@@TheFishLocker I’ll look forward to the video… would the person that empties the pods wear a GoPro on his chest so that we could get a much closer look into that part of bringing the pods in… We got to get a closer look at pods being stacked n sent bac out again n also baiting them as they go… it was just missing a closer look into that part of it… I promise I’m not complaining (I’m just a nosey pain in the rear lmao) I just thought I’d ask if that would b possible on ya next trip out wit them xxxx

I really appreciate the learning experience. It is to ride with you in your fishing experiences. You don't take an awful lap for granted in the knowledge of your audience and so it has to appeal across-the-board to savvy as well as not so savvy
Another great informative and entertaining video, i just relised that in previous vids I had negleced to thank the crews you have visited, I do so now and retrospectively to previous hosts. The spider crabs do apparently move along together and even climb over the newly molted soft shelled amoungst them to protect them from preditors at a vulnearable time!

John, EXCELLENT video! Really liked the different camera angles, the stacking of the pots and ropes, and you could see that they use "work smarter, not harder" with that gate. With the first few out, the rest followed, cool! With clear skies and calm water, a beautiful day for sure. My thanks to the captain and mate for allowing you and us to join them.
Only found this channel Yesterday.. I love anything to do with sea fishing/foraging etc.. Although I was brought up "inland" my father had a rule fins and feathers.. ie if it swam or flew I could eat what I wanted .. meat errm.. it was braising steak and onions on Saturday before Dr Who.. I'm 63 and I still really follow the same principles.. Not done me any harm tbh.. Not having Swordfish again though..

My dad was retired fishermen..when i was a little boy he worked his ass off earning money to make sure i get higher education..his dream was to see me as lawyer..hehe..back then fish price wasnt very good..he just dont want his children to follow his foot step,doing hard job to earn little money..but now,its been over 10 years i taking over his boat doing the same job he was doing despite having law degree.. 😂 because from where i came from,working as comercial fishermen nowadays especially if you have your own boat and you are the captain will give you big money..my father always said this.."i hope i knew back then that this job some day will put lots of food on the table and get you a nice car and house not like back in my time where we're considered poor if we have to do this job...now it feels like all the money i spent on your education got wasted for nothing..haha"

I think we should remember that that day was prettty well flat calm and you have given me an enhanced respect for when these fellas have to go out in rough weather and still do the same job in such tight conditions. I'll eat my next lobster (it doesn't happen very often) more slowly and spare a thought for our fisherfolk whilst I do so!!
That was a very interesting trip you took us all on there. I remember in the old days when there would be fishmongers in more or less all costal towns but nowadays it is almost impossible to find fresh fish straight out of the sea, unless you go and catch it yourself. I suppose it all goes to the big auctions nowadays, so maybe that is a video you might do in the future?
@@TheFishLocker A video showing what happens between the fish are caught and they become for sale to the public was what I was thinking. Many fishing towns don't have fishmongers anymore so fresh fish is scarce and I suppose the supermarket version means a long delay and less fresh fish?

It is the cool and oxygen rich waters around the U.K. that supports such rich seaweeds. These are the foundations for that rich myriad.
Interesting view of a commercial crab fisherman on a very pleasant day. No doubt other days are rainy and stormy with less productive days.
Same productivity just harder working conditions.
