I just learned how to do a pushup after about a year of doing half pushups and I can't be more proud of myself.
Good for you! I hope to get there lol Any tips other than what she gave here? How often do you do them per week and how long each time?
good for youuuu!!! :D
You’re an inspiration!
wish to get there keep it up
Proud of youuuuu ^_^
It is so much easier when you are of normal weight. I appreciate all of you who are trying to gain or lose weight out there :)
I agree its almost impossible especially as a woman, to do a proper pushup when you are even 15 to 20 lds overweight. After all you are lifting your body weight!
So that’s why I cant do a push up. Im hella fat
@@elisaiancau8987 wish you the best on your weight loss journey
Is this normal? ruclips.net/video/Q_OLyRrFtZ0/видео.html
@Tranny Granny Fluff same I'm perfectly slim I can left heavy things but so weak to do even a push up
*Start* where you are.
*Use* what you have.
*Do* what you can.
145 likes and no replies? Lemme fix that🔧
I did pushups on staircases for 18 days straight and on 19th day I was able to do my first complete pushup
its been 9 months how u going now?
1 year how you doing?
Pathetic
1 year and 4+ months, how you doing?
1 year, 4 months, and 1 day, how you doing?
Push-ups are one of my favourite exercises ever. There’s just something so satisfying(at least to me) about being able to go all the way down and come back up smoothly. I do them everyday. A total of 50 push-ups but spilt into sets. The maximum that I can do in one go without stopping is usually 15 but 20 on a good day. Being consistent with this, you will really start to see your body change. I don’t do any other forms of strengthening exercises just push-ups and my cardio daily and I’ve started to see my back, my abs, my chest and obviously my arms become so much more defined. It’s amazing.
Hi! Could you please share your cardio routine? I’m trying to get shredded and my routine doesn’t seem to be working, so could you please share the routine?
I see that you're really into push ups. Be careful though of training one set of muscles over a long period of time and neglecting the opposing muscles - the lats, biceps and rear delts in this case. This can lead to an imbalance and an increased risk of injury. For training the lats, biceps and rear delts, you could add inverted rows to your routine. I do those under a chair. It's pretty much the opposite of a push up.
today i got completely down for the first time after months of doing wall and incline push ups, now i just gotta learn how to get up damn 😭
Try doing the pushups in a normal position, but instead of on your toes, you are on your knees. That reduced the weight quite a bit and it's easier to train coming back up
I’m 65, and a woman with a history of working as a tradeswoman. While stronger than most non-athletic women my age, I started trying push ups last week and was gob-smacked at the fact that I could NOT do even ONE! Thanks for the perspective and practical suggestions.
Stop wasting time on Tik Tok, instagram, etc... eath healthy, and keep ramping up your repertoire of basic exercises such as push ups and pull ups
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
@@camranh_royal super weird to try and tell a grown ass 65 year old woman what to do with zero fucking context on how she actually lives her life. stfu
You are amazing!
Just havent used the muscles in that way before- keep trying & you'll pick it up in no time. I do reps of 30 pushups & struggled to do a chin up the other day 😂
it’s so comforting to see other people also finding help in such an in depth video like this becuase i was so embarrassed for needing such extensive help on his it feels like everyone is just born with the innate ability to do a push-up :”)
Took me.3 months to go from 0 to 5 pushups. Didn't even knew when it happened. One day I just tried and did first one . Put my earphones on I did four more lol
Working all the way up but this video helps thanks.
It was same for me. I actually had a 2 week break from exercise because of school and when I returned to it I was able to do a pushup. It took me a second to notice I actually did one and then I was like whoa
It would be great if u could share how u progressed 😃.....I am really struggling for that 1 perfect pushup 😅
@@sonaldas7327 keep going with the inclined push ups eventually you'll get there
Thank you sooooo much for saying how long it took you to do a push-up. It gives me hope. I used to be able to do them in the military and then depression kicked in and I gained almost 100lbs and am so out of shape
Can you show what it would like for a wall push ups?
I could finally do a push up!! For those who are demotivated, I just wanna say that progress takes time, and it took me over a YEAR to get a single push up done nicely..And to do a push has been my goal for such a long time so I'm just overwhelmed with gratitude! It might not be a great feat for some but it sure was for me.. So I just wanna say that don't ever feel demotivated or down YOU WILL GET THERE EVEN IF IT TAKE SOME TIME!!
I have also started recently and doing great!!! It has been one week since I started!!
@@meerayadav3170 keep going!!
Thank you 😊
I can lower down to the floor in full push up position with elbows at the correct angle but I just can't get back up.
Same here 😬😬
Samee, or can do one struggling a lot and by the 2nd there's no way lol
I'm the opposite! I can't get down but I can get up!!
That is because you are stronger in the eccentric(negative pahse), than in the concentric(positive phase). So, if you performed a bicep curl, the concentric phase would be curling the dumbell/barbell towrds your shoulder, then the eccentric phase would be lowering the weight back to the start. If you tried to curl a heavier weight than you could handle, if a partner assisted you, you would be able to lower the weight under control even though you could not lifrt the weight up without assistance. With press ups, the eccentric phase comes first, so you can lower yourself down, but cant get back up. Try this, lower yourself down in perfect form, slowly(all the way down), then, put your knees down, press up, then bring your lower body up. Keep trying, you will get there.
@@DavidSmith-fs5qj thank you so much, great advice and really interesting. I will try tomorrow, I've just finished my workout for today. Thank you taking the time to write that.
I lose motivation because I cant do a single pull up, but then again, there are also people who struggles with push up which is an easy thing for me to do. Everyone has weaknesses
Update: after a month of struggle I can finally be proud to say that I can do 3 max pullups.
A pushi is 5x easier than a Pulli, just saying :)
You got this, stay consistent
Get a pull up band that's how I started I weight 59kg I had a pull up band that held 15kg
I started with chin ups
Pulling strength and pushing strength uses different muscle groups. I know someone who's been a wall climber for 15 years but cant do 10 push-ups.
Look for hybrid calisthenics RUclips channel and see the pull up progressions. You start with a form of pull up that almost anyone can do.
OMG! Yes, I've been asking for video like this for forever. Being able to do push ups (and pull ups) have been my fitness goal for a long time. Thank you for this!
push-ups are relatively easy, now pullups are where the fun begins 😅
100% agree! I have asked for push up correct help for so long! I often did push ups with elbows at 90* and hands out.
I can go down but I can't get up😭😭
Ajaja aww Are you able do it now?
girl same 😭 my hands are sore
That’s just a push down.😂 I do the same!
Love that you added your own progression and timeline! This video has given me so much perspective and hope on my own progress.
I love how much you stress slow progress and that sometimes you need to take breaks and then get back into a routine. Your down-to-earth perspective on life has made yours the only fitness I've ever wanted to follow. Most of the time I find a way to use the videos to shame myself, but yours are so uplifting and encouraging that I find it hard to be in a negative head space by the end. Keep being you!
I'm pretty new to the whole working out thing. I thought push ups were supposed to be really basic, easy stuff since my PE teacher in elementary school tried to get me to do them. I couldn't do it then, and I still can't do them now. My arms shake just holding myself up in position, let alone moving without landing on my face. It's great to hear that push ups are something to build up to, rather than something I should feel bad for not being able to do off the bat.
I'm finally going to do a push up! I swear on my honor!! But maybe in a few months or so...
Check oit Hybrid Calisthenics, that guy has awesome resources for people who can't do pushups or pull ups etc but want to progress to the point of being able to do them
I feel that
Hoe is it going to
Yes, thank you, Lucy!! I've been working towards my first push up in the past weeks and your video is super helpful right now!
I have been trying to get this done for 6 months (attempting them twice a week). I started on an incline. I can do 5 now but just realized what my coach meant when he told me to try eccentric push-ups as well. I relate to each word in this video. The struggle, the progress, the mistakes. I'm determined to get more strength and get my form right rather than counting my progress in sets and numbers. Thank you Lucy.
A few years ago, I could only manage a quarter of a push-up and I was astonished. However, after three years of consistent and strenuous effort, including sweating and hard work, I am thrilled to say that I can now perform a full push-up. It's truly incredible!
I adore how non-judgmental you are. (And your necklace - I have earrings like them!)
You’ve only just appeared on my feed for the first time, but I quickly subscribed.
I've seen so many How To push up videos and this one makes the most sense. Thank you!
Probably the best tutorial on push-ups ever. Thank you!
This video made me feel so inspired. Thank you for the reminder that the seriously slow strength progress ect I feel I make when working out is completely normal and that I will get there and to just not give up!
A timeline of months to get to a push-up is so much more doable for someone who struggles to do them and ends up hurting my back. Thanks to your first video I’ve been slowly losing weight built over a lifetime. I’m 5 months in and have another 5 months to goal. I think it’s time to work on the exercise component. Thanks for your inspiration.
Thank you Lucy Good to see or remind correct form. I'm 85 and used to do push-ups all the time and then didn't for a time. Realized I better get back at it. Push-ups and Squats are absolutely the most important exercises. Those and walking every day.
Thank you very much, you have so much positives vibes.
I've started with calisthenics about two weeks ago and your video came on the right time.
What really helped me progress with my pushups were slow negative pushups! That was an advice from one of your old videos😁
Hi, Nat! Which video was this in? Quite interested. Thank you!
@@VeronikaCroft Hi Veronika, the video is titled 'How to start calisthetics as a beginner at home no equipment'. The first exercise is pushups.
@@natko5171 Thank you!!
Starting my calisthenics journey. Thanks so much for clear form and instructions. I feel motivated and ready to begin.
I still have to get over the reality that not every one except myself is able to do a push up. I always thought I was just very bad in sports or weak or lazy. So many fitness tips, workout routines or instructors on YT incorporate pushups and it's super frustrating when you are following a workout, getting by just well and suddenly you need to do pushups and fail terribly. Thanks for talking about the reality of it. That it is quite common for not being able to do them right away and that it will take some training. My goal for this year is to finally do one correct one! I gladly will incorporate some of your tips in my workouts. Thank you!!
You are a great motivator. 🎉 I am 41 and getting back into calisthenics for the first time in a decade. Let’s gooooo! The strength comes in time, consistency is key & you are my reminder. Thank you for that.❤
I will revisit this video again and again so that I can remember and correct a form. Thank you so much for the advice!
Just when I needed to know about this!
I was waiting for this ! Working on my pushups . This will help ALOT . Thank you sm!
I started my push up journey because of you! Thank you for laying this out and making it seem attainable!

So excited to have discovered you! I've recently joined Calisthenics classes at my local women's gym and am loving the sessions so far. Your journey into Calisthenics has inspired me to embark on my own journey. Please keep posting and share your expertise and experiences as I would love to know how I can get better at it 😊👍❤
Fantastic video. I've not been very consistent due to wrist pain, but pushups is something I'm definitely looking to achieve. Thanks for the info and encouragement ❤️
Thanks for the precise advice; I've been practising push ups for years but have only recently discovered good form and can feel the impact in the right spots. Keep it up god bless you 😊.
Dumbells didn't work for me in reference to protecting my wrists. These things called Bear Blocks REALLY eliminated all pain. They're expensive, but worth it!
Thanks so much! Amazing, clear instructions and tips on how to work your way up to the full thing! really helpful.
Thank you sooooo much for this video! It’s really motivated me to on doing push ups again ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, so far this is the best video that I watched about push up for woman

Thank you so much for explaining this so well .. I was getting very discouraged
Glad to see your video. Thanks 💞
Oh my goodness, I’ve lived for so long believing I couldn’t do push-ups I literally just had the wrong form. Tysm!
Enjoyed this video and it’s creator / instructor. She taught at my level of comprehending and she was very pleasant along the way. I’m up to sets of 25 (3 times a day) on a chair. I have to do 25 sit ups in less than one minute for the police department job I’m seeking. This video I pray will help. I have already discovered from the video that I’ve been breathing wrong. Problem fixed! Thank you.
Super nice video!! Explains everything in great details, and especially looking forward was for me the trick i didn't know for years and why I have been doing pushups wrongly.
thank you sweet Lucy
One of the best tutorial 😚. Gonna try
