I don’t usually comment, but I want to say I love Nair. As a teenager, I got tired of getting cut(probably due to inexperience), so I started using a hair remover instead. It lasts me a week or sometimes longer before I would have to do it again. My legs look more smoother too. I’m 42 and still use Nair to this day. The tips that Dr. Dray mentioned is exactly how I’ve used it for years and it works. I do it before I shower so whatever residue I didn’t get off, will come off in the shower. And definitely moisturize afterwards.
I tried Nair on my legs two days before my summer vacation and felt a bad burn a few seconds after application. Needless to say I nearly cried when the sea water made contact with my lovely chemical burns.
I’ve been using Nair for many years after realizing that I couldn’t deal with ingrown hairs from shaving. Ingrown hairs were leaving me with little bump scars. I used to be inconsistent about using moisturizer on my body until Covid. I found that once I started using daily moisturizer my skin felt less irritated using Nair. I use it before showering. Once my skin starts to tingle it’s time to rinse it off. I gently use a wash rag. I’m able to go about a normal day afterwards including workouts. This is an individual thing and we all must listen to our bodies. I do feel like it has an exfoliating affect on the skin. Immediately after I use a mixture of a teaspoon amount of caster oil mixed with a no fragrance moisturizer.
I lost all my hair from chemo, however, it’s now growing back with a vengeance ON MY FACE- even in my eye sockets. Sure I shouldn’t use a depilatory near my eyes. 😩
Omg!! 😂 In my case, I did lose all my hair but I had done laser hair removal treatments before my diagnosis of cancer and all the hair came back after Chemo stopped. My legs are the worst. Also 100s of dollars are gone just like that🥲.
I’m a dude and I use it on my upper check area and I’ve burnt myself a few times. I’ve leaned to use a a thick layer of moisturizer under the nair and it works great. For me.
I've used Nair facial hair remover for my mustache 😬 hair since I was a teen. Stinks to high heaven but it works for me. I tried waxing that area once and pulled half my skin off. That wasn't fun at all. I have, however, had a professional wax with no issues. Happy Wednesday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a peaceful evening. 💜
I am soooo glad you’re doing a video on this!! I’ve burned myself with this stuff so many times. Have to use the gentle kind even though I have thick dark hair.
Wooo! Glad I'm not the only one with that super power! ❤ Also, this makes me feel better, I've had some friends who love nair and veet. I tried it when I was younger, but I definitely wasn't following the directions exactly and got severe irritation. I didn't use it for probably 10 years, but I tried again. I still skipped the test patch, don't do that! The irritation wasn't nearly as severe following directions, but I still got irritation to a level I don't wanna deal with. However I have super sensitive skin; I can get irritation from detergents, soaps, even certain fabrics. It's just not for me and that's fine! Glad it's good for some. I'm on epilating now, and with proper exfoliation and skin care, it's great for me and my fussy skin. Less irritation than razors and lasts longer
I was so happy when epilator devices came along..no more shaving, waxing, or burning the hair off with chemicals…..and, it does slow down the growth…also works on peach fuzz….i still have the original Silkipel that was made in France..before being bought out by Braun….about 30 years old..cost a wopping 15.00
I found that Nair treats my KP while getting rid of hair. I have seen very few people talk about this, so please consult the best sources available to you and patch test before trying. I put on gloves, slather it on my arms and wait for usually 80% of the maximum recommended time (everybody is different, so wipe off patches to test, and listen to your skin while trying). That is routinely enough to get rid of all arm hair, soften all KP, and even reduce about half of the KP over the next couple of days.
Electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal. Even lasers aren’t that permanent especially if blonde or redhead. I had electrolysis done on my hair line to get rid of my cowlick
Omg I needed this!!! My aunt used bait and I tried it as a child but I remember it getting hot… so I got kinda scared and it had a strong smell. It freaked me out and I never looked back but it’s really because I didn’t know how to use it. This is very beneficial info for me. I wax and I struggle with body hair all my life but with this info I am going to try again. Thank you
I use hair removal cream since I was a teen and i'm 32. Over the years, i've realized that rinsing wasn't enough. So, I have this exfoliating mitt that I use right after with a fragrance free and gentle body wash to get rid of everything. I do it gently of course, never rough motions. For people wondering, I have very sensitive skin, not reactive but a thin sensitive skin. Those products always need tryouts to find the right time for your skin and hair type. Some of them need 10 minutes and some 6 minutes on me. Like she said, always do a test patch first and apply it quick because the first time I tried that, I burned my fingertips for having it too long. Unless, you use gloves or a cosmetic spatula.
What is your opinion on using these creams over (healed) tattoos? I have been waxing myself for ages and I'm pretty comfortable with it, but for my arms for example, it takes longer because it's harder to reach or get the right angles, so sometimes I would prefer to use cream. Also, would love a video on ingredients to avoid in general for the sake of tattoo longevity. Thank you a lot for your work, your teachings on Panoxyl and Differin have saved my skin
I started with a Kenzie and it worked but took forever. I decided to spring for a pricier Braun IPL and it knocked out the hairs that had been taking months with Kenzie. I was shocked. I debating for a good year whether it was worth the price. So glad I went for it.
lol I’ve tried Nair several times in the last 60 yrs and it has never worked. Zero. Nope. 😂 I guess my hair is a steel trap 😂 I have to shave every day so I’m a fast hair growing British/Irish dna hairy lady 😂
I definitely only use it on fine hair on my face after a long day because I think that the extra oil buildup on my face helps create a barrier from getting a chemical burn.
I hate that I can't use Nair. It always irritated my face to an extent, but it burned my face pretty badly once in my 20s, and I've never used it since. I just use a little facial razor even though I know it's not an optimal solution.
I would love you to make a video on Aklief. We have so little from you when it comes to trifarotene. I have started using it few months ago and seen some great results.
I can shave my legs in 30 seconds per leg. Faster than chemical removal. We used spray Veet on my hubby’s back (Scottish hairy guy) and it worked for a while, then he got some dry patches that literally were removed by the Veet. We should have known better. We use clippers/electric razors now.
Y’all. Just be aware, some people get chemical burns from this. About a decade ago my husband wanted me to try this on his back (yes, he has hair in his back). I saw it literally melting his thick black hair and it turned to tar all over his back, and within one minute he was in excruciating pain. His skin was bright red and puffy all over. I had to take him to the hospital and they prescribed him a huge tub of that silver burn cream to apply 6 times a day on his entire back. We laugh about it now, but he was not laughing then!
OMG My brother was going to the lake and had my mom use Nair on his back. Let me tell you,his chest and back were like he was wearing a sweater! THE HAIR MELTED JUST LIKE YOUR HUSBAND'S DID!. HE HAD LITERAL WELPS. We still laugh about it to this very day!!🤣🤣❣️
I really wish what you said worked for me. It simply didn't. This way of removing hair burned my skin and gave me marks I haven't been able to get rid of for years now, and it didn't even remove the hair properly. No, I didn't leave it for too long (3 min). It was the worst experience of my life. Granted I have sensitive skin and found that out the worst way possible.
I just paid for laser hair removal on my calfs...not cheap. 98% is gone after 2 years of somewhat infrequent sessions. Probably got 2-3 more before it's gone for good.
Back in my 20s I tried Nair. It didn't work when I left it on for the recommended time, so I kept trying more and more time, until finally I was using it for way more time than the instructions advised. I then gave up. Have they changed the formulation in 30 years? And I didn't have coarse leg hair, either. Now I just wear pants most of the time. 😂
Nair = rash for me. I just use a razor. Dr. Dray, let's talk about why some self tanners give some people (me) a horrible itchy rash. Is there a type of self tanner that is more hypoallergenic than others? I like having color on my legs in the summer but of course avoid the actual sun. Thoughts?
Dr Dray has recommended at least two self tanners without fragrance before, vita liberata invis foaming tan water; m-61 hydraboost body butter gradual tan (unscented). But even then, it could be any ingredient that you might be allergic to and Dr Dray and others have said hypoallergenic doesn't really guarantee a person won't have an allergic reaction.
Hesitated to buy some yesterday, but it says to not apply on moles. I have moles all over my body.... so is hair removal cream out of the question for me ?
my fav is from Eveline aloe hair remover or from Beauty Formula. wet the area then put on a generous amount of cream😀 wait 5 to 7 min depend on the thickness of your hair😅 then scrap them off or use wet tissues. you can take a shower before this first. after this you have to wait at least 24hr to use body cleanser😅
These days i was thinking of hair removal and the options that are available apart from the razor. I was thinking about laser but for the whole body is super expensive so i set my eyes on waxing. I want to remove my body hairy because i don't want to risk for ingrown hairs especially in the rear end (coccyx) plus i want the esthetic appeal 😊. The creams are an option too but i want the hair to be removed from the root.
I experimented on myself and used small scissors to clip my mustache peach fuzz on one side and not the other. The hair that I started cutting has grown back thicker. Why?
I get laser hair treatments, and I have to shave the area two days before. I never considered using chemical depilatories before my treatment. Would this be appropriate if I used the appropriate product for the right area?
I was told not to wax cause I’m using tretinoin now, and I hate shaving cause of the stubble. Can I use hair removal on the days I don’t use my tretinoin?
Any recommendations for ingrown prevention after nair? Something more gentle than an exfoliant? I took notes about avoiding tight clothes and getting sweaty heehee.
I have tried Nair twice and each time I got a severe Chemical burn and will never try it again.I looked like I had painted my face with red paint and it hurt and I did not leave it on the full time
So I have a question for Dr. Dray and I’m hoping she sees this message. But brace yourself it’s going to be TMI. I use use Nair and Veet maybe like once every two months for hair removal. They have a men’s one out now and I wanted to try it since I’m a man and my hair is thicker. I guess it’s a little bit more powerful than the normal and it gave me a chemical burn on my 🥜 (I know it’s not recommended to use it on that area, but I have never had a problem or sensitivity using it in the past there) I’m curious , what kind of regimen I should use for healing if I should be keeping that area moisturized with Aquaphor or dry. Thanks 🤕
I’ve washed my skin with fragrance free aveeno sensitivity body wash after I’ve rinsed Nair off, was this a mistake? I just wanted to make sure I got all residue off but then you said no soap 😮
Could you talk about the ipl ulike air 10? I’ve seen your videos on ipl in office and the at home devices but this is supposedly pretty powerful for what’s allowed in a home device. (I know in office laser or electrolysis is best but not an option for everyone right now)
Have you tried combing your brows up wards a bit? Or do you tweeze out the tops? You’re a pretty lady but the brows are off and it makes it harder to listen😢
So on the bottle my hair is too dark and coarse for nair. But my skin color says it SHOULD work. Nah. I get stubble just as fast and just as bad as shaving. It does melt my hair. It does not make my hair fall out like it should. Sometimes it does nothing and my leg is half hair. It'll remove like every other hair somehow. I finally settled on a good electric raxor i found at walmart. Cost 10 bucks uses rechargeable aaa batteries and it definitely gets alot of use and definitely saves me money. Takes as much time as nair but its cheap
These creams have never worked on my hair in the past so I refuse to try them again. I used to keep them on for so long that my skin would start to burn.
@ I bought a device that was supposedly for dermaplaning, but it didn't rid my face of the peach fuzz. I can't afford to see an esthetician. But thanks for the suggestion.
One of those little shaving devices like the Flawless Touch (i think?). Takes off peach fuzz nicely and non-irritating. I have a random knock-off one and i think it works even better.
Remember? I still use one and swear by it. Every 3 days minimum (when I used a razor, I had to shave every day), plus the hair is now more fine & sparse as a result of epilating, so I can go longer if necessary without anyone noticing. After 3-5 times, you barely feel it. And - the underarm area looks so much smoother than shaving could achieve for me.
I don't really look all that Italian except my body hair. It's awful. I stopped being able to shave because it inflamed my psoriasis. So I went back to Nair around 6 months ago and wondered why I ever stopped! It's a bit more expensive, sadly. But it's nice to get rid of ALL OF IT so easily with minimal irritation (for me, it's less irritating than shaving). I follow it up with eucerin & it's quite good
I knew it was a bad idea to put regular Nair on my face and I did it anyway thinking I’d only put it on for 30-60 seconds. It looked like I had tiny potholes on my face 😭. I’m in full on barrier repair mode with no actives. I’m such a dummy for not listening to my common sense 🤦♀️. Anyway, don’t do what I did!!!

Thanks
Is there any merit to the idea of hair removal and time of the moon
cycle? In terms of affecting hair regrowth...?
Ok BADDIE! ❤
@DrDrayzday how do you feel about at home IPL hair removal devices?
I have tried Nair twice and each time I got a severe Chemical burn and will never try it again.I looked like I had painted my face with red paint and it hurt and I did not leave it on the full time
Your intro 🤣🤣😂 I love you Dr Dray
I would like to see a video from you on PMD Beauty's Personal Microdermabrasion Elite Pro
So I have a question for Dr. Dray and I’m hoping she sees this message. But brace yourself it’s going to be TMI.
I use use Nair and Veet maybe like once every two months for hair removal. They have a men’s one out now and I wanted to try it since I’m a man and my hair is thicker.
I guess it’s a little bit more powerful than the normal and it gave me a chemical burn on my 🥜 (I know it’s not recommended to use it on that area, but I have never had a problem or sensitivity using it in the past there)
I’m curious , what kind of regimen I should use for healing if I should be keeping that area moisturized with Aquaphor or dry. Thanks 🤕
I’ve washed my skin with fragrance free aveeno sensitivity body wash after I’ve rinsed Nair off, was this a mistake? I just wanted to make sure I got all residue off but then you said no soap 😮
You're always a baddie Dr Dray 😆
Could you talk about the ipl ulike air 10? I’ve seen your videos on ipl in office and the at home devices but this is supposedly pretty powerful for what’s allowed in a home device. (I know in office laser or electrolysis is best but not an option for everyone right now)
In the meantime, derm channels I've seen talk about this device swolemd and Doctorly.
I have unwanted hair on my ears! Is this a good idea to use ?
Nair doesn't recommend using it to remove hair in or around the ears.
On your ears is okay, but not in your ears.
Have you tried combing your brows up wards a bit? Or do you tweeze out the tops? You’re a pretty lady but the brows are off and it makes it harder to listen😢
Try only taking from the bottom to shape❤
So on the bottle my hair is too dark and coarse for nair. But my skin color says it SHOULD work. Nah. I get stubble just as fast and just as bad as shaving. It does melt my hair. It does not make my hair fall out like it should. Sometimes it does nothing and my leg is half hair. It'll remove like every other hair somehow. I finally settled on a good electric raxor i found at walmart. Cost 10 bucks uses rechargeable aaa batteries and it definitely gets alot of use and definitely saves me money. Takes as much time as nair but its cheap
Can you make a video on pilonidal cysts? Since I have one and caused by alot of hair
But the most important question went unanswered: Is there a chemical hair remover like Nair/Neet that doesn't stink up the whole house ? 😇
omg You are a G 👊😍
i have pcos and its a myth that the hair doesnt grow back thicker cuz i have been fighting my chin hairs for nearly a decade
These creams have never worked on my hair in the past so I refuse to try them again. I used to keep them on for so long that my skin would start to burn.
Dr. Dray so sassy in this video! 😂
I tried Nair once. I broke out in hives from it.
That's skin irritation. It's not for everyone.
same :(
I’ve used it years ago and it just didn’t work. I do have thicker hair though
Greetings Dr Dray hope u r well n Yesss this Vid is Gonna b so Helpful🔥n Happy Wednesday😀n Thanks👍….
You too!
Nair works by being a safe out of shield option.
Can I use Nair on my face? I have found no razor device that actually removes the peach fuzz.
Dermaplane
Nair has products for the face.
I thought you were going to say your superpower is being Newcomer Bird 🤣
Who remembers the epilator? Ouch!
Anyone have a chemical burn on their face? No joke. Scabs with hyperpigmentation are a bummer 😅
I had one years ago but from overusing The Ordinary's "blood" exfoliating acid blend (it faded really quickly though.. fortunately) 😉
Sounds like a skin nightmare
