Philly metropolitan region. While not in the worst shape, occupancy continues to slide, and shows no signs of slowing down.

I didn't realize Kohan had such a bad track record. But I can't give up on this place. I love it. But it's going to need a Hail Mary at this point.

Here’s my rant, when RUclipsrs call a mall “abandoned” when ITS CLEARLY OPEN!!!!!!!! THAT DOESN’T WORK!!!! And we will never have another Rolling Acres, Rolling Acres can’t be “manufactured”. Century III, Lincoln Mall, and Northridge Mall all came close but it’s not the same at all.
I also agree with you about the Wegmans store. A mall near where I used to live in Utah, called “Provo Towne Centre” just replaced an outgoing Dillards (they moved to a new location at a different mall in the area) with a Target. Target has chosen not to utilize the old Dillards mall entrances, it does nothing to help improve mall traffic regardless of the fact that it’s in an anchor building. Much like when self storage places setup shop in old anchor stores.

I work for Wegmans and our first store in a mall was our Midtown Plaza store, which opened in that mall in Rochester, NY in the mid-60s. It was a rather small store and my boss worked there for about a few weeks shortly before the store closed in 1995. And yes, I do remember from my childhood in the 80s that the store had access to the mall. We had another mall store in Natick, MA that had full mall access, but it closed in July 2023 due to less than satisfactory performance.

I used to come here monthly with my grandmother. This was her favorite mall despite the far ride from Philadelphia. It used to be so busy. I haven’t been in about 10 years or maybe 15? Sad to see the state it’s in.

Montgomeryville used to be really nice.
A big mall, a multiplex, restaurants.
    Very safe.
    Now, it is very dangerous.
The criminals from Philly take Septa to Montgomeryville and victimize everyone they can.
I remember when it was all farmland before they built 150,000 houses
    😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
    I miss my old Pennsylvania

I used to visit this mall all the time when I was in High School. Even though I drive by it all the time, I haven’t been in it for years, but it’s kind of sad to see it in this state.

I was naive and never thought malls would close. I just thought people need to shop so malls wouldn’t be going anywhere. It wasn’t until 2020 when I realized malls were dying, closed, or had been demolished. It’s easier to shop at stores with everything like Walmart or buying things online. It used to be whatever was at the store, you bought that because the only option was the brick and mortar was available. Now you can get anything online.

OMG you're right about the coverage of PA malls also Ohio and Maryland too. I'm surprised by the lack of coverage of areas like Texas and Arizona. Can't wait to see more of your visit to Michigan specifically my childhood mall of Fairlane.

Good callout on so many malls through the PA area getting filmed over and over and over.
Also, I’m personally getting tired of some of the new third wave dead mall channels filming the same malls repeating the same things that have already been called out by the original and second wave dead mallers…and acting acting like this info wasn’t repeated 100x before.
I’m always saying everyone (including the new third wavers) should keep filming, but I will also add there should be some minor spark of imagination or personal viewpoint and original(ish) opinions offered.

    • @charlestonpinballarcade
      @charlestonpinballarcade 5 месяцев назад +2

@@chm9935 yup! I give a lot of credit to Doomie and some of the OG dead mallers that have done it for years and set the path. I would definitely appreciate if some of the new third wave dead mallers would give some credit in random videos to these original folks. There’s so many channels that are just copies, same music, same flow, same information… Unfortunately, Doomie lets some of the viewers bother him way too much and I fear burn out. But… maybe he’s just playing all of us for some drama views.
      🤣🤣🤣

That would be a hilarious video to watch and listen to if you made a video drunk and without a script. I think I would not be able to stop laughing since I laugh at a lot of ridiculous things. You never fail to make good final comments on your videos.

    • @charlestonpinballarcade

I agree with all of that! It would be great… I just fear the computer, microphone, desk and many things in the room might not be in one piece after the voiceover is recorded.

I remember so much about this Mall in the past 2 Decades. I take Septa Route 96 Bus the most to get there. Septa Routes 94 and 132 also start and end at Montgomery Mall. Route 96: Norristown Transportation Center to Lansdale Septa Train Station Via Montgomery Mall. Route 94: Montgomery Mall to Chestnut Hill. Route 132: Montgomery Mall to Telford. A while back Route 134 ran but only a couple of times Daily between Montgomery Mall and Chestnut Hill but a different way than 94 goes until Basically the final stretch through Fort Washington to Flourtown and into Chestnut Hill. Outside the Former Sears on the Lower Level is where The Bus Stop is at for all 3 active bus routes. And for those who Drive, It Intersects U.S. 202 and PA 309 in the NW corner of the Mall. Wegman's is where Boscov's used to be. This Mall has the only Smokey Bones I can get to. So I do make a trip to eat there at times. Nearby Willow Grove Park Mall and Plymouth Meeting Mall also still have a lot more stores than Montgomery Mall but Plymouth Meeting Mall seems to have less Foot traffic I noticed Than Nearby Willow Grove Park Mall. Dave & Busters is likely one of those keeping Plymouth Meeting Mall going. And of course as you Mentioned, King of Prussia Mall Remains as a healthy mall and of course is the Biggest in Pennsylvania.

1st. Looks like a lot of vacancies in there. Kohan isn't known for owning thriving malls. I noticed last weekend that there are some vacancies are popping up in Carolina Place Mall in Pineville.
