    Heartbreaking Nymeria Fact:
    When watching “Stormborn”, and seeing the heartwarming Arya and Nymeria reunion I realized something….
    In Nymeria’s pack, there was a black (Shaggydog), grey (Greywind), two lighter colored ones wolves (Lady and Summer), and a white one (which represents Ghost).
    So seems like Nymeria’s pack is made of wolves that resemble the Stark direwolves. She found her family.

      Arya was not meant to go back to winterfell. Nymeria knows that. Kings Landing is the way. Arya (in Season 1) told her dad that "that's not me" when he said that she would be a lady of a house amd have children, etc...she'd rather be a fighter

    • @Drb3r
      @Drb3r 6 лет назад +160

      Well yeah Game of Thrones is smart like that. She understands or at least rationalises the choice Nymeria makes through her own experiences. Both Arya and Nymeria have followed their own path instead of what they're being told and survived. Look at how many others, both direwolves and starks have died.

      It could also be a reference to what she said to Ned earlier in the series, when she was first learning swordplay from Syrio. Ned told her she'd grow up to be a lady and bear heirs to the family. Her reply was, "That's not me."

    I think I understand the symbolism of the direwolves. Lady dies first shortly after that a part of Sansa dies as well her innocence and Naivety. Greywind and Robb practically die together connected to the end as Robb never changes so much. Summer dies when Bran dies and the 3 eyed raven is born even Bran has said he is no longer truly Bran Stark. Rickon and Shaggy Dog where so bonded that they where almost the same person and died without days of each other. Nymeria like Arya went on her own journey became tougher stronger and more savage but retained enough of who they where at heart to still connect even though their reunion was short. Ghost became a warrior just like Jon and they are still together at the end.

      Summer dies -- Uncle Benjin returns half human, half wight
      Shaggydog dies -- Recon dies

    • @beckyweiss6072
      @beckyweiss6072 6 лет назад +57

      @Maxine Waters. I think it's a bit different than that, and more subtle. Both Nymeria and Arya were effectively forced out of their pack by outside aggressors (Arya let her go to save her life). Both are now far more wild than before and living different lives.
      Both have lost their identity. "That's not you," is a reference to Arya talking to Ned when he said Arya will grow up someday running her husband's keep. "That's not me," she said to Ned, indicating being a traditional highborn lady is not who she is.
      "That's not you," Arya said as Nymeria retreated, indicating that Nymeria, wild, and not with Arya as a part of Winterfell isn't who Nymeria truly is at all. Both have lost their identities. Nymeria need to claim hers back. As does Arya, I think.
      Arya has some more growing to do in Season 8. We'll see Nymeria again, but it will only be after Arya has fully reclaimed her own identity as a Stark of Winterfell.

    • @voteZDLR

      Would have been nice for Arya to have had a moment with Nymeria in S8 but no, not budget, no time, need to show Tyrion arrange chairs for a minute or devote half an episode to the characters getting drunk the night before the battle of Winterfell. What was in Tyrion's drink, a glass of plot armour, because getting drunk and having no sleep should make you fairly easy pickings for the undead before too long.

      I saw it as her letting Arya live because they had something once, but too much has happened since then, and it started with Nymeria being chased away and not understanding why. Now she has a pack of her own, and a 'former' friend shows up out of the blue and says "Come with me". She was stunned for a few moments once she recognized Arya, but then she snapped out of it like, "No. You can live, but I'm not going with you."

    this is one of those misinterpreted scenes that not a lot of people caught.
    This scene mirrors Ned's talk with Arya back in season 1. After Ned says "you will marry a high lord and rule his castle, and your sons will be knights, princes, and lords.", Arya responds with "no, that's not me."
    It's about letting go; Nymeria is no more a pet than Arya is a noble lady, both are wild at heart.

    Nymeria's behaviour reflects on Arya's soul. She is a free spirit and she needs to be living an exciting and different life. "That's not you" is Arya realizing that a life within Winterfell is not what Nymeria wants, the same way it is not what Arya wants. I know she is going home, but she won't stay there forever. I guarentee Arya will leave to travel across the sea that's west of Westeros at the end of the series, probably with Gendry. It's foreshadowed in season 6.

    The world moves on without us. She knows it’s her but not the “her” that she knew years ago. This scene is meant to demonstrate that we as humans have a tendency to think of the world as waiting for us unchanged when we leave only to return.
    Everyone thinks of their childhood as a place frozen in time. As if they could go back home to exactly the same people and places unchanged while we have changed. The moral here is that life moves on without us.

    something interesting in this scene is that there is not any hugging or cuddling (like when Jon reunities with Ghost).
    There is sadness in Nymeria's eyes, she loved Arya, she was her part (especially in books), and now she can't show her love, maybe because now she is a pack leader, and cant show weakness to her members (like Catelyn does when arrives at camp and sees his son).
    This makes this scene even sadder.

    We'll never see her again. This scene gave closure for her, they can't bring her back it would undermine this whole scene. Also next time we see Arya she'll be much further north than the Riverlands.

      Nah I recon that pack of wolves will save one of the stark family in the next seasons. You know all hope seems lost, nope, pack of wolves comes flying out of the forest with Nymeria at the lead.

    • @akaakaakaak5779
      @akaakaakaak5779 6 лет назад +1

      +Alexander Ritchie I highly doubt it. The CGI for the dire wolves is apparently more expensive than for a dragon. I think the show runners would rather have an extra dragon scene.
      Additionally, why would the Starks head south towards the Riverlands? With 6 episodes left and the main battle almost certainly taking place near/at Winterfell I don't see how we could have them going south, certainly not before the final battle.
      Why do you think we'll get the scene you described? I have seen no evidence of this.

    • @scottgrimes1287
      @scottgrimes1287 6 лет назад +7

      Or maybe, Nymeria knows, the whole family is coming back together as a pack. She is tied to Arya, just as Ghost is to Jon. The Direwolves all bonded to their Stark keepers. The pack has come together for S8.

      GRRM said “you don’t add a wolf pack to just hang them up on the wall” we will see them in season 8, and I don’t feel like that would ruin this scene. It’s a reunion with a Stark and her soulmate. They are bound to meet again

    This scene is supposed to be symbolic of how Arya has changed since the beginning of the series. Just like Nymeria, Arya's been roaming around away from everyone she was close to, and has grown into someone different than the girl playing in the castle courtyard. Arya understands this, and her saying "that's not you" is a call back to season one, when Arya responded to her father's wish for her to be a Lord's wife with "that's not me." I think that Nymeria choosing to remain with her pack mirrors Arya's decision to rejoin what remains of her own pack at Winterfell, and while their reunion is an acknowledgement of the bond that they share, ultimately things cannot be as they once were.

      I thought the same thing but it will be interesting to see ghost again soon. The books made ghost out to be by far the biggest also ghost is the dominant stark dire wolf in the books. I wish the series covered more on the dire wolves. The books make them out to have a much bigger part.
