  • Bleriot XI flown by Mikael Carlson at Airshow Hahnweide 2019
    In this long video you can see a late evening and a daylight display of the original vintage Bleriot aircraft. The amazing show is flown by restaurateur, owner, and pilot of this plane, Mikael Carlson. This plane is a license built original from 1918. It was built by AETA - AB Enoch Thulins Aeroplanfabrik - under the name Thulin Typ A in Sweden. The plane is equipped with an original 7 cylinder Gnôme-Omega 50 hp rotary engine. While the first Bleriots had an Anzani engine with 23hp or 25hp, the later built Swedish planes had 50hp. Note, this is an original rotary engine, not a more modern radial engine. This plane is an original, it was a barn find in the 1980s. Sorry for sometimes very long scenes, maybe later i add a more strict cut video. Sorry also for a guy that starts a telephone call next to me during the display. Annoying.
    Hahnweide Airshow, Kirchheim unter Teck, Germany - 13. & 14. September 2019

    One of the most beautiful designs in the history of planes. My brother built a gorgeous peanut scale version many moons ago. Thanks for the post.

      There are several, it was the first mass produced plane ever, for obvious reason, Blériot made between 800 and 1000 of these, and many pilot of 1914 of ALL sides actualy learned their skills on these.

    This is one of my all time objects of beauty. I saw him display this aircraft at Duxford about 10 years ago. It should be periodically flown but also savoured like a fine wine. Fabulous video, thank you for posting.

    That was a long take off roll and a slow climb out! I kept expecting it to appear above the line of parked aircraft, but it was still on the ground! You can see how underpowered they were. It looks hideously unstable too. Brave men flew them and it takes a brave man today.

    • @705547

      I think a barrel roll could be challenging with wing warping instead of ailerons 😆😆 But a loop would be nice too 😎👍

    Are there no ailerons….? Is he steering it by just using the Rudder….? Or does this Plane use Wing Warping …….?

    • @705547
      @705547  3 года назад +2

      This plane is totally original restored, so it is controlled with wing warping. Amazing to see the 1910s technology live. 🙂👍
