First time I've heard it in English. The is beautiful. I have sad memories of this song. When I was 15 years old, my parents made me go to work in a bakery. I had to become a baker, which I disliked at all. I always cried when I heard this song. (German version).
I have loved mario singing sice i was a 12 year old lad now i am 82 i have many of his songs on my favourites and often listen to them with emotion he was and will always be the best
God sang through Mario Lanza. I feel the closeness of God when I listen to his renditions. RIP, I'm confident he's smiling down at us from his Heavenly throne......Sad fate befell Christopher Reeves. He's free now.
Oh! Listening to Mario Lanza I swear my heart does a rapid beat from excitement and my day just floats along on a cloud. I am positive anyone who is feeling down will certainly Feel on top of the world if they listen to Mario Lanza.
❤️🌟Just sitting and relaxed listening to some off the most romantic songs ever composed. Mario Lanza had just the tenor voice to sung these beautiful songs🌟❤️🦢
This was my uncle's favorite song in the operetta. His ancestors came from Austria, and settled in PA. Mario, was the so much better then Caruso, though he was Mario's idol at the time. So in the 19th century we had Mario, in the 20th we had Pavarotti. Since then, there has been no one else who's voices have reached high C's, without breaking. With Mario Lanza, you could understand every word he spoke in song. I came to this channel to hear these great tenors. Outside my walls is murder, strife, violence of every sort, riots, injustice, corruption and greed. Inside is peace and quiet.

Hi David, i to am a tenor, and have been singing marios songs no for over 40 years. i have been a member of the mario lanza institute, in philadelphia, and the new york society of mario lanza. mario lanzas son damon, was my very good friend, sadly he passed away many years ago. marios health trainer, in los angeles, was my very best friend. if you want to know anything about mario, go on the internet, and put in, ask terry robinson. all the best to you. @@louisvaccaro5865 Hi Louis, lovely to hear from you, Mario Lanza, what can we say, what a fabulous voice, was the inspiration for so many of todays tenors including me. I've sung in many hotels and holiday parks and always used to sing the 'Drinking Song' as a finale. Of course, I have all his records and play them regularly. I sing light tenor so do not sing opera but so many of his songs were standard 'love songs' which are easy to sing and easy to listen to. 'Because Your Mine' is a favourite and I remember singing it during a thunderstorm, the words 'that isn't thunder dear, it's only my poor heart you hear' were accompanied by a quiet peal of thunder. I loved soaring up to the top note at the very end. Wonderful music. I have applied to sing on British tv a talent show called The Voice and I shall sing 'You Are My Hearts Delight' another great favourite. I'm now 85 but in excellent health, I'm sure the singing keeps me fit. I shall be playing and singing one of Mario,s songs on the way to the audition for inspiration. I decided to listen to Mario today. Over the years I always listened to him. I even have a two CD pact of him. Not only was he able to sing opera but he was also able to sing these beautiful songs. Yes, he was taken too early from us. I heard that he ate himself to death. He gained a lot of weight and unfortunately that caused him to die at an early age. Pavrotti did the same thing. He ate himself to death. But Pavrotti mainly sang opera. Now weonly have their recordings to listen to. And such beautiful recordings they are.
Giorgio, Mario did indeed have a magnificent voice. But he was more than that. He sang everything from the depths of his heart and touched our hearts. He was real, he laughed and kidded around, we felt a closeness to him, like a family member. He was no aloof, distant person. This was a person who delighted in removing soda pop bottle caps with his teeth, a loveable prankster and friend. What a wonderful person he was, along with his great voice. God bless him. We lost him too early in life.

There are many good to excellent renditions of this classic in this World but this one is unworldly. I saw "The Great Caruso" I think in 1952(3? on a re-release locally) as a child. Mario's voice and passion hooked me. It was the seed that prompted me to discover and love opera, classical, and standards outside the pop of whatever time. Don't get me wrong, I liked as a youth and still do, all types of music and artists. And when it comes to opera I am no fool, I recognize and appreciate exceptional talent. I've worn out many a needle (and RUclips hours now) so to speak on many greats. But Mario and Callas are my go to when I want my soul to be lifted into another World. Something about the voices and the passion when they are in form that is hard to beat. Thanks for the upload.
Vanessa, I am an opera lover and have heard a number of the great tenors in person on stage and also via recordings, but none touches my heart the way Mario does. He not only has an extremely beautiful voice, he makes you feel the meaning of the song lyrics. They mean something to him. Truly, he stands alone among other well-known tenors. Best of good fortune to you with your career, you must have a very beautiful voice. Kindest Regards
Luis, Thank you for your kind comment. Interesting that you should mention that it is "A Piece of art". I actually am an artist. I love painting historical American portraits and landscapes. You are correct in saying that no alien could sing like him. I totally agree. May you and yours have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Kind Regards, Sandra
TedWms521; Chaque a son gout - or- Digustibus non disputandem est. In other words, "Each to his own taste". Strange isn't it that so many famous opera singers think just the opposite of your opinion. Check it out, Sandra

You're very welcome, Sandra. It is my pleasure to view & listen to the "beauty" of Mario Lanza's voice & the clips from the movie. I can relate to your computer savvy comment, as they can be quite challenging for our generation. Your pardon is graciously accepted. Warmest regards, Rose
Absolutely beautiful pairing of this song & scenes from this movie - they were made for each other. Wish they had used this song in the movie - it goes so well with the theme. Thank you for all the time/effort you put into the beautiful songs/videos of Mario Lanza! His was THE VOICE, there will never be another. I heartily agree, he had a portentous, marvelous, amazing tenor voice. He was also a good movie actor. Too many actors nowadays show no feeling for what their lines call for. Mario put his heart into the song lyrics he sang and also the lines he spoke in his movies. All that and he was a very good looking man too. Thank you for your comment.
Mario Lanza....... the voice I grew up with - thanks to my Dad. Whenever I hear him, I just have to stop whatever I'm doing and let that beautiful voice soak in. Thank you for posting, especially with these pictures from one of my all time favourite films.

Gigi.
Gigi Insulana Gigi, in English you wrote, "I was missing you and I'm happy to see your beautiful videos. I love Mario Lanza and to hear his magnificent voice is a great blessing of God for these gifts Thank you. A big hug". Gigi, You are so very kind as always. I am so pleased that you like my Mario videos. It is for such kind viewers as yourself that I try to do the best that I can to make my videos enjoyable. Although I am a retired high school teacher, I have no formal education in music. I love the opera, I love Mario's voice and his way of singing that touches one's heart. I also like other singers, but he is my favorite. I am getting close to 71 years old and had the great joy to watch Mario live on T.V. What a beautiful voice and such a charming person too. I have heard Pavarotti, Domingo and others live on stage, but Mario has my heart. Wishing you a wonderful day and thank you again for your sweet message. Kindest Regards, Sandra

Mario Lanza had the passion, the voice, and the looks to make operatic tenor popular on radio and record, and in Hollywood movies. And he was American - - -

+Colin Harper-Summerson Colin, Yes, Mario's beautiful voice brings back wonderful memories of our parents and others who were alive at the time when Mario's voice flooded the T .V., movies and records. I remember my family sitting around the T.V. and watching and listening to Mario sing. Those were the days. They bring back such sweet memories to me too. I am 71, but my memories of that time are as clear as if they happened yesterday. Thank you for your kind comment. May you continue to enjoy my Mario videos. Kind Regards, Sandra
Luis, In English, you wrote, "I am eighty years old. So I lived with Mario's voice. Then at the time I thought a voice from another world. Now I give it even more value." Thank you for your comment. I am in my early 70's and understand what you are saying. To hear such a voice at first during childhood and then to hear it again when we are older gives us much more appreciation for the beauty of Mario's voice. Thank you for your comment. Kindest Regards, Sandra
I grew up listening to Mario Lanza records in the late 50's and very early 60's - he was my father's favorite tenor. He bought quite a few of Mario's LP Hi Fi albums on vinyl of course and played them all the time. I still have most of those LP's. My dad was also a pretty dang good natural tenor himself and singing was his pastime. He sang this one quite often as well as Vesti la Giubba and others. This one brings me back to that time. Thanks for posting this on RUclips.
I had never listened to Mario until nearly three years ago. Going through my Grandma's collection I can across some of Marios work. Some of them were so old that we could not play them as they were 78s and we did not have a player for them. This voice is so perfect I find it a spice of great envy. Thanks for uploading
Andrew, What a wonderful discovery for you. Thank goodness for Mario's records and movies which keep his beautiful voice alive for us. Just a hint to other singers who wish to sing like him. Voice perfection is an important thing, singing from your heart is as or even more important to the listener. There are a goodly number of singers who rely on vocal perfection alone, but very few who sing from their hearts to touch ours. I am not only a Mario Lanza fan, but an Elvis Presley fan as well. Have you ever heard him sing gospel songs? They were his mom's favorite and his own. It shows truly in the deep feeling he shares with us when he sings them. My favorite that he sings is "Take My Hand Precious Lord". It always beings me to tears. Keep listening to Mario, his voice will show the way for you. Kindest Regards, Sandra
Dr. Lolita Nehra, Thank you so much for such a lovely comment. His voice was truly heavenly. May you enjoy my other Mario videos as much. May you and yours have a Blessed Holiday and a Happy New Year. Kind Regards, Sandra
+Phyllis Ramsey Phyllis, Have you listened to Fritz Wunderlich sing the original German version, "Dein ist mein ganzes Herz"? SEMPRE L' OPERA VIVA uploaded this song at ruclips.net/video/91xlNWJOFw0/видео.html. Take a listen. Do you hear a similarity between Mario's emotional delivery and that of Wunderlich's? Both excellent tenors, both giving a deeply emotional delivery. I say Bravo to them both. We need more singers with such wonderful delivery. Thank you for your comment. Kindest Regards, Sandra
I am Austrian , and this songs always brings me to tears. I wish the words could have remained true in the translation.
@mattsmith45121 Mario's singing is so beautiful and so filled with true feeling that it touches the hearts of everyone. He sang opera, pop, Broadway show tunes, and religious songs. Thank goodness for his recordings, his own and others TV show appearances, his films and now RUclips to share his great voice with those of us who remember him while he lived and those of us who are too young to remember him.

The greatest singer of the 20th century
Perhaps, of all time... I can think of no one who could top him.
Vanessa,
I am an opera lover and have heard a number of the great tenors in person on stage and also via recordings, but none touches my heart the way Mario does. He not only has an extremely beautiful voice, he makes you feel the meaning of the song lyrics. They mean something to him. Truly, he stands alone among other well-known tenors.
Best of good fortune to you with your career, you must have a very beautiful voice.
Kindest Regards
A Piece of art. The voice just fabulous. As I said already Lanza could be a alien the problem is no alien can sing like him.
Luis,
Thank you for your kind comment. Interesting that you should mention that it is "A Piece of art". I actually am an artist. I love painting historical American portraits and landscapes. You are correct in saying that no alien could sing like him. I totally agree.
May you and yours have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Kind Regards,
Sandra
Maybe the aliens sing better. Plenty of opera singers do.

Chaque a son gout - or- Digustibus non disputandem est. In other words, "Each to his own taste".
Strange isn't it that so many famous opera singers think just the opposite of your opinion.
Check it out,
Sandra
Mario Lanza kann man immer wieder singen hören, seine Stimme i
Semplicemente meravigliosa.
Yes, you are correct, Mario was absolutely amazing.
Just glorious as only Mario Lanza sings this timeless song. Only he can reach your heart with his incomparable voice & emotion. Grateful thanks, Sandy. Rose

I'm sorry for the delay in replying to you. I just found out how to use the new RUclips apparatus. I am 70 years old and I am not very computer savvy. Please pardon the great delay.
Kind Regards,
Sandra
You're very welcome, Sandra. It is my pleasure to view & listen to the "beauty" of Mario Lanza's voice & the clips from the movie. I can relate to your computer savvy comment, as they can be quite challenging for our generation. Your pardon is graciously accepted.
Warmest regards, Rose
Absolutely beautiful pairing of this song & scenes from this movie - they were made for each other. Wish they had used this song in the movie - it goes so well with the theme. Thank you for all the time/effort you put into the beautiful songs/videos of Mario Lanza! His was THE VOICE, there will never be another. one of the greatest voices of all time
Irina,
In English, you wrote, "To paraphrase the words of this remarkable work of Franz Legara.I can confidently say that Mario Lanza will be forever "reign in the hearts of all, who has ever heard the voice of the divine!"
Very well said. I have nothing more to add, you have said it all!
Kindest Regards,
Sandra
Mario lanza's voice is so very romantic
Very true, not only very beautiful, but as you say, very romantic.
Thank you for your comment.

Thank you for your comment.
Mario was truly amazing and magnificent. Wonderful voice, wonderful person.
Espetacular!
I cannot think of any world s in the English language that can describe this mans voice but I will try and just say "Magic!"
Kay,
Thank you very much for your wonderful comment about my video. What a pleasure that it brings you so many wonderful memories.
Kind Regards,
Sandra
I echo your remarks exactly! I have loved listening to Mario Lanza since the first time I heard his voice on my dad's HiFi back in the early 1950s when I was just a young lad.
Brilliant. So versatile !
One of my favorite movies with one of my favorite tenors. A perfect combination. Thanks for an enjoyable 4 minutes.
Everyone has express so well the greatest of this singer and of the way he sings this marvelous song, I can't think of anything else but to say, WOW ABSOLUTELY amazing !
How so very romantic song and I love his beautiful voice so much.
Gigi.
Gigi Insulana
Gigi, in English you wrote, "I was missing you and I'm happy to see your beautiful videos. I love Mario Lanza and to hear his magnificent voice is a great blessing of God for these gifts Thank you. A big hug".
Gigi,
You are so very kind as always.
Kindest Regards,
Sandra

+Sir Andrew
Sir Andrew, you have described in just a very few perfectly chosen words Mario's incredibly beautiful voice. Thank you so much for sharing. May you enjoy my other Mario videos as much.
Happy New Year to you and yours.
Kind Regards,
Sandra
Che voce! Che estensione vocale! Yours is my Heart alone....
Thanks for making us share this interpretation which I discover!
Who better than LANZA, can: with emotion, joy, diction, and a voice alternating the crystal, velvet, gold and the money to sing the love? Guy CREQUIE
Mario Lanza had the passion, the voice, and the looks to make operatic tenor popular on radio and record, and in Hollywood movies. And he was American - - -
Donylo,
Thank you for your wonderful comment. You said it all. We may never see his like again.
May he rest in peace, he is greatly missed.
Kind Regards,
Sandra
Beautiful , brings memory's flooding back of my late father, thanks for sharing
+Colin Harper-Summerson
Colin,
Yes, Mario's beautiful voice brings back wonderful memories of our parents and others who were alive at the time when Mario's voice flooded the T .V., movies and records.
Kind Regards,
Sandra
So very beautiful Mario Lanza has such an awesome voice thanks for sharing.
Tenho oitenta anos.
Luis,
In English, you wrote, "I am eighty years old. So I lived with Mario's voice. Then at the time I thought a voice from another world. Now I give it even more value."
Thank you for your comment. I am in my early 70's and understand what you are saying. To hear such a voice at first during childhood and then to hear it again when we are older gives us much more appreciation for the beauty of Mario's voice.
Thank you for your comment.
Kindest Regards,
Sandra
Nr. 1 !!!
Andrew,
What a wonderful discovery for you.
Kindest Regards,
Sandra
I love Elvis Presley Gospel songs.😍

May you and yours have a Blessed Holiday and a Happy New Year.

no one does it any better!!!
This is one of my favorite songs from German operetta--The Land of Smiles. Beautiful singing, as usual! It puts me on "cloud Nine"!
+Phyllis Ramsey
Phyllis,
Have you listened to Fritz Wunderlich sing the original German version, "Dein ist mein ganzes Herz"? SEMPRE L' OPERA VIVA uploaded this song at ruclips.net/video/91xlNWJOFw0/видео.html. Take a listen. Do you hear a similarity between Mario's emotional delivery and that of Wunderlich's? Both excellent tenors, both giving a deeply emotional delivery. I say Bravo to them both. We need more singers with such wonderful delivery.
Thank you for your comment.
Kindest Regards,
Sandra
I am Austrian , and this songs always brings me to tears. I wish the words could have remained true in the translation.

@mattsmith45121
Mario's singing is so beautiful and so filled with true feeling that it touches the hearts of everyone. He sang opera, pop, Broadway show tunes, and religious songs. Thank goodness for his recordings, his own and others TV show appearances, his films and now RUclips to share his great voice with those of us who remember him while he lived and those of us who are too young to remember him.
