You’re supposed to look over your shoulder every time you merge or change lanes to account for that blind spot. In California that’s in the handbook. Yes of course it is safer to stay out of a drivers blind spot, but it is also their job to turn their head and look over their shoulder. Most people don’t do this and cause accidents all the time. Can’t tell you how many times in my truck I’ve checked mirrors then looked over my shoulder only to realize there’s a car right next to me that I didn’t see in the mirror.

I think countries should have another driving test when a person reaches a certain age to make sure they are still fit to drive, don't enforce stupid things like all the checks or feeding the wheel, but just to see if they can read road signs, follow speed limits, not have to squint, are within the lines etc... I know its segregating people of their "right" to drive, but safety is a priority. For example, my great-granddad (yes you read that right), is 98, he only gave up driving 5 years ago, after being forced to do so (my gran sold the car without him knowing, but gave him the money for it obviously) after he took a whole week's worth of blood thinning tablets by mistake within an hour. My granddad on my Dad's side however, he is a UK advanced driver and he gave up driving as soon as he felt that he would not be able to keep up with everyone else on the road, as it is unsafe.

People driving out in traffic, their brains are already overwhelmed by visual information resulting in the brain not processing some of it (inattentional blindness) but they are also surrounded by engine sounds. So the brain filters that out too. The 'loud pipes save lives' only works if your pipes are so loud that they become a public nuisance to neighborhoods and damaging to the hearing of people who close by without ear protection. On the other hand, driver's brains are trained to pick up on the sound of horns (unless you drive regularly in a place like NYC where horns are constant). Rather than loud pipes, get a loud horn.

Yes and no - in the UK if it's "called for" - ie if it was instigated or provoked - then you can get away with a restitutional letter. I nearly got taken off by a car merging in front of me and clipping my front wheel whilst I had my partner on the back of the bike. I dropped her off and chased him around town trying to get him to stop. His car might have taken a bit of a beating. He eventually stopped, lied to the Police on the phone saying I was being aggressive and swearing at him,, so I waited for the police. They took roadside statements and followed up later on - we both had to write a restitutional letter of apology to each other explaining what happened and why, and why it was wrong, and neither of us got any charges!

Love watching these videos. One thing I notice, and it doesn't matter what country, riders don't appear to put themselves in the best position on the road for car drivers to see them in their mirrors. Many times I see cars diverging into the motorcyclists lane, only to observe that if the rider was in a better position, the car driver may well have seen them earlier and not diverged. I've been riding motorcycles for 30 years including professional, so I'd like to think what I'm saying has some merit. Safe riding everyone

Yes and no - in the UK if it's "called for" - ie if it was instigated or provoked - then you can get away with a restitutional letter. I nearly got taken off by a car merging in front of me and clipping my front wheel whilst I had my partner on the back of the bike. I dropped her off and chased him around town trying to get him to stop. His car might have taken a bit of a beating. He eventually stopped, lied to the Police on the phone saying I was being aggressive and swearing at him,, so I waited for the police. They took roadside statements and followed up later on - we both had to write a restitutional letter of apology to each other explaining what happened and why, and why it was wrong, and neither of us got any charges!

I've had one time a guy tailgating me (just cuz of stupidity I believe) I've just signed to him with my hand to let space to me, he did, nothing happened. He slowed down impeding traffic and stopped the van from passing so the van couldn't tailgate him . You can't complain about tailgating then slow down to antagonize a driver and prevent any solutions. If he actually were worried he would have speed up to his friends and not use his bike as a blockade.

Love watching these videos. One thing I notice, and it doesn't matter what country, riders don't appear to put themselves in the best position on the road for car drivers to see them in their mirrors. Many times I see cars diverging into the motorcyclists lane, only to observe that if the rider was in a better position, the car driver may well have seen them earlier and not diverged. I've been riding motorcycles for 30 years including professional, so I'd like to think what I'm saying has some merit. Safe riding everyone
