    I had a lot of trouble uploading this video. I had to cut out BURNING MAN so I could upload it. My LEVIATHAN album reaction was also taken down I’m going to try to upload it again 🤘

    Mastodon’s final track on their first 3 albums are dedicatedly to Joseph Merrick “The Elephant Man”
    Remission: Elephant Man
    Leviathan: Joseph Merrick
    Blood Mountain: Pendulous Skin

    Trilobite always does it for me! The music perfectly captures what a trilobite is - an ancient deep sea creature. I can just picture one slowly crawling on the ocean floor to this song.

      Hahaha shit I just checked out was a trilobite is 😂 and yeah they’re so good at transporting you somewhere else ! Felt the same thing with workhorse

    The remaining albums have hardly any harsher vocals and are not so heavy, but for me personally doesn't make them any worse. I would go with "Once more 'round the sun" as the next album to listen too. The last track "Diamonds in the Witch House" is one of my favourite Mastodon tracks \m/

    I'm glad you checked it out, wasn't sure if you would. Seems I'm one of the few mastodon fans that can't get into the albums after Crack The Skye quite as much. For me it's Leviathan, Blood Mountain, Remission, then Crack the Skye. The others are alright just not on the same level, I get the feeling you'll feel similar. Also you suck for not thinking Mother Puncher is a strong af song lol

    • @highfeller
      @highfeller  2 года назад

      Yeah I am afraid of that ! Idk I’m still gonna check it out. And yeah bro hahaha idk why mother puncher didn’t melt my face like the other songs but still liked it

    Of the remaining albums- The Hunter, Once More Round The Sun, Emporer of Sand, and Hushed & Grim, I'd still say Hushed is the strongest. it has a couple of slower tracks, but also some really brutal ones as well. More Than I Could Chew is one of Mastodons all time best songs, and the guitar solo on Gigantism is so fucking epic, man. If you just love the band and want to see where they go after Crack the Skye, maybe just do them chronologically.

      Next one will probably be hushed and grim ! But idk once more round the sun seems cool as well hahaha

    Every mastodon album rules, best discog in metal the last 2 decades Imo, nobody else out there like them. From this harsh vocal stuff to their current clean vocal stuff it all kicks ass, anyway nice reaction. Also shout out Brann Dailor one of the dopest drummers alive, the drums on this record and honestly all of their music are just awesome. Since you were jamming to workhorse here’s the best live video of them playing it ruclips.net/video/24j-GglfA_/видео.html, they used to just scream and be raw as fuck like in that video but they messed up their voices, was brutal while it lasted tho and they still rule without the harsh vocals

      Alright I’m going to check it out ! Workhorse is one of my favourite from the album 🤘

    Comparing this to Leviathan is fair because it is the follow up. It's certainly more polished and less chaotic. But songs like Ol' Nessie with the extended guitar vamp while the drums show off or the slow building of Trainwreck, that will be repeated on Leviathan in the form of Hearts Alive, to the last instrumental, will always put this one as one of their best for me. Brann's drumming is the most show-offy on this record and to me that is also a huge bonus. He is pretty much the star of the show.
    If you want a slightly different flavor of the same style as mastodon, check out the early records of Baroness ( First, Red Album) and Kylesa (To Walk A Middle Course, : Static Tensions).

      Such a sick song, was so happy to finally see it live last fall. Definitely one of their best, especially cool live because Bill helps on vocals and he’s got some killer vocals.
