What a gorgeous looking replica, if only the replica triplanes today could have rotary engines like this one. Keep up the good work man!
Fokker DR1 one of the most beautiful items ever created by the hands of a human being.
Agreed.
I worked at The Old RhineBeck Aerodrome for almost 20 years and I Never saw Cole Palen wringe out a DR 1 like that! Awesome!
Must be a dream to have a closer look at Old RhineBeck Aerodrome . Thanks for watching my video 👍😎
705547 where did you come across a Lerone rotory engine? 110 hp?
@@pareloader5989 I´m just filming. Where you can find such stuff, you have to ask the pilot Mikael Carlson.
Absolutely beautiful flying, a DR1 presented as it should be.
Yeah, great pilot and great plane. Thanks for watching my video 🙂
Der ist so wendig....unglaublich. Was für ein tolles Flugzeug.
Klasse Video. Danke dafür
Awesome! I'm amazed this guy has time to build, maintain & fly these wonderful replicas on top of his job as a jumbo-jet pilot! Obviously an all consuming passion!
And he travels with his planes to airshows across europe .. sometimes with two different planes at the same airshow. A real Enthusiast.
Triplanes put a tear in my eye when they fly.
Every time an amazing sight. 😀Thanks for watching my video 😎👍
No wonder why this thing was the most feared fighter of the time. This guy SENT IT!
Wait! The pilot wasn't wearing a long, flowing silk scarf! :-) Otherwise, fantastic!
Great flying.. I live near an aerodrome where originals fly every weekend..obviously they aren’t pushed to the limits like these replicas..but still very nice to see them flying.
That sounds like a dream for every vintage aviation enthusiast 😎.. i would have to edit lot´s of video material if i could see those planes more often 😂😂
Which one?? I live in Pleasant Valley NY next to the Rhinebeck Aerodrome
This stuff leaves you speechless. "PERFECTION"
Wonderful!
Amazing plane and pilot. Thanks for watching 😎👍
Excellent filming. I was there and you really captured it well.
Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it 👍✈️
Such a beautiful machine!
Amazing plane😎 Thanks for watching my video 😊
I have watched all the videos I could find with Mikael Carlson flying this beauty.. his flying is superb and that is the only way a Fokker should be flown. :)
Yes it is absolut awesome to see in real .. you should also watch him flying his Fokker D.VII, thats the same brilliant.
Oh I did... but I'm in love with Dreidecker... :))
The flying smiley face :D
Absolutely fantastic ! 🇬🇧
Glad you enjoyed my video.😀 Thanks for watching😎👍
Super Video!
Georgeous
Thanks for watching my video 😊
Awesome ... thanks for posting!!!
Thank you for cool video! Pilot... No words, brave and height sill!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching my video 👍🏻
Super Klasse!
great show
Very nice flight
I'm a railfan first and foremost but this is awesome!!
Yes it´s an awesome to see this plane, nice to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching! :)
I'm reminded that the oberusal burned the castor oil as well as all the other rotary engines....also no breaks....so planing was important....
Fantastic
Amazing agility!
Ich liebe der Flugzeug!
Perfect German 😁👍 Thanks for watching my video 😎
Ive always wondered if these aerodromes can handle aerobatics, guess now I know.
These old birds are capable of an impressive show 😎Thanks for watching my video 👍
Super Video. Oberursel oder Gnome Rhone Motor? Habe es nicht richtig verstanden.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😄😄😄😄
Danke. Laut Mikaels website: 9-cylinder Le Rhône rotary, 110 hp
Great flying, he really pushes it. With that manouverability it is easy to see why in the right hands it was a deadly fighter. It may have been slightly slower in straight and level flight but it's climb rate and manouverability would have been decisive in a dogfight.
When you see what that plane can do, you can understand how Werner Voss fought seven SE5s for twenty minutes and put bullet holes in all of them!
Really stunning maneuvers. Thanks for watching 😎👍
Where's Snoopy?
Does the little wing between the wheels generate lift?
Yes
What the Hell is that guy thinking standing between the front of the wing and that spinning engine?
I was thinking the same he ethier gonna get killed or mangled
Every time 'Fokker' is said by the announcer, it sounds like an American from Boston or NYC, talking about their boss at work.
Nice.....
That guy with his head right next to the cowling is nuts. That's too close to the prop.
I'm not sure if you guys could help me, but his website is not taking e-mails (under reconstruction I guess) and I would like to know some details regarding the engine. When the data says "cruise speed" is that 1100rpm or less? Does the propeller efficiency match historic settings? Perhaps you guys know this from talking to him, I appreciate any feedback. Sincerely,
Hi, if the contact formular at his homepage does not work, i can´t help you, sorry. I was just filming his flight, i have no contact to him.
Cool, thanks. I'll try to contact the webmaster.
Ask on "The aerodrome" forum,I'm studying for the PPL,and I'm getting the plans of this from Ronsandreplicas.com; over there there's a whole section dedicated to this plane,it's impossible that you won't find what you're looking for: Carlson used the same plans that are discussed in the forum, propeller included :)
Thanks, I know The Aerodrome, but in general they have war data information, which is not related to historic replicas that fly today. And even then, the data in general is not detailed like the tests made at McCook-Field with a Fokker D.VIII. So it would be nice to hear what these pilots are getting in their machines, even at cruise speed. I got a response from Carlson's this week (looks like the website is taking e-mais again), but he does not fly with anemometer or any device to measure speed or altitude. So the data in his website might come from The Aerodrome indeed. I also have the impression that these pilots don't want to get into the merits of historic performance. In general they don't perform any tests with methodology, also to spare the engine. But they could register cruise speed. The only replica I got a comprehensive response was from the DR - I #489 /17 flown by the Memorial Flight Association, and the data was from the Service Technique de l'Aéronautique (STAé) at Villacoublay aerodrome, but he could not confirm because he was not finding the papers. And it would be nice to compare the data with other Dr.1s out there.
Originally the D.VIII were object of my plans but I've been suggested to switch to the Dr.I,which has a simpler and easier to build structure than the D.VIII,I sent an email to Carlson but the website should have trashed it,afaik he's cranking on a Pfalz D.VIII
is this color scheme of Werner Voss ?
It is the color of Johann Janzen, Jasta 6 from March 1918. I found this information in an article about this plane, i hope it is correct.
@@705547 i just wander why this guy and not THE Werner Voss 😉
Diceman Voss did not fly a Dr.I. Mikael built a Dr.I, and a very accurate one at that, so it would be like putting a Ferrari badge on a Honda and saying it is an F1 car
@@knightsofthesky FYI, Voss flew Dr 1 for sure, he was shot down in one of these on the 23 september 1917
@@dicemancolostrum7369 very similar to a Dr.I, the Fokker FI was a prototype aircraft. Serial number 102 and 103 went to Voss and Richthofen. Subsequent aircraft had minor modifications and were designated Dr.I.
God, it not take long to get off the ground.
Yeah, thanks for watching my video 😎👍
6:39 :-)
Ich liebe Deutschland. Hi from Italy.
Hello :) Bella Italia!
As usual mr Carlsson flies it like he stole it.
I wish it was red likes richtrofs
There is a red Dr.1 flying in Germany, but not with that "aerobatic" maneuvers. I hope i get a chance to make a video of it one day.
The way it should sound just like 1917
Amazing this original engine. Thanks for watching my video 😎👍
By viewing airplane show, the most important moment is the take off or landing! If you don't have it, don't bother us, the viewers, by your job half done!
okay
buttyfull plain
Thanks for watching 😎👍
@@705547 haha every time :)
We can say this guy fokk some planes in war
