"HEY KASEY KAHNE LOST IT"
"Oh there's oil Oh there's oil on the race track"
"That's what it is"
"Boy Darrell I'd rather finish second by a foot like he has done three times than have it end like that"

FR BRO ESPECIALLY AS A KAHNE FAN
Kasey Kahne was my all time favorite driver, and I’m going to be biased and say he deserves more recognition for his trials and failures.
Also, how many other drivers can say they won the Coke 600 3 times?
Kasey is also my favorite driver and I 100% agree he deserved more recognition but it was beyond painful watching him lose personally I hope he never returns to Nascar he was someone Nascar took for granted
@@rowdyseverlastinganimes518100%… although I think his time with Hendricks was really their push for him an he just underperformed in that 5 car. You could argue that it came a couple years too late though as I felt he spent too much time with evernham. Regardless, my dad was a huge Elliott fan growing up and loved Kasey Kahne in that #9 car. So naturally I followed him as well. My favorite all time driver! Wish he wouldve had better finishes in some of his years or even a chip.
Agreeable
@@essayegg6990 Absolutely I’ve Always Hated Rick Hendrick For That I Wish Kasey Went To A Team That Didn’t Pick Favorites But Then Again Rick Hendrick Is known for Having more blood in his Stomach than His Brain 😂
@@essayegg6990honestly Kasey just never got a good crew chief (his crew chief was Dillon’s crew chief last year and Dillon had his worst season ever)

As a Kahne fan that October charlotte race haunts me, that Mopar scheme was so clean
Same here i agree loved all his schemes in that 9 Car gotta agree that Mopar Scheme was sexy
was a Huge Kahne fan
I feel the same, but I still love to watch it just for his sheer dominance.
I love stories like this, where the greatness is *in* the losing.
"It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life." ~Jean-Luc Picard.
Love the TNG reference. Great episode
Kasey gets shit on too much, sure he didn't have the Jeff Gordon-esque career many of us thought he'd have, but his stats are nothing to sneeze at.
I feel like Kasey Kahne was always just one step away from greatness. He had tons of talent and showed flashes of brilliance, but was completely invisible at other times.
I remember doing a school report about young NASCAR drivers back in 05, and I remember noting that Kahne had five runner-ups that season, four of which came to yellow cars.
Now those are the kind of stats I enjoy...like Bill Elliott won 43 races in red cars, only once did he win in a primarily blue car.
1. WOOO NEW ELLY VIDEO
2. About the editor's note at 7:01- electronic scoring was only implemented starting with 1993 Sonoma, so there may have been more extremely close finishes that have never been accounted for. Still a very impressive achievement though
A few examples that had photo finishes but no official timings would be Mark Martin and Davey Allison at Bristol in 1990, Dale Jarrett and Davey Allison at Michigan in 1991, and Lee Petty and Johnny Beauchamp in the first Daytona 500 in 1959
Being in the crowd at that race, when Kasey’s tire let go… many of us were rooting for the “new kid” to win it, even if you rooted for someone else, so many wanted to see him win. It was a huge collective sigh of disappointment when that tire let go. Sad beyond words.
Being a Kasey kahne fan produced the lowest of lows giving you glimpses and hope every now and then. but god damn when nothing bad happened and he got the dub did it feel damn good
New EllyProductions49 banger 🗣🗣🗣
That race at Rockingham made me a Kasey Kahne fan, and this video was like getting kicked in the balls for 16 mins. Looking back felt like every other week Kahne would just miss the win
The saddest thing about the 2004 Dover race is NASCAR would’ve thrown the caution 9 times out’ve 10 in that situation. It could be assumed nascar held the caution because Kahne always seemed to be off on the restarts during that race. Even when NASCAR itself wants to help benifit Kahne it goes wrong.
And now hes a pretty good dirt track racer
Elly really said “eh screw it ARCA sucked so ill upload this early instead.”
Based move
People still watch that garbage?
@@ps3beatswii the superspeedway races are entertaining in the same way that watching wreck compilations on the speedway. If you just don't care about anyone in the series, it's more fun watching them all crash.
@@gamez4420 like only 1 caution is crazy
Kahne was never my top driver but the blue and white Mopar scheme you used on the thumbnail has always been my favorite livery in Nascar. It's perfect. (Well I prefer the 05 version)
He had all of these amazing one-off schemes with dodge. Mopar, the mango orange from speed weeks, the flamin Hemi. Hell, even the movie themed cars came out great.
@@gabepollock1641 I loved the white with red stripes version they ran once.
@@ayrton42 "reverse pit cap", I think they ran it twice (either Cali or Michigan and Indy).
I liked the regular pit cap better from 04, red with white stripes - but both were so ridiculously clean.

Just let him get some sleep. He can always watch the video later. Hate these dumb and unoriginal comments.

@@sunshinecoolwater9528You seem fun at parties.
This was tough to watch... Thank god he managed to win Brickyard 400 once. Guy deserved it after all the challenges in his career
I remember watching and told my dad hes good and will win soon, yet never did....he was so talented but had 0 luck.
I think it broke him, he couldve been a champion
I was at the Richmond Race where he got his first win. A good race to witness in person
I got to witness kahne win New Hampshire in 2012. I wish I was older at the time to appreciate it more. Didn’t see a Hendrick car win in person till Willy B 2 weeks ago at Martinsville.
Saw Kasey wheel his family sprint car when he was 19. Knew right away that first night he was a special talent!
i dont watch much nascar so i thought he won in only his second start in 2002, but that was Jamie Mcmmurry, maybe you can do a vid on him in the future, cuz i remember him being pretty interesting too
My dad was a huge Kahne fan while I was growing up. Naturally I’d find myself rooting for him aswell. Stand up guy Kahne will always be a legend to me.
Lady Luck just kept edging this poor guy
Lady Luck just despised Kasey Kahne in 2004.
Kahne's rough start is easy to forget with his later success. But you gotta feel for guys that just never can shake that witch doctor curse of bad luck. Will Kimmel in the Arca series is a great example. 133 Starts, 43 top 10s, as long as he has a motor he's competitive. But the weird things that have broken, let go, and given out to keep him from victory lane are bewildering. Now he's most known for that time his throttle stuck and launched him into a parking lot.
thanks for reminding me of the pain of my favorite driver. very cool, elly
As a Washingtonian, it's awesome to see recognition for one of the coolest drivers to come from here.
I think about the allstate Kasey kahne commercial often
Thanks for making me relive my childhood pain Connor
I'll never forget that Dover race. The announcers were saying there might be oil on the track, and we were all screaming for them to put out the yellow.
And the Charlotte race was just complete devastation. I was a Jeff Gordon fan, didn't particularly root for Kasey (although it was fun to see a new guy fighting for wins), but I remember just feeling heartbroken for him. What an odd season that was.
Elly,
Don’t remind me of the pain that came with being a Kahne fan. I’m getting PTSD rn.
Now just to do a vid on how unlucky the end of his career was 😢 exited the sport too soon over health problems I believe
My god that season was painful.
I was a Terry Labonte fan transitioning to the new kid Kahne (I always liked the #9 Dodge) as my guy clearly began to ride off into the sunset.
My brother was a Gordon fan, and got to watch him score more points than any other driver and not win his deserved fifth title.
Whenever I hear #9 I think of Kasey Kahne.
Man I’m happy some taking about him. I remember as kid thought be next Tony Stewart. Sad how his career ended up panning out.
My favourite driver. Forever a kahne fan 😢
KAHNE FANS UNITE FOREVER
Oh this was so timely. I JUST watched a bunch of races where Kahne was runner up or going to win and wrecked (Dover) this week. Can't wait to see this!
Kahne has always been my favorite driver. I respected the hell out of how close he came trying to get that first win his rookie season. I hadn't seen a rookie go and give the veterans a run for their money so many times like he had that year, and that made me a fan for life. I'll also never forget how incredible it was to be a Kahne fan in 2006. Dude was on rails at the intermediate tracks that year. Just wish his later years were kinder to him. Wish he'd gotten a better send-off in NASCAR. He surely deserves more recognition than he gets. 18 wins in the top series in the country is nothing to sneeze at, and 4 of them were crown jewel races, but sadly, he either gets overlooked or discredited for what he was able to accomplish. But he'll always be my favorite!
Anyone else think the 2005-2007 dodge looks super cool?
One of the hottest looking race cars ever built.
I love this video! Please do more vids on the background of interesting drivers!
Damn, it makes me feel old remembering watching those races live on tv as a 15 year old. I still remember thinking how good Kasey was then... It was cool seeing him at the Texas Dirt Track last weekend
I was 11 the night that race aired and was watching.
13:50 i love that callback to the daniel hemric video lmao
Correction: The #9 wouldn't have made the Chase if it had existed in 2003. Bill was 16th in points with ten races to go. He ended up 9th in the end, but only due to a late season charge, combined with Michael Waltrip falling off a cliff.
So this is what Kyle Petty meant when he compared my boy Ryan Blaney to Kasey Kahne 😁
I don't blame him tbh, I mean for the longest time it looked like Blaney was never gonna live up to his potential
Very talented, had some success at least more than many others who've been in Nascar. Those last few years though at Evernham/RPM (07-10) stunted his growth.
what a wonderful talent Kasey Kahne is🥳...
My Dad and I were at Richmond to see his first win, what a moment
One of my all time favorite drivers
1 month ago i couldn’t care less abt nascar and i still kinda don’t get the sport at all but i’m superrrr hooked on this channel because his voice and his storytelling and his pace and the clips he chooses to show and the way he provides context is like cocomelon to me. never change bro

He can always catch the video when he wakes up, my guy...
@@sunshinecoolwater9528 well she needs to wake up NOW
I really never knew much about this guy (before this vid) but I always knew he had some talent. I now know that he should've been much bigger than he was or had become
And the following year, Kahne would get his first win. Came at the cost of inconsistency.
Kasey seems like the Lando Norris of nascar. Especially with that sprint at China😭
We need a vid on how hard it is to pass Ryan Newman. I feel like it was a well known thing that ended up being forgotten about.
this video was fantastic and I really enjoyed it but the only thing i'd change would be to to spend more time on when he finally got a win, I feel like after 15 minutes of build up you should have said more or told more of a story about it
His depiction prompts you to search more about Kahne. Objective achieved

Truly the Charles Leclerc of NASCAR.
Another banger by Elly 🔥
If that Charlotte race was only 400 miles instead he would have finally won his first race.
I was a Kasey fan since he came into the sport. Ofc I was born the year he started but I've always been a fan. When he retired I went to bowman who is a mirror of kahne it seems like.
Another amazing video 🤝
You know, if I ever drove a NASCAR, I would like to drive a Dodge.
I swear I saw this video idea in the comment, in the previous video.
BILL ELLIOTT IS RELATED TO CHASE ELLIOTT? THAT'S THE NEWS THAT SURPRISED ME IN THIS VIDEO!
Kasey is basically Leclerc
I’ve always had a soft spot for Kasey Kahne. Idk why but I know I could never dislike him.
I remember that mopar car at charlotte. That car was Bad Fast!!
Fun fact: kasey kahne has the highest average finish of any truck series driver ever minimum 5 races
Lady Luck... the only lady that didn't have a crush on Kasey
I always liked Kasey Kahne and the Dodge No. 9
Gotta love the Mario cart 64 background music
Kasey Kahne was great when luck wasn't bound to screw him over. And when he was good, you can't catch him. Superspeedways were his nemisis. He never won a Daytona or Talladega Cup race. He won in the Busch Series, but srill luck hated him. Although how many can say they won every truck race they've entered (only has six), but the worst he finished was a damn runner up?
I always have to wonder if another season to cook in the Busch Series might have helped Kasey in his overall career. 2004 would have looked very different without him, but still, have to wonder.
kasey kahne was my dads favorite driver when i was a kid and that in turn made him mine, i loved watching him race but consistently hated the endings
0:50 Goddamn it, im literally crying waterfalls and i dont even watch NASCAR.
My dad was a kahne fan cuz he always rooted for the best dodge. Was a marlin fan beforehand
