- I've wore a ton of watches while running, everything from Coros, to Garmin, to the Apple Watch Ultra. Is the Apple Watch Ultra, or even the Ultra 2 the best running watch out there?

I went with the Apple Watch Ultra since I already had an Apple Watch SE. I bought the Ultra preowned for only $500, still under warranty. Because the Ultra fits my lifestyle of workouts, running, hiking and cycling, it was the obvious choice for me. Plus, Apple is always releasing updates that make the Ultra a competitive option
Apple Watch Ultra all dayyyyy 😉
Hands down. Coros Pace series are the best & great value for road runners!
I purchased the apple watch ultra just because it has these best heart rate monitors and it’s other functionality, such as apple pay. its pretty much a cellphone/wallet/fitness tracker/ navigation system/ sleep tracker/ all of above. just wish the battery life was better
Long time Garmin user. Switched to the Ultra last year and haven't looked back. I like the built in cellular, solid build quality, amazing display, offers more than enough running metrics for my purposes and fits into my lifestyle better than any other running watch. It also looks better than most running watches. I train for and run 2 marathons per year and dont feel like Im missing out by having moved away from Garmin. I do understand there are certain things that Garmin does better but for the vast majority of runners who own an iPhone, the Ultra is perfect.
I also agree, I’m thinking of switching my ultra to the Garmin fenix 7 sapphire solar BUT I do love the ultra I’m running a ultra next a 56 miler and worried it might not last, I’m currently using the app “work outdoors” which has been helpful and doesn’t drain the battery like most 3rd party apps
I’m rocking a fenix 7. Data tracking and navigation are awesome. Best thing is the Battery life. I run with it 6 days a week and charge it every 24-ish days.
You so much I'm probably gonna get the coros pace 2. I have been watching your videos from the start and I love your content.
Get the Pace 3 its only 50 dollars more and its significantly better
Have you seen the coros pace 3 yet?
Ayoo what about Samsung watch for the android users! LOL I use my watch for running, and when I play bball to track steps, heart rate, etc.Interested in the Coros or the Garmin though.
Recently started running because I started watching your videos! Keep up the great work! 🏃 💪🔥
When I was about to ask if I should get Garmin or the new Ultra, your video popped up!
I ordered the Coros Pace 3. because of its new touch features. I was going to get the Apex Pro but with the extra cash left I bought the coros pod. I hope I won't regret my purchase.
I just feel like i have so much invested in my garmin products. All my data, metrics throughout the years tracked by garmin. Getting a coros would be like starting all over 🤷♂️
I’m in the Garmin Forerunner 965 camp. Good fricking review.
Couldnt read the Coros Pace 2 very dark watch face returned it, Apple Ultra nice looking watch returned it so many buttons to use it easily. Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 awesome beast.
Apex 2 Pro is retailing at $450 now!
I got the Ultra 2 & happy with it (for now) since I don't do very long runs. I like closing the rings.
Had an Apple Watch, now have a Garmin Venu 2, I prefer the Garmin, because of the battery life. I dont need many apps, I have a phone for that, and I have a Seiko automatic 007 if i need something that looks better.
How are the optical heart rate features on these? I find they’re all generally bad unless it’s warm outside.
In my opinion, the Ultra is a good runner's watch when you think about what else this watch can do (I won't list it now). It is my every day 24/7 to go watch. I find all sports watches too ugly for everyday use. I am very curious to see if this will make communication with my trainer more efficient when you can finally import TrainingPeaks running Workouts natively into Apple Training! Unfortunately it is not yet included in the WatchOS 10 RC.
Works flawlessly
Some higher end garmins are much more expensive than the Apple Watch ultra.
u missed forerunner 965 which I fhink is the best!
Loving the coros pace 3
when you use two devices? how does effect strava and data apps???? -> can someone explain
Apple Watch ultra 2 for the win 🏆
Shenandoah Virginia run must have been scenic
Can you take calls and listen to music on the other watches?
Coros pace 3 for me
man coros pace 2/3 is all you need. Imo it provides better data than the apple watch ultra.
Garmin epix is hands down the best in every way
Great content 👌🏼 Coros all the way for me ❤

coros pace 3>
Anyone try Coros pace 3 yet ?
It’s not.
I have the apple ultra. It is trash and an overpriced non working garbage and I regret that i bought it.
I just got a fenix 6x pro. Love it so far
Got duped into the Ultra 1 and 2. Always end up back with Garmin Epix. Ill never go away from Garmin again.
Not rly a fair comparison to apple using their series 4, which is now about to be 5 models behind.
The series 8 with cellular is rather impressive given how much data it truly tracks (and it’s a phone). Plus series 4 sensors are trash compared to 8.
And as far as battery, it goes to a full charge in like 30 mins and lasts all day and night unless you’re using it for literally everything and keeping the screen on 24/7.
I run with two watches Forerunner 965 and Apple Watch Ultra. Love my Forerunner way more.

I have the Galaxy Watch 5 pro I was using a fossil Gen 6 but when it updated from Android Wear to the fossil app it took away all the features for fitness that was Integrated with Google fit, it only has 2 aspects of tracking, Indoor workout and outdoor workout but it's not specific if you are doing indoor weights or kettlebell workout, out door workout you don't know what specific training could be outdoor soccer but it never specified and it was giving off Inaccurate readings so I decided to switch over to the Galaxy Watch 5 pro it accurately tracks my steps and provides way more variety in fitness tracking, stress level check, body composition measuring found out I was 26.6 body fat at 222lbs so far so good on the Galaxy watch 5 pro
Have a coros apex 2 pro. I initially bought the AWU. I use the Apple Watch as an iPad now. If you train seriously at all it becomes clear you can’t practically use the Apple Watch. Coros has options for my coach to write workouts and send them to me. I can sync the workout from the desktop or text directly to my watch vs AWU where I would have to manually enter each individual repeat and recovery on the watch. Was beyond time consuming. The AWU would also randomly drop workouts for me. Gave me bad readings. Had very little anaerobic data vs aerobic vs threshold info. You just had basic zones that would mesh within the repeats or workout zones. Apples fitness is just terrible. Maybe in the future they’ll crush the competition. For now there’s a reason 0 pros use that watch
I am marathon runner and I used the ultra for training and running. Using training peaks and a lot of other training apps your coach can send the workout directly to the workout app. About what you said about your workout being drops that either means you had faulty software or the watch itself was faulty. I love it and I use for everything. It’s true you need to add other apps to use it better but I love it because I use it as a smart watch too.
@@JJCA82 Im a sub 2:30 marathoner, not a single person I train with uses the apple watch nor any of my coaches or running partners. my coaches drop our workouts on final surge or on my coros trainer application directly and I can load it onto my watch. Apple fitness "apples native fitness app" is entirely useless for threshold training, aerobic endurance vs aerobic strength training, is entirely unable to differentiate between easy, medium and float efforts.
asking an entire team and group to download multiple apps vs just having 1 native app that compiles all data for me in one location is hugely inefficient and unnecessary for all my coaches and partners to do. There is a reason why 0 pros use the apple watch, its because its terrible for serious training. It’s a top tier smart watch but that’s not the purpose what I needed it for.
was a huge waste of $1000 dollars.
I’m using a Garmin Instinct and it works good enough for me. I do miss some of Apple’s more smart watch features though. I’ll wait on the Ultra 3 for better battery life if I go back.
Just ditched Apple Watch for Garmin, so much better.
Garmin epix pro 51mm
Ultra 2 does 36 hours In low power mode less heart rate measures and it won't use dual band gps in low power mode so the watch is useless. Full gps on a outdoor workout will only last 12 hours on ultra 2
Best watch for runners? When I was in high school I ran the half mile in 1:48 if I had an Apple Watch back than would I have been a better runner?
I have an amazfit trex2 and can probably run faster times than 90% of everyone in the comments, bunch of sissys!
Hi, i had apex pro (1) and i changed it for a pace 2 because is more confortable and for my level is enough
Apple Watch Ultra 1 💪🏽💪🏽
What watch you recommend for an intermediate /advanced runner?
Apple Watch Ultra 🤑
Great video! Been looking at picking up a coros recently.
Big fan bro😮
I am GNSS researcher. After comparing Apple 8 and Ultra series positioning results to other brands, Apple provides the best quality observations and the highest accuracy. Adding L5 signal is the future of positioning (over 70% better accuracy than L1-only)
When I inspect closely at a tracked Apple Watch 8 run in a from a friend in a big German city, it seems not to be tooo accurate. The tracking goes even through buildings and takes a lot of quick turns, that weren't probably there. Could it be, that it does not take to manny data-points and is then only interpolating the whole thing?
@@flolin8766 I agree that in a big city there might be some issues with accuracy because of the multipath effect. It this case signal is usually reflected from the buildings. This is the biggest problem in GNSS positioning. The usefulness of additional L5 signal may be very helpful in such situations. But we customers do not know if the producers started to use L5 or it is only prepared for future solutions. I have only tested Apple Watches in an open areas and some dense forests and the accuracy was better comparing to other brands. I also tested Series 8 watch on a track field and at the distance of 10km the results was exactly 10.00km. I am not sure if Apple Watches use some algorithms to recognize the areas you’re running on, but the final results are really good.
