Imma be real, the 25 and the 31 are the only two modern MiGs worth a damn. They are some of the very few military aircraft built by the USSR in its mid-latter years that were built with very specific and realistic goals in mind, and fulfilled them admirably. The MiG-25 was the USSR's 'roided out take on the ultra-fast, mass-produced, and cheap enough to be functionally disposable "local interceptor" concept. It's what the F-104 wishes it could have been, and, had Kennedy and North American not bungled the Valkyrie program into cancelation, the Foxbat would have been a very pertinent and competent aircraft. Even still, the MiG-25R (Foxbat-B and Foxbat-D) family was very effective, all things considered, and it was a fairly decent answer to the SR-71 Blackbird. In fact, looking at the sticker price, raw materials needed, and maintenance costs side-by-side, it becomes pretty damn impressive that a stainless steel Soviet bathtub was able to even come close to the (admittedly far sexier-looking) titanium UFO we produced. As for the Foxhound (MiG-31), it's probably the better comparison to our Eagle. Still optimized for top speed rather than pretty much anything else, but it's quite competent for a long-range interceptor, and I seem to recall that it is also apparently quite good at Wild Weasel missions. Such a shame that the cretins in mother Russia are wasting such a competent and useful bird on ASM-truck duties, especially considering that the Kinzhal (which, BTW, is not pronounced "kin-zahl"; the "zh" makes the same sound as a French "j", and the English-speaking media's pronunciation makes my native-Russian-speaker ears bleed a bit) is a unimpressive missile, at best, by every single possible metric. Note that I am not a Z-tard vatnik. I support Ukraine fully in this war. But I think it is both disingenuous and self-sabotaging to dismiss all ex-Soviet and Russian tech as fundamentally incompetent and useless. Yes there are far more examples of useless, overhyped systems like the Yak-38 and the Kinzhal than there are those like the MiG-31, but competency is not yet absent from the Russian roster (though it is rare and getting scarcer by the day).

The longer you work for the government, you more you realize you *really* shouldn't be working for the government, but you gotta eat so...
He's been around long enough to see some stuff. Consider the person of average intellect, and recognize that government jobs have a lower selection pressure and higher paycheck than normal jobs. So yes, Government winds up chock-a-block with career midwits with the ability to influence others' lives and liberties who are practically untouchable unless they make really catastrophic mistakes.

To be fair, Lazerpig has a video where he and a friend eat a Russian MRE they recovered during their recent Ukraine trip. That's a Meal, Rejected by Everyone. Although apparently the bacon was palatable after they finally found the chunks of meat in all the fat, and the crackers didn't make them ill.

Imma be real, the 25 and the 31 are the only two modern MiGs worth a damn. They are some of the very few military aircraft built by the USSR in its mid-latter years that were built with very specific and realistic goals in mind, and fulfilled them admirably.
The MiG-25 was the USSR's 'roided out take on the ultra-fast, mass-produced, and cheap enough to be functionally disposable "local interceptor" concept. It's what the F-104 wishes it could have been, and, had Kennedy and North American not bungled the Valkyrie program into cancelation, the Foxbat would have been a very pertinent and competent aircraft. Even still, the MiG-25R (Foxbat-B and Foxbat-D) family was very effective, all things considered, and it was a fairly decent answer to the SR-71 Blackbird. In fact, looking at the sticker price, raw materials needed, and maintenance costs side-by-side, it becomes pretty damn impressive that a stainless steel Soviet bathtub was able to even come close to the (admittedly far sexier-looking) titanium UFO we produced.
As for the Foxhound (MiG-31), it's probably the better comparison to our Eagle. Still optimized for top speed rather than pretty much anything else, but it's quite competent for a long-range interceptor, and I seem to recall that it is also apparently quite good at Wild Weasel missions. Such a shame that the cretins in mother Russia are wasting such a competent and useful bird on ASM-truck duties, especially considering that the Kinzhal (which, BTW, is not pronounced "kin-zahl"; the "zh" makes the same sound as a French "j", and the English-speaking media's pronunciation makes my native-Russian-speaker ears bleed a bit) is a unimpressive missile, at best, by every single possible metric.
Note that I am not a Z-tard vatnik. I support Ukraine fully in this war. But I think it is both disingenuous and self-sabotaging to dismiss all ex-Soviet and Russian tech as fundamentally incompetent and useless. Yes there are far more examples of useless, overhyped systems like the Yak-38 and the Kinzhal than there are those like the MiG-31, but competency is not yet absent from the Russian roster (though it is rare and getting scarcer by the day).
