I've been digging some of Hugh Grant's role choices lately! Just saw Dungeons and Dragons over the weekend and he was cracking me up in every scene he was in. Love this for him haha.
Little people have been known to be typecasted as 'short creatures' before so I would understand why they don't wanna 'offend' them. Still, there are little people actors who can pull off amazing performances regardless of their size.
I mean if they didn’t want to offend, then why not make them different sizes, like tall, little, normal and other types of heights. Maybe that would make the workers look more unique as well.
But short people who arent named Peter Dinklage rarely get roles that arent written specifically for short people. They should be given the role of short characters when a movie/series has one.
I would just ignore these complaints too. The movie was about as good as a movie can be and despite the fact I expected to be disappointed, I was blown away by how good the movie was. I 100% support all the choices made.
I never heard or followed any of this “drama,” but I watch Wonka with my little one and they fell in love with the movie and music. Seeing the joy my kiddo has when humming or singing along to scenes is what makes me appreciate of Chalamet’s work in this movie.

Dude even when they do original things its never good enough. If you actually look at certain trends- originals actually tend to do the worst and get the most backlash
The problem with any sequel, prequel or remake- people fall in love with one of the original characters because they relate to them, or they are inspired by them. To them, this “Willy Wonka”, “Ariel”, “Luke Skywalker” etc is the one and only “true” one. It’s like someone coming in and just replacing your bff Steve, with just some other “Steve”. It will never be the original Steve, just A Steve.

Huh, I never noticed until now lol. I wonder if it’s intentional or not.
Right? It’s proper weird. Maybe he’s got some odd speech impediment.
Or maybe he’s been to Australia recently and is trying to over compensate in reverse, after picking up the accent.
It’s definitely a forced habit kind of like news reporters but for social media.
It’s annoying af and as bad as vocal fry and up talk.
Bruh im watching this ish rn and im cryin at this😂 i def peeped it too
I find it’s common in people who are new at doing serious/informative public speaking, def like a news reporter like someone else said. It’s strange that he does it despite him doing this for a fair bit
When the musical started I was a little shocked I was unaware. But Timothy Burton has never let us down and I was very curious if it would be as bad as most of these new age musicals. It was wonderful I enjoyed it immensely and actually ended up watching it twice!❤❤
He does a great job at it
The Wizard of OZ has been dragged through the mud for employing little people. There will always be a complain not matter what.
Speaking of which, imagine if they did a sequel to the wizard of Oz with a Judy Garland look alike, and put a filter over it to make it look old.
I've been digging some of Hugh Grant's role choices lately! Just saw Dungeons and Dragons over the weekend and he was cracking me up in every scene he was in. Love this for him haha.
I’ve loved everything he does. He’s funny and such a good actor. He plays a slime well too. 🎉
Hugh is amazing in both Guy Ritchie's movies, seriously, you should check out Gentelmen and Operation Fortune, he is damn charismatic in them!
he didn't do anything wrong! he was casted ❤️ so glad bc if yk yk
He kept the original intact. I think the prequel was beautiful
people say that oompa loompas are a bad look for little people. so when they don’t put little people, they get mad.
Thanks to what's his name.
@@adamsmoberly cause umpa loompas are shorts. So it makes sense to hire short people.
But short people who arent named Peter Dinklage rarely get roles that arent written specifically for short people. They should be given the role of short characters when a movie/series has one.
@Belle R. So true!
Yeah but the answer isnt to stop hiring little people for any roles, it's just to hire them for more roles that dont revolve around their height
i loved it. love the songs! A world of your own is sooo good.
Just saw the movie yesterday, the guy did an amazing job
Timothee is so beautiful.
Yes but he is skinny like electric post
@@Manfrommars808Sounds like envy-fuelled cope to me.
@@Floral_Green🤦♂️
@@Floral_Green looking skeletal like that nahh mann..
I would just ignore these complaints too. The movie was about as good as a movie can be and despite the fact I expected to be disappointed, I was blown away by how good the movie was. I 100% support all the choices made.
I disagree, I think it was just the casting that was off for the main characters wonka & oompa, neither fit
Just came back from watching the movie and it so good 😊
I never heard or followed any of this “drama,” but I watch Wonka with my little one and they fell in love with the movie and music. Seeing the joy my kiddo has when humming or singing along to scenes is what makes me appreciate of Chalamet’s work in this movie.
also why tf does it matter if stugsworth is played by a black character? HIS RACE WAS NEVER SPECIFIED
This is why we need original stories and not reboots or whatever, because you're always gonna have someone complain about what they grew up with in the past and ruin future films.
@@darla896well catcf has so many parts of the franchise. 4 movies (now), MANY musicals, a book, and a jr production so there’s not just 1 Wonka, there’s a lot of them. Ofc people can say that wilder or depp is their fav but Timothy did a great job with his performance and it’s not a repeated timeline so it’s rlly not taking away anything from the film
@@Robcopwk I think you’re still missing the entire point. Instead of recycling other people’s stories and characters, like turning the masterpiece LOTR into The Rings of Power, come up with an entirely NEW story. For instance Harry Potter may have used a few similar characters or plot elements in some of the stories but it was an entirely different universe, with different characters. I’m sure there are millions of fiction novels that would be great source material for entertainment. Not to mention folklores, myths, and legends from many cultures around the world- in fact, even some historic or historical fiction has made great entertainment.
@@darla896 i understand that but also sequels and prequels are also a way to bring in new people to like something older. I mean there’s lots of new Willy Wonka fans who are drawing fanart of it bc of the movie, and one thing leads to another and they may rlly enjoy catcf or wwatcf too. While yes, it’s not really original, it doesn’t take anything away from the movie so it’s harmless. You can’t really take a man who makes chocolate that’s magical into something else without it being seen as copying catcf
BRUH 😎! why can’t people just leave Timothée be. He a talented actor who is nice and polite to everyone he’s met who’s just making a well-deserved living in Hollywood. Why can’t people just go after people like Tom Cruise or Christian Bale!
The movie was an amazing movie i absolutely loved it. It was fun and definitely worth watching.
The people to blame are the producers and director.
Also anyone asking about why Slugworths race was change is a really idiotic question to as from a supposed fan. Willy wonka hired his attorney to act as like slugworth which I’m not sure these people even seem to know really exist. Because no one knew what he even looked like. It was a test for the kids, especially Charlie.
Personally I’ve just watched the trailer and I can’t wait for the movie it looks fantastic
Believe me, it IS!!!
A MUST see!!
@@janebarry-fraundorf4623 I saw it on opening day and loved it! The kids had a great time and the adults too really good movie 😁
@@matttweed8961 That's AWESOME!!
SO glad all enjoyed it so much, it's a truly "Feel Good" Movie and VERY "Family-Friendly"!! Another TERRIFIC one in the same vein, is "Journey to Bethlehem", about the True Story of Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus that was ALSO so well done, VERY beautiful and Inspiring and CERTAINLY "Family-Friendly", but unlike "Wonka, it just NEVER unfortunately got the Love and viewership it deserved! What a SHAME! That ALSO was a DEFINITE MUST see!! Try and catch it on DVD, or Streaming in the future if you can and of course I will ABSOLUTELY Own BOTH Movies!! Take care, Thanks kindly for sharing your wonderful experience with "Wonka" and Blessings to you and your Family!
Watched the movie last night and I have no complaints, it’s just wonderful I was skeptical but I’m glad I watched it!
hes so 😍😍
Being blamed for not commenting on a situation he didn't create or has any authority over.
Peak Clowning going on
The movie isn’t even a prequel to the 1971 movie anyways it’s a prequel to the book
I don't understand why people hate on actors, theyre acting thats all they do they dont have really any say in anything else
You know how hard it is actually fine little people that are also actors the only one that I’ve ever seen is a dude from pixels
Why do they make another one to begin with the Johnny Depp version was already good enough hard to top that anyway.
Tf did Timothee do 💀
Timothy was GREAT - loved the movie
ME TOO!!! ❤
the movie was amazing btw!
IT IS NOT TIMOTHÉES FAULT. He is just paid to act as the character, he DOES NOT get to choose who he is acting with!
Sounds more like the problem is the movie exists in general
Tim nailed that role. Hands down most fun movie I’ve seen since I was a kid. Kept made magic things happen and didn’t make me think cgi I just felt in the moment. Also makes the old one more sad when you watch it.
Went and seen the movie. Absolutely loved it!
Blame Peter Dinklage for this, since he was the one that made s big stink about hiring little people SnowWhite. Another reason why cancel culture is the blight of our world.
it's almost as if little ppl are more than the oompa loompas and the seven dwarves
Anybody involved in the project shows they really only think about money and lack key elements that make someone a "good person" such as morals, integrity, and respect. You can tell the kid is very self adsorbed and full of himself just based off the ridiculous stuff he wears to get attention anyway.
I agree with the first half of your comment, whilst the second half just seems like jealousy.
How is this lacking morals? Are you taking this based off an original actor’s views rather than the author nor the author’s estate - no one else besides the latter have moral authority over the work being produced.
@@Amber86queenbee The project went into work days after the man who originally did the movie passed away because that man didn't want the project to happen...the kid would be portraying that role. Horrible taste.
@@cassu6 I just see shit for what it really is and voice it rather than not.
It was seriously great 💖
Chalamet shouldn't be blamed for something he didn't do.he was just an actor and did a great job.thats it
Bro he fit the role so much I loved him as young wonka
I enjoyed it!!
When I first saw the new wonka I was like "wait a damn minute isn't wonka supposed to be old?"
I watched it and it was pretty good, especially that pure imagination song gave me nostalgia that u didn't even have 🤧
It was great!!!
I would also like to say that Paterson Joseph was really good as Slugworth, my Grandson and I are going again to see the film Wonka at the Cinema, we love it. We never said for any film we have seen at the cinema that we want to go back and see it again, this is a first and we deserved, I wouldn't change a thing including and especially all the actors!
He’s adorable 🥰
damned if you do, damned if you don't.
😢❤ I like it it cool we we won’t get the best killer in my life
Who agree that timothee suits the character of wonka ?
Paterson Joseph is rad! I would love to see him in more.
I absolutely loved the new movie
Tbh I like this version better then the first one so I think they did a amazing job with it
Amazing i didnt realize he was the one that produced this and had full creative control he took a role. Someone else was going to do this. The little people issue should be directed towards peter dinkledge who chastised hollywood for using little people.
I just watched the willy Wonka movie and it was very good I loved it I lot It was very funny and the song are very good too.
You just can't win and honestly it was the best movie I ever seen
Timothee chalamet should do a scary movie next, he has that eerie stare😮
want to blame someone to blame for little people for not getting roles? blame Peter Dinklage, he's the main reason.
Honestly I’ve tried watching that Wonka movie 3x’s with MyBabyBoy and each time we both fell asleep. Now when I put on the original Wilder version on, LittleFoot (my son nickname), loveddddd it. Timmy should do another Call Me By Your Name cause the fathers speak at the end, OMG hit me like a 🧱 and Timmy’s fruit scene 🤣🤪
Why do people nowadays get offended by literally everything. Only if these people have common sense maybe they'll just realize that there's no reason to be angry...
