    We are hooked on these videos.
    My grandkids don't understand why so many people build these beautiful homes but do not have full basements under them.

    Have You's ever given thought to Pressure Treated basement system? I have built one. They are more labor intense but less expensive to build. Much warmer in the winter and cooler in summer. And vary dry.

    2:21..great looking build. The only comment I have is on the rim board..with all that expense only to try and save on those crucial items by using MDF doesn't make sense to me!! If I was the home owner, I'd insist on solid material..a little more expense could save huge in the long run. I don't need to tell a home builder what MDF does in the long run if there is ever water present!! It's a moisture wick and breaks down. 20 years down the road that stuff is going to start to get punky..no matter what you do to protect it.

    Such beautiful workmanship. I just so enjoy your channel. What type of trees do you cut for your wood?
    Do you ever use lumber off a customers property prior and let it dry. They used to do it back in the day out here near us in WA with all our lumber and trees. Just wondering if you do that as an option. I can understand why you wouldn't but thought it would be interesting if any customers use their own logs after they are dried and cured.
    Stay healthy and keep up the beautiful work.........absolutely without a doubt each home is breathtaking!

    • @AmishMeadowsOfficial
      @AmishMeadowsOfficial  4 года назад +1

      We have had customers who provided logs from their property as a “credit” towards the cost of their home, but it’s difficult to use specific logs for a project because of our process and the different size logs required, so those logs would get mixed into our supply and a few could likely end up in the clients home :)

      @@AmishMeadowsOfficial I think that is a fantastic opportunity for people to use. I know it probably is not done often but it indeed puts people in a home they would perhaps not be able to have. What a blessing to those who can be extended that opportunity. Blessings. Love your channel!

    Great video! But, did the crane operator swing those logs over the crew? i.e. Swing a suspended load over a crew.

    Can you build cape cod Massachusetts yes or no

    • @AmishMeadowsOfficial
      @AmishMeadowsOfficial  2 года назад

      Yes Cape Cod should not be a problem. We have built 2 log homes in Westminster Massachusetts. We have a structural engineer who does a good job of getting the design engineer stamped and approved to build in Massachusetts to meet each town’s specific local building and energy codes.
      When you are ready to proceed with talking about your project you can click on Meadowlarks’s contact form that you can find on the bottom of each page of the website. Some of your desired design information would be good and then we can begin discussing your project. We would help design the home with large overhangs and porches so that it has protection from those famous nor’easter‘s that come through the Cape.

    Why not attach the logs directly to the foundation and put the subfloor inside the logs. Seems like that would be much stronger,

      I assume you are referring to a full basement? That is a good choice and if you have any slope to the property that makes it nice for a walk out daylight basement.

    I see your guys sinking the claws of the hammer. Into the interior surface of the log to move them. I don't think I would like all those claw marks all over the interior of my cabin walls.

      А надо ли? Конечно мы привыкли скобель и топорик да пила-дружба. Больше непонятно почему вместо нагелкй используют металлическую арматуру и скрепление венцов производится саморезами, это же в деревянном бревенчатом домостроении категорически запрещено
