Pinetop. Love Pinetop's piano. Lucky to catch him (with Bob Margolin) at Jazz Alley years ago. Such a talent. I caught Kid Ramos much earlier with James Harmon. This is such a great band on tap here. Talent at everywhere. RIP all these greats. Glad Kid Ramos is still walking among us blues lovers.
Pine was supurb and amazing til the last breath he took-here i am almost 63(8/10/19)- and Pine was what- 93 and didnt miss a note-never saw him wince from hitting a key wrong,,,,,and ii can barely peel a carrot on a good day-musta been somethin in that blues juice he had that kept his fingers ticklin them ivorys til the end. what a pleasure and what a loss...and Icepick...cant say nuthin bad bout him..or Ramos or.......that West Coast blues travels nicely to us East Coasters sweetly
I saw him in Helena, Ark in 1991 along with Albert King at the Sonny Boy Blues Festival. Both of them were at the top of their game then. Pinetop called down the sound man for messing with the sound board during his first song, about 4 years later I was working a show and the sound man told me he always did the sound for that festival, I told him if he would leave the sound along Pinetop could play, the sound man said he was ready to crawl in a hole that day, being called down by one of the legends of the blues for messing up the mix. We had a great laugh about it, Mr. Perkins did not like the sound man messing with the mix when he was playing, he knew what he wanted and he should he had been doing it forever. What a great memory, what a great performer.
RIP Pinetop
RIP Linwood
RIP Richard
RIP Larry
Thanks for all the great music

Too many of these talented fellows are no longer with us, but their music lives on!
