Some raw footage from the morning session at the La Jolla Reefs on December 27th, 2023. There were many unknown riders in the lineup due to the big publicity this swell received online. There were plenty of barrels coming through. Although with highly hyped swells comes the individuals who don't belong out there. One individual was an older crazy guy who eventually dropped in on pro surfer Jacob "Zeke" Zelesky who was deep in a barrel. The older kook took off without looking and dropped in on Zeke. At shallow reef breaks like this that can be very dangerous. Zeke eventually had words with the kook and took him to beat it.

Yeah he was pissed and rightfully so. Having rode there myself for a long time, that is an insanely dangerous situation. Bouncing off that shallow reef really sucks.

You got that right! Been doing photos / video there for 25 years now. Have seen some brutal and heavy wipeouts there. Also experienced some personally back in the 2000s when I used to ride there. One time in particular it felt like I got hit by a truck after getting taken out by the lip and then smashed into the reef and scorpioned under water. Thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to comment. Tomorrow's video is gonna be a banger from here. Day 2 of the swell and insane barrels.
@@SLAWTVvideos You definitely know the risk. Comment I didn’t include was my first experience there, size slightly bigger than this, paddling to drop in while staring directly at the slab just below the surface. My thoughts were “make it or die”. So I paddled back over to Wind n Sea….lol.

I couldn't agree more.
doesn't matter who it is, and regardless of your personal feelings to someone, that is super dangerous at that spot. I have seen people get seriously injured at that spot because of kooks doing that exact thing. people have broke their necks, separated their shoulders, and had their fins gouge them open. not something i wish on people. not the kind of energy I would want to put out them.

Haha. That is the same old guy who No Look Back dropped in on the shoulder on Zeke's wave and snowballed it when Zeke was pitted in the barrel. Total kook move on that Old guy's part. Also extremely dangerous. Do you know the old guy's name?
