The interviewers can't even discuss the scene for the sake of not spoiling the movie... Poor Dean missing out on praise and appreciation due to this single fact...
I was so impressed by George Mackay's interpretation, I'm currently watching all his filmography. He is trully amazing, very talented actor. Loved him in Pride, Captain Fantastic and When hands touch. Looking forward to see his next movie as Ned Kelly ❤ He has a new spanish fan now 😊
Idodido Lennon watch how I live now, George's role is really good and you can feel the love between him and the character Daisy, same with his role in Ophelia
Yes! Even Dean was in an important role in Game of Thrones from Season 4 to 6. And George was in Captain Fantastic, and he was *fantastic* in that movie
Love these two actors! Some of my favorites so far this year. They weren’t really that unknown either but they did a fantastic job in 1917 and I can’t wait till it comes out on dvd to watch it again!
All the American news people interviewing them keep referring to them as unknowns. Maybe the interviewers mean that they aren't big movie stars, which is true. But if that's what the questioners mean, they should say so. Anyway, Dean and George don't seem to mind. They may be working actors, but they know they aren't stars. And because he's so lanky, George looks great in clothes. He could side hustle as a male model.
It's not really an insult if it's true. And prior to this movie both of them were largely unknown by the public. At least the American public. One of them was on GOT, and while GOT fans know the character he plays, I don't know how many GOT fans could tell you the name of the actor who played said character. (I couldn't). It's really kind of a compliment to say that they went into this UNKNOWN but now are KNOWN because of their work in this.
Sam Mendes said he deliberately wanted to cast unknowns. MacKay and Chapman have said they consider themselves unknowns. Get your panties out of a bunch, it’s not that big of a deal.
Both were incredible, I actually thought the best part of the film was when they were both together. The first 45 minutes was probably one of the best things I've ever seen in a film, felt fresh and made to the highest quality.
Love the way they shot this and how the movie was cast. The higher the rank, the more known is the actor. Such a great concept. Makes it mote believable as well. I mean, everybody must know Collin Firth and Benedict Cubcerbatch, most people would know Mark Strong, a lot of people would know Richard Madden, some people would recognice Dean-Charles Chapman and then you had the 'grunt' George MacKay who almost everybody(outside the UK) would not recognice. Briliant briliant filmmaking.
I like their vibe, very cool, down to earth type of guys. And their acting in this film was nothing short of superb. Also, I feel like they are unconventionally handsome and I like that. Not a stereotypical "handsome", with tanned skin, ripped abs and huge macho arms, but a more subtle one that is very appropriate for the tone and period of the film. The actors are not bad to look at but it's not overly distracting from the main plot.
Dean was literally the king of westeros in arguably the most popular tv show of all time, George has been in many films along side huge actors some of which he is the lead, they are definitely not unknowns
I saw this tonight with some of my buddies and the entire time I was thinking “damn I low key look like George” them my buddies started whispering and they started laughing at me and said I look like that dude. I was quite offended until I read the comments. Now that I know he is handsome I am very flattered.
To be fair, he's gotten a little chunky, so I know it's Tom but I dont automatically see him in the film. Every now and then in the film though, he sometimes look like a young Leo. The unknown actor quote came from the director.
Dean-Charles Chapman is NOT unknown, he played the young king and Cercei / Jamie Lanister's son in Game of Thrones! When I see his face, it reminds me of the scene where he jumps off the window, a.k.a King's Landing!!! The host should've done his research!!!
Even I love George so much but I would like to say that Dean is a nice guy , charming and look close to George so much , btw I love them both and thanks Sam for 1917 THIS IS A MASTER PIECE

I hate how the interviewer reacts to everything like it’s another day in the playground to crack jokes. They put everything for this and it turned out amazing and this movie is something else. That 20 second clip isn’t anxiety it’s the whole movie
George McKay was incredible in this movie. Should get nominated for something!
naindra84 Right?! He deserved a nomination for Best Actor.
exactlyyyy
@@caitlinjoy6332 YESSSS
Not Oscar worthy. But agreed if a big name like Leo was there he wud have got many nominations
Yes, absolutely!
George is a real-life prince
Right? So perfect 😍
He's like a real life European in 18 century oil painting😂😂
aljanat5 what’s your name let me look you up
aljanat5 You also seem to suffer from delusions. I know this is all a joke tho.
Or Barel same thought.😊
So weird seeing them not covered in dirt and dying lmfaooo
lol
"And dying"🤣🤣
And dying? whut
It’s kinda weird calling George an unknown considering he’s 27 and has been in quiet a few great films.
I agree. Quite disrespectful but he is such a humble young man.
TopSecretMakeup Wouldnt say disrespectful, hes a unknown to most people outside of the uk, plus he himself said he doesnt mind
TopSecretMakeup The Director who is from the UK called him an unknown. He said he wanted to cast unknowns in the film.
He starred alongside James Franco in 11.22.63 which was a pretty good miniseries.
Shelbyville Rules that’s what I’ve been saying
Honestly, George is amazing. He’s such a delicate person.
@aljanat5 what the fuck does this m e a n
aljanat5 weirdo playing the victim
@aljanat5 you think you're hot shit is what i got from this post begging for attention
Delicate is spot on how I would describe him 🙃
George is such a husband material
Close your flaps

He’s the hot one
Love how confidently everyone has (wrongly) pronounced George MacKay's name on this press tour
The Scottish lady did him right though!!
George has an Irish grandmother also - from County Cork, so plenty of Gaelic there .
it's mah-kai right?
@@dothisjohndothatjohn2754 Nope he's English, I had an Irish Nana but I'm English born in England, don't make me Irish.
Alison Smith But he didn’t say George was Irish in his comment... just that he has Irish roots.
Dean calling George's acting 'beautiful' is my love language 😌
I've the biggest man-crush on George MacKay. He just seems like the nicest, most down-to-earth person, but I LIVE for Dean's dialect. :D

That was the most realistic depiction I have ever seen in a movie.

"put me down You bastard". The way he delivered that one line still haunts me...
I wish these guys the best of luck in their carriers. They are good and the movie 1917 is epic. Definitely deserves Oscar.
I agree with you, Nino.

"I'm going there to see my Father
And all my loved ones who've gone on
I'm only going over Jordan
I'm only going over home"
These two actors might not be the Tom-Hollandly famous kind of actors, but they sure are far from being unknown, at least to me. (Btw, I'm Tom's fan).
He quoted what the director said. I get what you mean tho.
Dean and Tom both played Billy Elliot at the same time at the West End 😊

Always thought Dean was cute in Game of Thrones.
He really looks like he could be Richard Madden's little brother which is funny considering their Game of Thrones characters

William S.W Definitely. If you’re talking about all time great war films, this is up there.

Anna Kk but it is relevant. George may not want to be on social media because he wants to keep his life private.

I went to school with George. He was very shy back then. Great actor though, glad to see him succeeding.
Wow really?!
Is Dean really an unknown actor? I mean he was in GoT
@Caleb Kent he was King Tommen Lannister. He jumped from the castle and killed himself.
Gilie's Mesh
Nah he’s not UNKNOWN
That was the first thing I thought about. Tommen Baratheon has risen from the dead just to die again 😂 In a situation we never dreamt him in ☠️
Also he played a younger Lannister cousin that was killed by the Kastarks during the unravelling of King Rob’s rebellion. He was REcast as Tommen.
god almost didn't recognize him he was so young in GoT
Its George's Film all the way what a performance.
