As someone 15 years older than you, I can tell you that life is full of ups and downs, but the most important part of life is accepting who you are.. being able to look at yourself in the mirror and being happy with what you see back.. and i am not talking about outward appearance, we can all change something we see, but, i am talking.. looking deep into who you are and accepting who you are as a person. Once you can do that, then life is more fulfilling.. Enjoy your drives.. i do the same, but head out to the middle of nowhere and just enjoy the surroundings..

I found you from your common sense road courtesy videos and now you've become one of the most relatable guys I follow on RUclips as a whole. I needed this video. I'm going to be 33 in 2 months and have felt exactly what you said. I've stopped doing things I say I wish I continued doing 5 years ago and I've let life bog down and settle in a place I've not been happy with for a long time. Congrats on getting back to the things that make you smile. We all need to do this. You're awesome!
I think a car you can really bond with is a great thing to take your thoughts off of downs happening in ones life. That's what your work has thougth me and made me appreciate a well balanced and analogue machine even more.
I just discovered your channel more recently but I've been really enjoying your therapy drives and just hearing you talk - you seem like such a level headed and wise guy. I think a lot of people have a hard time at first confronting their emotions or accepting they have problems, but even more so on what to do after they identify their issues. It's really hard to move forward from there and I've seen people just accept that they're "messed up" and continue to do bad things or make bad decisions, but I think your advice really is solid. It's not easy, but the best thing is to try and improve ourselves even if we feel it's too late or it's scary to mess up because it'll overall make us happier :)
Happy Birthday man. I'm 32 now and I was one of the people in that camp of looking like I had my life together by my late 20s. In some ways I did, in some I really was happy. I was married, owned a beautiful home, had two great dogs, a couple great cars, great career, and traveled a ton. My social media looked amazing. But overall I was not being honest with what I really wanted from life and ignoring HUGE red flags from my partner. Took a 10 years of abuse and finally being cheated on for me to realize just how unhappy I had been. Got a divorce and have been so much happier since I've started a path just for myself, and found someone that actually wants to see me succeed, instead of using me for their gain. Life's too short not to focus on yourself.
its so weird because if it wasnt there I'd be fine. but it is there so I either use it awkwardly like a half step, or I trip on it when I dont use it lol
A very fitting and relevant topic for me personally. There’s a lot I’ve experienced later in life than the vast majority of people do. Hell…it literally started when I was born! My parents expected me in December but I stayed in the womb over a week into January! Lolol. There’s a lot of insecurity and shame I’ve felt around this for a long time, some of which I’ve gotten a grip on, and some of which still lingers and rears its ugly head from time to time. But what matters is that you’re here now and that you make the most of the present while learning from the past and keeping your future in mind. There’s already so much you’ve done well in building this channel and working hard to pursue what you love, and I’m sure I speak for many here when I say we all appreciate and support where you are right here and right now. Things will work themselves out in time, and it’ll be an amazing journey regardless of how it unfolds or whether it’s what you expect 😊
Great Tedward Talk, thanks! The tough times will always make you appreciate the good times. I'm old enough to be your old man and approaching the proverbial '6th floor,' and I see that life's truly a marathon race against yourself. My faith helps me as well. My maternal grandpa would always say that a good nap can pretty much fix anything. Take loving care, and keep touching grass!
Always love me a Tedward Talk!!! The therapy drives are the best - thanks for being so honest and upbeat, we need more awesome people doing awesome things through it all. Power to ya man, keep running! I think I’m going to go have a good day myself
Wow, I found your channel because of the GX because I’ve always been into cars my whole life. I’m a current freshman in college about to finish my first semester. And I see a lot of myself in you honestly. I’m a runner ran XC and track in high school. I just turned 19 a little under a month ago and I’ve had the feeling of “oh it’s too late” my whole life basically been a people pleaser. Not gonna rant too much but I’m so glad I found your channel both as a car guy and someone older than me kinda with the same thoughts. (Also relives me of being afraid to own the cars I wanna own) Great video
Some good nuggets in there, for sure. Life does not end in the thirties so recommend set goals, plan for the future, while being present. This 51 yr old is off to yoga and swimming. Thanks for the content.
My mom has a 2022 Lexus GX 460 and let me tell ya, it’s really great! The stability, the shocks, the engine, everything is so freaking enjoyable! Sometimes, we all should sit in our cars and go and take a scenic route, slowly and connected with life!
As someone who is 26 has been in the same job since i was 19, had one son got divorced, and now i learnt to stop giving a crap what people think of you and just to find fun in things.
I ran four marathons in my late thirties. 10 years later I'm about to give up training for the Ottawa Marathon (end of May). I've been training hard all winter but I developed a knee problem 15 days ago. Life is sometimes cruel, but my children are beautiful and my wife loves me. Keep up the great work. Have a great run! 🏃♂️
46 and life is at a great place with a wonderful wife and kids. Still a beast in the gym and peace in my heart. Came with years of working on myself emotionally, mentally and spiritually while making sacrifices of immediate gratification. BTW vision boards do work and imagination and belief is the seed to any dream. Plant it and water it until harvest. Everyone will have their seasons. Preparation is key and as you mentioned facing your demons head on. Been watching you for years. Part of my stress relief lol. I needed this. I'm rapidly approaching 30 and feel like i missed the boat on a lot of things compared to those my age (Max Verstappen comes to mind). I needed the reminder that i've got another 40ish+ years to reach the more realistic goals i have so long as i put the work in both on the goals and on myself.
I just turned 37 and I'm in the best shape of my life. The four channels I'd recommend are K Boges, Iron Wolf, Breathe and Flow yoga and Knees Over Toes Guy. I highly recommend calisthenics (not the crazy stuff, just push/pull/leg variations) and START YOGA NOW. It'll change your life.
Love these Tedward therapy drives. It’s great to be in our 30s and to be emotionally aware. Also love your channel as a fellow lgbt car enthusiast. Thank you for sharing!
Similar age as you, I weighed 138 lbs when I got married a few years ago. Started lifting weights two years ago (and adding 1000 extra calories a day ;) and started the Starting Strength program back in June and put on 30 pounds. Never felt better. Back problems are totally gone. Curious what program you are following. Maybe a Tedward - fitness / vlog channel? Great video love hearing your life thoughts.
Hey at Edward love your videos and have for a long while. I’m also just turned 36 and feel like I haven’t got as much done as I wanted. But we are still young ask anyone older then you haha. There is a lot of youth and learning left to do and I plan to make the most of it in the next while! I really enjoy your drives. I haven’t been able to own a car for fun for a while now, heck I don’t even have a garage at my place, but I’m hoping in the next year or two that changes for me with some hard work and dedication. I enjoy therapy drives in my daily which is my 2019 Ram 1500 sport! Take care and much success 🤝🍻🇨🇦
Really needed this, went though a breakup recently, and being kinda in the same boat of having that depression and dealing with it every day, it’s been difficult, but I think I’m gonna try some new stuff/get back into old things just for the hell of it. Thank you man.
My ex was cheating constantly. I didn’t go deep into it but I was really thrown off by the lies. It’s shaken my level of trust in people but I’m not gonna let that slow me down as an individual. But it helps a lot knowing how much energy my ex has put into getting better and confronting the issues they faced.
I’m going to be graduating from hs soon enough, and videos like this really help show me there’s a lot more to life than death and taxes. The lessons in it are great (and certainly having a therapist relative has helped), but it has also shown me that the struggle of life itself is beautiful and intriguing. Thanks, Tedward.
I worried, a little, when I was 30, about getting older, but try 70! I never thought it would happen, but I got old! I was still young, until about 5 years ago. I could do anything I could ever do. Now I can’t run. I can’t even ride a bike, so now I hike, moderately, in the local conservation areas. And I paddle one of my canoes. I can still handle the little ones alone! And yes, I also go for drives. I have several sporty cars, which I very much enjoy driving! I am happy doing the little things, now that I have no other choice!
I need “enjoy the poop” on a hat ASAP 😅 You make a really good point about confronting your emotions and feelings. I know a lot of people who avoid things that make them uncomfortable or sad and that’s concerning. Thank you for the wisdom! Love these kind of videos
Nice fleet. Always loved the GXs. The New one looks cool, I’m hoping that a new IS platform comes out soon . I have a passport and a tuned accord 2.0. Looking to get one more car maybe an si/integra or save up for the m2. My wife drives the accord so I’m looking for something sporty as a daily, would love a stick.
Thank you for putting yourself out there like this. I love the therapy drives! I'm older than you and can confirm that spending too much time at the office desk versus riding my bike has definitely made me less happy and less fulfilled. I've got to get back out there. To bring it back into the car world, I have my late dad's '89 Corvette and I recently fired it up and went for a drive and quickly noticed it was the happiest I've been in a long time. It was a simple, short drive, but it made me happy. We need to be in tune with what makes us happy and do more of it. With that said, did you ever deliver that envelope that was mailed to you incorrectly?!?!
Haha yes I did. It was a birthday card for a little boy in the neighborhood that had been addressed incorrectly. Glad I gave it to them when I did since it was his birthday that day!
I’m 60. Like what I see in the mirror and what I see inside. I take drives in the Wrangler or the Lexus and I don’t have too many cares. Nice wife and grown kids. I don’t care what other people think at this stage of my life. I have more fun than most people half my age because I don’t worry what anyone thinks. I got a few bucks in my pocket and I am living it. Does my body hurt…yes but whatever! Enjoy life!
In the workout department, maybe you should give a biking a shot. As long as the bike is set up properly, it is a very low impact workout with the added benefit of a fun mechanical device to ride around on and tinker with. Unfortunately, costs are quite a bit higher than a pair of running shoes though...
8:02 yeah... I get described like that a lot, but any time I'm alone... god the thoughts I have scare me sometimes. Thankfully I know I'd never act on them, and I am finally starting to work through it, but its still a struggle. Especially since i just recently turned 24 on the 9th, but I feel so stuck/lost in life. I didn't go to college and I really don't know what to do. I think I've finally found what I want to do but I'm also worried it's just a hyperfixation (thanks undiagnosed ADHD) I'm hopeful within the next 3 years I'll begin college to get a degree in accounting, but I'm at a point in life where I regret not doing this 6 years ago when I turned 18... but also due to circumstances I won't be able to start for another few years.
One thing that really bothers me at this stage of my life is the uncertainty, like for instance I’m a college student at the moment who is busy with assignments and stuff, but at the moment I don’t know what I’m gonna do after college, I don’t know if I’ll ever get into a relationship, and if I do, I don’t know if she’s actually gonna be the one that I like, I dont have a job (that’s a headache on it own) so I don’t know how I’m gonna save up for a first car, and I don’t know what car should I buy as my first car, some days I’m the happiest man earth for no reason and some days I just feel down and I feel like I’m the most useless thing in existence, and again for no particular reason, And I never diagnosed myself with depression cause you know that’s what most attention seekers do nowadays, but I feel like I’m not alone
@@dividedstatesofamerica2520 yeah and that’s why I said most and not all, but yeah I get your point The reason why I mentioned this is because on social media a very large portion of todays teenagers act like they have depression because of the attention they get from other ppl trying to lift them, which at the same time it makes it more difficult spot ppl with actual depression
Boomers got self reflection on lockdown in the comments 😂 Video was well done and rich with genuine thoughts. At 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 you'll hit other milestones and they will have their moment too. Thank you for sharing. Hope everyone reading this has a nice day.
There’s always someone older to say “oh you don’t know anything. You’re still young!” But we’re all entitled to aging and feeling the changes. I know my little cousins feel a lot different at 16 than they did at 11. It’s not fair for me to say it’s nothing just because I’m twice their age haha. So I look forward to growing and dealing with it as I age
I'm halfway through a five week road trip out west. I'm looking at getting a used GX460. Are they comfortable for long trips? Thanks I'm sixty. The kindness or unkindness I've given or inflicted to those close to me looms largest in my life as the most important. Aside from my faith. Take care.
@@TedwardDrives I figured. My other thought was to get a UX200 non hybrid. I know that's quite a difference but I would love to get 37 mpg with regular gas. @TedwardDrives Some people may think 30 is mature and try to "settle." But from the many experiences of my 70 years, I promise you, there are -hundreds- thousands of ways that life can throw you off course. And everyone is constantly adapting. Me: I think I'll take a walk in a few hours. *Watches this video* Me: I think I'll go now.
😆 amazing
👍😊👍 Thank you for this one!
Well happy early birthday tedward
Hey thanks!!!
maybe off-top, but i love how both ur cars have the same exact color specs
Had to do it haha
If you ever feel unaccomplished for your age, just remember that Scatman John's career peaked in his 50s, and he was born with a stutter.
Such a good video
Fuck yeah! Astronomy love.
Tedward : I am basically a squirrel :D
Something tells me you would have been an excellent track and cross country runner.
I had such horrible Asthma growing up. Not sure I’d have been able to at that point
More therapy drives!
Random question what are you housing in that garage that your new cars aren't in there 🤔
Thank you for putting yourself out there like this.
Glad I gave it to them when I did since it was his birthday that day!
i cAmE FoR ThE V8 aNd aLl yOu dId wAs tAlK!!!11!1!!1!!!!11
I didn't respect the drive, and now I'm in debt. I wish I had respected the drive. 😥
Enjoy life!
Dont worry about it, im 41 and not fully settled in to life.
In the workout department, maybe you should give a biking a shot. As long as the bike is set up properly, it is a very low impact workout with the added benefit of a fun mechanical device to ride around on and tinker with. Unfortunately, costs are quite a bit higher than a pair of running shoes though...
I used to cycle. Did century races. Got hit by a car. PTSD. No bikes for me

I think I've finally found what I want to do but I'm also worried it's just a hyperfixation (thanks undiagnosed ADHD) I'm hopeful within the next 3 years I'll begin college to get a degree in accounting, but I'm at a point in life where I regret not doing this 6 years ago when I turned 18... but also due to circumstances I won't be able to start for another few years.
hey ted, wondering if you recommend rust proofing. i live in Canada and hear mixed opinions all the time.. just wondering your advice and experience.
One thing that really bothers me at this stage of my life is the uncertainty, like for instance I’m a college student at the moment who is busy with assignments and stuff, but at the moment I don’t know what I’m gonna do after college, I don’t know if I’ll ever get into a relationship, and if I do, I don’t know if she’s actually gonna be the one that I like, I dont have a job (that’s a headache on it own) so I don’t know how I’m gonna save up for a first car, and I don’t know what car should I buy as my first car, some days I’m the happiest man earth for no reason and some days I just feel down and I feel like I’m the most useless thing in existence, and again for no particular reason,
And I never diagnosed myself with depression cause you know that’s what most attention seekers do nowadays, but I feel like I’m not alone
You automatically assuming they're attention speakers undermines your nonexistent credibility.
@@dividedstatesofamerica2520 yeah and that’s why I said most and not all, but yeah I get your point
The reason why I mentioned this is because on social media a very large portion of todays teenagers act like they have depression because of the attention they get from other ppl trying to lift them, which at the same time it makes it more difficult spot ppl with actual depression
Real quick, did you consider the qx80 before purchasing the gx? And if so, what made you pick the lexus.
Will you do another therapy drive but on the Type R instead?
Yes. Almost spring. It’s asleep for winter

Man i was hoping you show us a pyramid scheme 😂 love the wise words!
You can just funnel money to my Patreon or buy stickers instead 😂
@@TedwardDrives haha 😂 works the same way right?
Boomers got self reflection on lockdown in the comments 😂
Video was well done and rich with genuine thoughts.
Tedward please review a 1990-1996 Infiniti Q45! Those are amazing cars
agreed. thats a great suggestion
@@TedwardDrives Thanks Tedward brother hope you have a Fantastic Friday sir.
I'm halfway through a five week road trip out west. I'm looking at getting a used GX460.
Are they comfortable for long trips? Thanks
I'm sixty. The kindness or unkindness I've given or inflicted to those close to me looms largest in my life as the most important. Aside from my faith. Take care.
So good for long trips. Just pigs on fuel!
@@TedwardDrives I figured. My other thought was to get a UX200 non hybrid. I know that's quite a difference but I would love to get 37 mpg with regular gas.
The GX seems so perfect other than the gas mileage.
Thanks
Lastly, I almost feel guilty how at peace I am and how much I enjoy life now compared to when I was younger. Best to you.
@@TedwardDrives oh, and no need to reply. Thanks
Happy early 30s birthday😂
*Breaking News*
Nobody is settled at the very young age of 30!!! Many changes are coming!!!!
Absolutely! I just see so many people STOP dead in their tracks in their 30s. This is the best time to pick up great habits
@TedwardDrives Some people may think 30 is mature and try to "settle." But from the many experiences of my 70 years, I promise you, there are -hundreds- thousands of ways that life can throw you off course. And everyone is constantly adapting. I remember 30 and thinking I was a mature adult, but looking back at 30, I was just beginning.
I love the 2023 Lexus GX 460 luxury build…🇯🇵🤍❤️🙏
