I little trick to getting even spread without bounce: Spray the trays with water before broadcasting the seeds. I use a similar no soil system and used to have the bouncing seed issue.
The bottom tray is probably made using the same injection mold as the clear tray, just using a different plastic. Cheaper than making a different mold for the bottom.
That's a neat stacking sprout gadget, might look for one to replace my jars. Sprouts are yummy, and the bigger bean sprouts (mong beans etc) are also awesome pickled.
In Indonesia, pickled bean sprouts are a big thing. They’re delicious. They’re called atjar tjampur there (although that can refer to various types of pickled veggies, with or without sprouts),
@@PlantLifeYT - Most recipes for atjar tjampur I know of also include turmeric, which is a great anti-oxidant. There are a lot of recipes online, a lot of them in Dutch thanks to the historic connection between Indonesia and The Netherlands. If you want le to translate, please give me a heads’ up. I’ll gladly help out because whaddaya know... I’m a native Dutch speaker (who also happens to be fluent in French and German, should you feel that might come in handy at some point). No charge. It’s fun to do.
Interesting video. It occurred to me that you could plant one container, then another a week later and so on. That way you'd have variety and a more constant supply of sprouts.
What a great video! Thank you! I have a sprouter that’s very similar to the one you have. I’m going to dig it up again. We love sprouts and I bought my sprouter to save money (which it did). Somehow I set it aside a few months ago. It’s so easy to use though... Great tip on using the water for my plants. Never thought of doing that.
For me sprouts is one of those easy things to forget. I really enjoy them, but I don't often think about them. One of the reasons keeping this on our counter works for us.
Wonder if the nutrient rich water would double well for the mushroom kits rehydration needs.....it is of course time for Science!..... great video guys, I love the fact that Bri is learning so much the same time we are...lol
I’m curious went on Amazon, and photo showed the grower chock-full of sprouts, does that ever actually happen or what is you showed the most that you can grow on a tray?
Depends on what you're aiming for. If you want the little mini plants with leaves, which I think is what they are aiming for here. This isn't really the right type of sprouter. I'd use a tray with potting soil or paper for that. But if you're aiming for the type you buy in bags, this is great. And then the amount of 1,5 tsp mentioned is perfect. But having been sprouting since I was a kid, I prefer to reuse a jam jar. For small seeds I use a cheap nylon stocking tied off and with the foot cut off. And for large seeds like mung bean or soy, some gause and a rubber band. Or a nice terracotta sprouter.

I do that too!
Ha! Great tip! One that made me think, "Now why didn't I think of that?" Thank you for watching!
Love all of your videos on all your channels
Thanks!
I've had one of these sprout starters for something like 30 years. They are the best! Nothing beats a sprout and tomato sandwich.
Yum! Now I'm hungry, lol.

Makes sense!

Sounds great! We might have to try that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Absolutely! Staggering your addition of seeds to the different trays will certainly aid in not having too many sprouts ready at one time.
You can store them in the fridge to add more days to them plus it somehow increases nutrients
I have heard that too!
What a great video! Thank you!

Great point! I have my mushrooms on hold for the next video and the silly things keep producing! Fine by me as I keep eating them.
Hi, thanks for the growing info. Can you drink the water in the bottom container? Thanks again. 😊
I wouldn’t drink the water but rather feed it to other plants.
You didn't tell us newbies: Do we keep this near a sunny window or out of the sunlight?
They don’t need sunlight
I’m curious went on Amazon, and photo showed the grower chock-full of sprouts, does that ever actually happen or what is you showed the most that you can grow on a tray?
It can be done but overcrowding will only hamper the sprouts. We somply err on the side of caution :)
