    An attempt to boot Windows 11 Pro on the Dell Latitude E6410 which does support booting Windows 11 Pro but not the installation of Windows 11 Pro without a registry hack or porting the Windows 11 Pro drive from a system that meets the Windows 11 Pro requirements.

    as a E6410 user, if you want to use Windows 10/11 GPT mode on the Dell E6410 and similar aged laptops, I highly recommend to not go to anything higher than A07 BIOS and disable Fast Boot in BIOS (by setting it as Thorough, the difference in that and Minimal is that Thorough is just a little bit longer to pass the post) to avoid the issue that when shutting down the system power won't power off. The A09 and later BIOS might have security patch about the CPU that interfere heavily with the Windows GPT mode bootup.

    My version is with the latest A17 bios, NVIDIA, so updated CPU with an i7-820qm (1066 to 1333 bus) 16 GB, yes.. SIXTEEN GB RAM... it's glorious... On the Dell forum in answer from those who ask the 16gb in '23 are mine with all the screenshots and explanations of the best driver versions etc found
    I'll probably have to make a complete video on my channel... With the upcoming modification with USB 3.0 instead of the telephone socket and provided by the empty ENCR space ❤️

    Interesting, I was dealing with the UEFI boot issue a few years ago on Windows 10 on this laptop, tried switching the order of the Windows boot manager and the C drive, downgraded and upgraded the BIOS, no matter what I tried I always had to press F12 to boot in UEFI mode manually, otherwise it always resorted to legacy boot (black screen), I read other people had the same issue on the internet forums, I simply gave up and used the legacy boot. There were some issues already with Windows 10 on this laptop. I remember that with certain Windows builds it restarted itself instead of going to sleep, and my one also had the black screen issue after Windows installation and major updates, I had to connect an external display to solve it.

      I still have a few issues with the E6410 and that the reason I run Ubuntu or macOS Mojave on it mostly. If I need Windows, I fire up VMWare or boot into the Windows partition.

    I don't care for w11 yet. Tried at first a clean install with uefi but didn't work. Anywah installed with legacy boot and mbr. Can I update bios first, then use mbr2gpt and then boot to bios right away and change to uefi? Will it boot by itself to w10 afterwards? Thanks

      How???

    • @StevePringle
      @StevePringle  5 месяцев назад

      mbr2gpt /convert /allowfullos
      * reboot and change to UEFI *
      msconfig > boot > safe boot > minimal
      * reboot and switch to AHCI *
      * put back msconfig setting *

    Hello, I have the same laptop, but I find it difficult to define the graphics card. Can you define the graphics card with a direct link? Because every time I update from Windows 11, the black screen comes!!

    • @StevePringle

      The older versions of the Integrated graphics processing unit (IGPU) graphics drivers will work. Please note there are sleep/power which I am trying to patch. So far, no issues under macOS. Please let me know which iGPU that you have and I can tell you which to get.

    how was the performance of this laptop on W11? I have the same model - Core i5 520M, 3 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD. I want to switch to W11 from 10

      3 gb ram is too low to run W11, even 4 gb Ram will face some lagging issue if running multiple app, recommended to upgrade your Ram to 8 gb.

    • @StevePringle
      @StevePringle  9 месяцев назад

      Runs great I can even run macOS on it.
      I used to be limited to 4GB but can do 8GB.
      Windows 11 will appreciate that as well.
      macOS only needs about 2GB to be happy

      You're welcome. Please remember that Windows 11 has a sleep issue. Hopefully, 22H2 has it fixed. Otherwise, restart and power off during POST.

    I just have one question if you shutdown your laptop it'll shutdown or you have to force turn off the laptop

    • @StevePringle
      @StevePringle  2 года назад

      Sleep and wake works fine. Restarting works fine. Hibernate and Shutdown leaves the power button on and the fans running so I use sleep.

      That's good news to wake up to.
      Please note there is a shutdown bug that needs to be worked on. For now, we power off during POST or reboot into 10, macOS or Ubuntu and shutdown from there.

      Use the last available video drivers from Dell and run in compatibility mode. Don't forget the chipsets along the way.
