At this point Harlan has already revised his will so that Marta inherits everything. He is therefore likely thinking that should he go to hospital and survive, Marta would be investigated for giving him the wrong medication, and despite it being accidental she could still lose the inheritance, which he has decided his own family does not deserve. So by stopping Marta from calling an ambulance, Harlan is also doing what he believes is necessary to ensure Marta inherits everything.

She actually gave him the correct medication. It was only after she read the label (since Ransom switch liquids) she begins to panic. Only to realize that she gave him the correct medication the whole time. She assumed she gave him a lethal dosage of 100 milligrams of morphine. But it was only LABELED as morphine. It was in fact the other medication. So in the end it backfired at ransom.
The toxicology report would of absolve her of any wrong doing. Thus it would still be ruled as suicide rather than murder.

However, because she picked up the vial labelled 'morphine' and gave him 100 milligrams from it, the report would not absolve Marta of negligence. She's a nurse, yet she isn't clearly identifying each vial before administering the contents of them to her patient. They will trace back to who gave that and place Marta back onto the suspect list. I've watched this movie 4 times now. Each time I've rewatched this movie I've picked up on new Easter Eggs, foreshadowing, etc. If you pay attention to details the movie can be quite revealing. Which I really love!
For example, Richard actually exposes himself cheating on his wife by throwing the baseball out the window when looking for the hidden letter that Harlan wrote. Next, later on, as Blanc and Marta are combing the mansion for clues he throws the baseball for the dogs in the yard but instead, they return the broken lattice, leaving the baseball out in the yard. Finally, near the end of the movie we see Linda returning the recovered baseball to her late father's study. There she finds the letter open and thus revealing Richard being a cheater. Full circle. Like a donut hole within a donut...
Also, when Ransom is first revealed to us the dogs are barking at him and jumping on him like crazy. The same testimony we are told that when the dogs were heard barking late at night from when he came back to mess with the medicine bag.
Additionally, just after Marta talks to Blanc at night (during the cigar lighting scene) on the patio, we see Marta go home and we walk in to see her mom watching the old TV show Murder She Wrote.
Finally, you can also see the painting of Harlan change from having a stoic/concerned look (when Marta is looking at it before her interview with Blanc), and then when the mystery is solved at the end of the movie we can see Harlan smirking/smiling.
These are just some of my favorite ones that I noticed! Others include the foreshadowing of the stage prop knife from Harlan and then Ransom stabbing Marta with a "stage prop" knife and the family getting Marta's nationality wrong every time they mention where she is from.
I believe this movie was wonderfully written and shot. I can't wait for the second one to come out!

This is based off of many of her books interweaved with a true story. From Christie, it includes "After the Funeral" (The contents of the will, except it's basically reversed directly), "The Clocks" (Somebody asking for money from the killer and being overdosed), "Murder on the Orient Express" (Where the main character survives at the ending through pure coincidence), and a few more. What comes from a true story is the basic layout of Harlem's plan, except that goes perfectly until the police realize the whole story and arrest the person who represented Ransom 8 years later.

Watching it now: look at the tire tracks on the road. If you've seen the whole movie, you know whether she's supposed to turn before or after the carved elephant.
Also: notice how Marta enters the trick window, and what she DOESN'T do on her way in. It's leads to another subtle hint later on that something else is going on.

Another example of how much Ransom really is the apple of Harlan’s eye, is that that Ransom came up with an incredibly similar plan before this even happened. He used the same route, even better because he actually avoided cameras, and climbed the same path and even got caught by the same person, all to arrange for Harlan’s death. He and his grandpa thought up the exact same wacky murder mystery right after another completely independent of one another.

Staged his suicide in order to protect her.
Finds out later that she's such a good nurse that she doesn't even need to read the labels. She can tell which medication is which just by FEELING the viscosity level of each liquids. Despite ransom making the switcheroo
Hires a detective in order for him to incriminate Marta despite the toxicology report will come back as Marta giving Harlan the CORRECT medication.
Which back fires completely for Ransom.
Fortunalty for Ransom he gained a CONFESSION out of Marta. Considering she can't lie. If she were to lie that she did NOT confess in the courts. She'd puke.
Fran tries to black mail Ransom. Backfires completely. Burns the toxicology report Fran had. Not knowing that Fran had a back up copy in her (stash)
Marta meets Fran attempts to save her.
Back at the Tromsbey home. Going through Blanc's analysis. Benoit pieces the clues together. From the toxicology report.
Pressures Ransom with assumed evidences that links and suggests that Ransom was the culprit who switched the medication, burned down the toxicology place, tried to frame Marta with the burning of the toxicology evidence and for the killing of Fran.
Marta lied about Fran being alive. Which ultimately led to a confession from Ransom. Thus sparking anger from Ransom which led to attempted murder on Marta's life. Luckily Ransom played life like a game and couldn't tell a real knife from a fake one.
Marta kept the HUMUNGOUS inheritance. However in the end. Marta will most likely support them financially.

Yeah Leblanc was suppose to investigate in order to ACCUSE Marta of the "murder" of Harlen that Ransom tried to orchestrate.
Now it makes more sense don't it.
But ended up figuring out that Ransom planned this whole thing all along in order to frame Marta for Harlens murder to invoke the Slayer rule thus making Ransom responsible. Harlens death is indeed suicide but ransom had something to do with it since he attempted murder on his life.
He got the murder charge for killing the helper lady in the end though.

I love Harlan's instant murder plot because his son did say that "The plots just appear in his head at a instant" He's an experienced writer and its been explained that the plots just happen in his mind. Also in the Knives Out series there seems to be characters many characterswith sort of abnormal abilities Marta's she can't lie, the main protagonist for PokerFace can always know if someone is lying, and then you have Harlan who can create murder plots at a instant. Its neat and I love the abnormality of the Knives Out series yet also still keeping the appearance of a Who Dunnit movie.

As a nurse you think she would have picked up on like how come he’s not getting sweaty you’re sick or incoherent. Oh well if she did then there would’ve been no other place to go on a movie I suppose.

And seeing none of those things hearing his rational thought I would start to feel relieved and wonder why none of those symptoms are coming are appearing.Course she panicked I gave her the character credit for being a human being however I can’t help but think a person in those circumstances hoping against hope that this person who she thought she injected with a deadly dose of morphine was going to be OK. However, the debate is moot Because without her panic and not doing any of the things I think a person might do under those circumstances they would have been no premise for the movie so that’s that

It is one thing to help Harlan if he suddenly got a heart attack or overdosed on pills or something on his own, but knowledge that YOU killed someone, that you are watching a dead man killed by your hands, that will mess with you, no matter your training.
