This film is awesome. Camp Kernochan was my first time at TMR in '73. There once was a time I wish I could go back. But now I see how I was truly enriched spending summer here.

Keowa Waterfront Lifeguard here, It's so amazing to see how lively Crystal Lake once was. I mean, I've seen photos in the TMR museum but none compare to this footage. Thanks for sharing.

Camp Man Queens...lol. I know, I know. On another note, the quality of this film is so pristine and vivid. Amazing. What a great story it tells.

The place where the monument is, that's site 13 in Kernochan, we stayed there every summer my first one was 1976 . The best campsite on crystal lake. Keowa was ok but nothing like that one.

Reminds me of my own time in Scouting. First in the USA for a few months but there was always a low quorum on meetings on that particular troop. Then in Mexico where scouting back in the 90s was still pretty traditional. Semaphore was required in both the lower and senior troop. At the Rovers Crew level (where after a period of inactivity I rejoined) it wasn't since the branch was devoted to community and civil service, but to advance to the first level you had to prove yourself capable of training a boy scout in basic outdoor training and you had three to six months to prove it. Never could master semaphore though. Guess they had patience with me.
Just will say there is nothing like swimming in a water filled river cave at night or going uphill at night for a ceremony by the stars.

That's awfully good color for 1941. Hollywood only had it for about two years. It looks more sixties than 40"s.

I remember having to try to fit into those speedos when I was a kid. Hated them. Now my son, a professional body builder uses them. Recycle, Reuse, Reduce.

Excellent film...to think Pearl Harbor was still 4 or 5 months away...wow...The Scouting movement was really taken seriously by all involved back in those days...Very impressive...My "home" Troop still had a very strong following via families, Church sponsor ,and by the Scouts through the very late 1990s...then it started to slowly dissolve...starting with the Pack folding due to lack of Cub-age boys, which in turn affected the strength of the Troop...both the Troop and pack started in 1943....now it is down to MAYBE 10 Scouts on a good night...Scout participation is not what it used to be...almost patriotic thing to do...now, people nearly ignore it...sad...I'm a Eagle , Class of 1973...was a volunteer for nearly 13...now BSA has girls in Boy Scouts...Most of the world's Scouting units have HAD girls in their Troops...Even Baden Powell almost agreed to the idea...then his sister founded Girl Guides , and life went on....

I was in cub scouts & then boy scouts in late 1950's going into early 1960's. This was in upstate New York in Rochester area & all American scout clubs. But for some reason we sung a German sounding song that "SOUNDED LIKE" the following. I do NOT know, speak or write German so the following is ONLY what I remember WHAT it sounded like, anyone know WHAT it is? Thank you, Greg Dietz 30 June 2020: "ela what a ela what a skunka”
