Yes, that is my preference. If I am well enough soon, I will probably do this again in real time.

You know, you could use the bool tool add-on to make those boolean operations easier. Instead of going to the modify tab to use boolean the add-on allows you to simple "ctrl +" or "ctrl -" to add or subtract meshes. Great tutorials nonetheless !
