      You're right. At the start the start of the film the very first thing I said was "I haven't seen the two actors before." But just like what Sam Mendez said in the Behind the scenes, he casted two actors relatively new to the game because he wanted the audience to "get to know them" along the journey and he was right! from the first scenes I'm like curious with scho and Blake and then at the end of the film I was full of awe and praise for the two characters especially George Mackay's.

He isn’t a Marvel movie star or Brad Pitt or Will Smith or Jennifer Lawrence. Even people who don’t know anything about movies, they are aware of those names and people like them. While not a 'spoiler' they really shouldn't be using this clip to promote the movie. It's the culmination of our hero's journey. Literally his last push. It's arguably the most powerful moment of the film and one of the most technically impressive shots. It has such weight in the movie. Here, without context, it's wasted and only spoils the moment for those who do want to watch the film.

I really won’t forget that experience. Showed the film to my family a week ago on TV... it was the only time I’ve ever seen my father cry over a film, and one of the only times I’ve ever seen him cry. Truly moving and beyond powerful. Never heard of it, so I'mma have to agree that he's pretty unknown, lol. If a large majority of movie goers don't know you, you're sadly "unknown." Can imagine that's just sadly the name of the game for actors/actresses.
      But now more people will be able to show more love to his past work, so it's still a major win for him.

    • @sandercohen3309
      @sandercohen3309 5 лет назад +3

      Yeah, that's the best part of the movie. The thing that really sold the scene to me. The rest of the running sequence felt like it could've been planned, but two separate full-on collisions seems like it would've been way to difficult to execute on purpose. They couldn't swap the main actor with a stuntman and they couldn't risk severely hurting the main actor either. Not to mention the fact that both of those colliding soldiers would've had to be stuntmen as well. They couldn't use regular extras for that. So you'd need to swap the main actor with a stuntman, make the stuntman perfectly hit another stuntman (out of hundreds of random extras) and then hit yet another stuntman (out of hundreds of random extras) *THEN* swap to the main actor without the audience noticing. All of that would've needed to happen with perfect timing and precision. It would've been *IMPOSSIBLE* to do safely on purpose.

      @Sam C to give them their due, the american money, supplies and troops helped break the resolve of the german empire quicker but their defeat was inevitable. The yanks like to take the credit for winning a war in which they only lost 50,000 men in combat to, as opposed to the near 2 million native british and colonial casualties and the million French army casualties.

    • @TGTDestiny
      @TGTDestiny 5 лет назад +2

      @Sam C I never said the allies would lose but they certainly helped end the war quicker. By the early months of 2017, France was largely on its last legs, with the war ravaging a lot of its land and many of its army killed due to poor strategies and decisions (like wearing extremely visible/noticeable clothing), Russia was having problems with an untrained and unequipped army plus a revolution that ousted Tsar Nicholas. Britain was the only nation truly keeping the war alive and they would have kept fighting to the point where they would cause Germany to strike a ceasefire. But without the US, the war likely would have ended in 1919.

    all of a sudden I've seen George McKay in 5 movies over 2 years, and I wasn't even aware of it happening 🌠 His star's on the rise and frankly he's an *amazing intensely emotional actor who gives fully heartfelt and-or deep-down-wound portrayals* Remind me please of the last actor who did that.
    Let me add, I've now watched a couple of his interviews and he shows a high intelligence (emotionally + intellectually) of the process + intracies of acting + filmmaking. He's clearly in the moment & very responsive.
    George stay on track, don't join social media, even with an anonymous account. Keep onwards but *do not burn yourself out* Do only 2 or 3 projects per year.
    Read + read, stay fit + healthy, be with family + friends, get practice + coaching with experts + academia, and read more.
    You stand out as a *very gifted young man who will have decades of success* ahead 🌠

    Those two falls and hits made that scene way more realistic. Really cool that they kept it in there because that’s a lot more like what would’ve probably really happened in that scenario. There is just a wave of people attacking in that moment and he’s got to run through them. Very believable and very nicely done.

      It gives more action in a scene that otherwise would've just been a straight boring shot without much real suspense. Falling down twice in that hell and getting up really sells the urgency and fragility of his mission.

    He is relatively unknown with his most popular films, Captain Fantastic and Pride, taking $21.3M and $16.7M reflectively, though he has been in a number of movies since 2017, even starring alongside Daisy Ridley in Ophelia. 1917 is definitely a big jump forward for George, and I couldn't be more proud of him.

      Dan Witzke - yeah tell me about it! I spent so much time watching RUclips uploads of people talking about everything that went wrong with the final season but let's be honest...GOT really started to go downhill after S4. I did really enjoy S5 and S6 however they weren't quite as good as the previous seasons once the show runners ran out of book material. It has been cathartic watching those videos. I was watching another interview with Dean Charles-Chapman where he is promoting 1917 and he said that he "lost interest" in GOT after Tommen died and he stopped working on the show but some people think he actually did continue watching the show to the end (because why would you not....i mean really?) and it was just him putting a wall up (no pun intended) so he didn't have to say what he really thought of the final season since literally the entire world was utterly disappointed 😞 in it.
