    It's crazy how Nadeau could very easily have had 3/4 more wins if it wasn't for terrible luck. Way better driver than the numbers show.

      @@lucyloo2228 A fun what-if scenario is taking a driver and seeing how much their career could be improved by slightly changing only 5 races. As in, "they didn't get this mechanical failure, they didn't speed on pit road...". You could absolutely give Mark Martin a couple titles this way lol

    this would be considered a great upset but I'd say Johnny Benson nearly winning the Daytona 500 with basically an unsponsored car would have the greatest upset

    I think the best upset that never was in Nascar was Boris Said almost taking the small No Fear team in their 1st ever race to the win in the 2006 Pepsi 400 against the likes of Stewart and the Busch bros. Feel like nobody talks about that one very much

    Oh not this race...
    Like, I'm happy that Ricky Rudd did get his revenge on NASCAR for screwing him at Sonoma in 1991... but I really wish it wasn't at Jerry Nadeau's expense. 💔

    Bobby Hamilton winning was only a week after i had attended my first ever NASCAR race, plus i had chose the iconic 43 as my car/driver. I stuck with Bobby until i stopped watching in 2002. Was heartbroken i heard he died in 2007 to cancer.

    The main thing I remember from that ATL race that Nadeau won was that #3 went from 8th (I guess...my memory told me 10th, but video didn't lie) to 2nd on that last run.
    ALSO, that race ran on Monday because of weather. Stands look pretty full for a Monday.

    I had just started summer vacation between the 6th and 7th grades when that race happened. That 44 pulling into victory lane would have easily been among the biggest upsets in NASCAR history. Only time I ever saw the 44 GP team have even a slight chance at a win or Top 5.

    Hey my friend just a correction to your video; Richard Petty did not get all of his 200 wins with Petty Enterprises, He got 196 with Petty Enterprises, 2 in a co-deal with Roberton & Petty & his last 2 wins in 1984 was when he was driving for Mike Curb, even tho it was still the 43, Richard had actually left P.E. hoping to find better performance for 84 & 85.. Hope this helps..

  • @BrettMKW
    @BrettMKW Месяц назад +1

    I will always say that outside of the drivers who lost their lives on the race track Nadeau was the unluckiest driver in NASCAR. (Yes, even over Steve Park.)
    Also a fun fact, the reason why Petty didn't run the 43 in 1993 was because he tried to retire the 43, but NASCAR owns all the numbers and teams actually pay to lease them for the year, and NASCAR does not retire numbers. With that said NASCAR basically went to Petty and said "if you don't run the number in 1994 we're putting it back on the market for someone else to lease." After that they ran the number ever since.
    That's not unheard of btw, RCR paid for the right to use the 3 all those years between Dale Sr.'s passing and Austin Dillon, but NASCAR didn't care because they were still getting paid. Hendrick did that between Kasey Kahne and Kyle Larson when no one used the 5, RFK shelved the 6 for a year or two, and I'd bet anything JGR is still paying to hold the 18.
