Doesn't the effects loop take the place of the ol' "preamp out / power amp in" jacks on the back of older amps?

great video, i hope it is still monitored, i have a question. i have an svt 3 pro, i've been told that effects like compression and distortion should go before the amp input, and chorus flange and phase should go through the loop. after watching this i've rewired everything through the loop and it sounds good. my questions are these:
do i set the 'active' button on the compressor AND the -15db active button on the amp? would both be redundant? (edit... when using an active bass)
and, i sometimes find my aguilar filter twin pedal has a lot of effect on my tone and sometimes it's not very noticeable, and i've concluded it has something to do with compression? maybe? if the signal is squished the effect won't have the range to work with to do the envelope? i hope i'm clear here...
    thanks for the video!

How about the SVT CL? Does the preamp out/amp in act as an effects loop? How about the DI, is it then just pre amp in (so if I use the preamp out/amp in section to plug in my effects, the DI will be post the effects)?

Does the DI output on Ampeg amps take the signal before or after the FX loop?

Thanks for this! Is the FX Loop on the PF-800 line- or instrument-level?

At the SVT4Pro, is it in series or parallel?

just trying to understand, but does this mean the fx mix setting is useless without using a peddle to give an extra effect?... in other words does the fx mix on the pf-500 change anything when adjusting it without any external stimulus?

Yeah, the mix knob controls the dry/wet of your normal bass tone(dry) to the fx tone(wet). If the knob is at 12 o clock, you get 50-50 dry/wet.
