Of course this isn't an ordinary tote bag. It is a PERFECT tote bag--one that a leatherworker would be proud to have made. Thanks again for your excellent tutelage.
Great looking bag! When I make mine, I stitch the pockets, closing snaps and handles before I stitch the sides of the bag. It makes life a lot easier than trying to stitch when the bag’s been made. I also use the rivets for the handles to fasten the pocket(s) inside. Saves time and rivets and makes the pocket fastening invisible.
OLD LEATHER SMITH here, Excellent Job as always Suggestions, since I hand stitch everything like you do, when I have a large flap that gets in my way I have found a way around that problem, I bought 1 long piece of 3x3x8ft and made a L shape stand with a leg on the bottom that I could anchor 2, 1 of my benches, this way I could move it at my convenience, I just hang a string with a clip attached 2 hold the flap out of the way, since I make moccasins I have learned how 2 turn them easier, I originally used a broom handle, but found a closet clothes rod stouter, I round one side of sand smooth, place at the floor near a wall I did rubber band leather on the other end so as not 2 slide around, both work great, Great Video thanks again, GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
OMG, you hand-stitched everything. I was thinking that you would have used a machine to do the longer parts. I need to start leveling up my skills with folded edges and piping. By the way, I will be using some harvested furniture leather that I hunted down. 😂
You can use a machine for this bag but I prefer hand stitching and as a lot of viewers don't have a machine then it allows them to see how to make this bag without one 👍
another very professional project completed young lady.well done and thank you.i see you have found a skiving machine for your shop,a big time saver i am sure. it was a pleasure to watch this bag come to life.
Bravo et merci Jo, encore un excellent travail magnifiquement expliqué et réalisé. j'aime beaucoup la façon dont la doublure est réalisée et fixée sans traces de colle. Merci encore...
Good to see someone else using 3.38mm irons on a tote bag. I’m going from 6mm down to 3.38 the samples so far look much more refined! Not much of a difference appearance wise from the 3.85 irons that I wanted to get but was sold out. Now I can rest easily. Thanks
Love your content. About to purchase pattern. I've never stitched longer than a womens clutch. How can I hand stitch such long runs with a single thread? How long would you estimate? Thank you!!
I don't worry about using a single thread for long lengths.of stitching. The thread is unmanageable and tends to get fluffy over long lengths. I use a double arms width for all my long stitching, then do 1 and a half back stitches and start a new thread from there.
hello dear friend, i enjoyed the videos and i like your English accent cause i'm learning English by listening to many videos, and i saw you folding the edges of suede leather, i want to advise you to get a help of thin comb may be you can break some of needles of the comb to create a space which will help you to assemble correctly the glued parts with a perfect line, god bless you . i'm from Algeria, Northern Africa.
Hi I’m in the process of making this bag at the moment, and I have followed instructions but for some reason my handles look much shorter than the handles in the video! Have you made your handles longer than what is written in information. I hope bag turns out ok as I have no extra leather! Enjoying project. Thanks
Hello from Easton Maryland! I’m trying to make something similar for my girlfriend but I don’t know what kind of glue to use. What is the trademark that you used for this project?
Holy Swizzle Sticks Jo, that was Nail Biting SUSPENSEFUL! Amazing Work! Also, I got some of those Doorstops/Weights that Phil suggested to buy.... Where’d you get that Flat HEAVY one from, please? Gordy
Thanks Gordy 😁 aren't the door stops great!? The big flat thing I have is actually my lead punching block that I got from a friend a long time ago when her dad made some up.
Question you used a 5mm diamond stitching iron you said if you have a left handed iron to use it.Is this the same as a reverse iron? I do have a 5mm reverse iron from Crimson Hide.
I enjoy viewing and following your videos..but how do we in the USA purchase your patterns? Does PayPal convert US pay to your currency..thank you for sharing.
Yes it does 👍 you can view the prices in USD also by clicking on the GBP in the top right of the webpage on desktop and at the bottom of the drop down menu on mobile.
Nice. IMHO. I think that you should use cattle split with a thickness of no more than 0.8 mm as a lining - this will make the product lighter. But for a bag for everyday use, leather is not suitable as a lining, since it is prone to dirt (grease). The best solution in my practice is a removable lining made of thick cotton or gabardine.
I was very confused at first because you were demonstrating gluing & folding over the top edge of your bag. However - in the product there are NO folded over edges. Confusing? You betcha. Then later you added the lining. Why show the folded over edge at the beginning?

Nise work🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍
Lindíssimas. Parabéns!
Quais as medidas, por favor.
Nice work! It's quite hard to stictch through 6 layers :)
Haha, yes is a bit awkward but by pre stitch marking all the way through half of the layers it is much easier!
Is this Minerva Box leather by chance?
It is a milled shoulder 👍
Hello. Where can I order a large cutting/work surface like the one you are cutting on? THAT IS A FANTASTIC BAG!
Heya, I got it from ebay, if you search fo A1 cutting mat then they should come up 👍

I used the Meisi super fine linen thread

Because this outer bag is made in 2 pieces and where the bottom joins the top part there is a folded edge
@@JHLeather sorry. I didn’t catch that. Thank you!👍
