What a great, smooth singer he was alongside being a magnificent harp player! I love this song, the arrangement, the fact that the harmonica is part of a horn section and is the equal of a baritone and tenor saxophone. 😊😎❤️👑🙌
My friend just lost his uncle Lywood Slim talented blues man from California he was very close to him, I would have to say that he looked up to his uncle in many ways and is a much better person for that. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the family members who have lost this wonderful and talented musician. Peace be with you all. from Austin,Texas
What a cool dood!!! Met him on a plane around 2009 or 2010 either from Navegantes to Sao Paulo or Sao Paulo to Rio. He sat across the isle from me and we talked just about the entire time. He had some Brazilian band members with him. When he wanted to make a point about something he would hit me in my upper arm. As the plane landed, he had made an impression on me other than just my arm was sore.
Hahaha! Yes, always hit you on your arm with his lil giggle as his mouth opened on the left side! I miss him, he was the real deal with so many stories and life experiences.
@@artmak818 He was excited when he heard me and my coworker speaking English across the aisle from him. When he told me that he played the harmonica in a jazz band I emphatically told him that I didn’t think a jazz band was a jazz band without a harmonica. I think at that point he realized that he found a kindred spirit. It was the first instrument I learned to play and I had been listening to a Mexican blues band called El Tri. I told him the harmonica player would send shivers up your spine. Didn’t realize until watching RUclips videos later that he was just as good.
@@artmak818 Yes, thanks for sharing that. What an incredible guy! He wanted me to come see him play in California but I never got the chance. He said Chuck Conners used to come watch his shows.
what a superb band....swing blues at it's best....looks like two of these great men have passed, RIP.....superlatives aren't enough...thank you for your music, Larry Taylor's swing, wow....what a player...the real deal here.
Written by Henry Glover and recorded by Eddie Cleanhead Vinson in 1952. A few years later it was a recorded by Johnny Burnett rockabilly style. Slim's version is the best by far. 16 bars with a 16 bar bridge.
In very loving memory of Mr. Richard Dennis Duran (1953 - 2014 R.I.P. Gone but NOT forgotten).

...LOVE LYNWOOD...he used to hang at my shop in LaHabra. We'd call him "PLYWOOD" .....at his insistence......
